Development Blog #18

Part 1: What's going on right now?

In our last developer diary entry, we said our whole studio was going on a little vacation. Be it growing onions at home or catching Oddishes in Pokemon Go, adding gun photos to their collection or stocking up on mosquito bites, everyone's prepping for our big upcoming stretch of work in their own way.

Andrey Zaytsev, Junior Map Designer
Currently relaxing near Arkhangelsk.
Had to go north to warm up since St. Petersburg has been so cold and rainy. Brrr.

Ivan Zvonaryov, Game Designer
Stayed at home. Doesn't regret it. St. Petersburg weather is being typical, so this is the best time to beat all those unplayed games he has lying around.

Leonid Gladchenko, Junior Map Designer
What a rush! First time in his life he's jumped from a bridge. Didn't fly too far, though.

Ivan Loktionov, Programmer
Was packing up for a big move...

When suddenly a notification on his phone made him forget everything else.

There was a POKÉMON NEARBY!

Thankfully, Ivan never got back to those moving boxes.

Artyom Pavlenko, Senior Programmer
Grew some onions at home, on the windowsill. And look how they ended up!

Aleksandr Davidov, Map Designer
Travelling around Crimea with his significant other. Heading up into the mountains, enjoying the local wine, and snapping photos with guns from Sevastopol military missions.

THIS GUN!

(p.s. – it's a BB 30)

Daniil Dvoryaninov, Junior Producer
Daniil said "no" to popular foreign and local resorts after falling ill. His still-packed tent never did make it out to the Barents Sea...

Ivan Dubitskiy, Senior Build Engineer
(the guy who keeps the game servers under control. But don't worry, we found another victim for the job while he's away)
Went on a campaign to complete an important mission: ensuring the survival of a race of two-winged creatures.
Fought off some especially insistent bloodsuckers as best he knew – by hiding in his tent.

Vadim Yakovlev, Lead QC Specialist
Spent his free time completely engrossed in roleplaying games.
Fighting the harsh creatures in the world of The Witcher...

Walked around, bow at the ready. Ended up as the object of major media attention.
(There's just no way this could escape your notice)

Jean Tyulegenov, Lead Designer
Where the wild wind blows across the steppes, where a third of all the bullets ever fired at the enemy by Soviet soldiers were created, where one fourth of them went to the front and one half of those never returned – here Jean was looking for inspiration for the game.

Part 2: Player Suggestions

Lots of players are waiting for a trench system. For example, GrantRuss (from official forum).

Yes, we have plans for a trench system, but it's too early for us to say any more at this point.

Part 3: In the next installment of the Development Blog...

We'll be spending the rest of the summer working on technical and tactical stats. In particular, we'll be fixing the tier system, which prevents a lot of models from ever interacting with one another.

So how are you spending your summer? :)
