Greetings, dear commanders!
Today we’ve got a run-down of the in-game camera controls, details on upcoming changes to commanders, some new statistics to share, and of course; we’d like to know what new commanders you’d like to see added to the game.
1. Camera
The game already allows you to control the camera with the Insert and Home keys. However, if you try moving the camera this way, it won't return to the standard position.
For your convenience we plan to transfer the controls from these keys to the mouse wheel. By pressing and holding it, you'll be able to rotate the camera, with another click returning it to its initial position.
2. Commanders
We have re-worked all of the commanders, making each of them truly unique. Their bonuses cover 8 types of units: 4 types of troops, 2 fortification types and 2 support types. Our consultant, Boris Yulin, carefully studied the historical details.
Commander specialisations are based on the real battles they took part in, on the tactical techniques and unit types they used.
As the loyalty level of your units increases, so will their level of competency.
Currently, working to earn your commanders’ loyalty gets you units when you reach Level 3. As part of the reward system rebalancing you will also get units on the first two levels. When hovering over a unit, you'll see the level it is available at displayed.
At the beginning of this entry we lifted the veil and told you about our plans to introduce new commanders. We are going to add one for each nation.
Please welcome new commander , Sir Claude Auchinleck, a British military commander and Field Marshal. When the war broke out, he was the commander of the Army in Narvik during the Norwegian campaign (April-June 1940). After that he was appointed Commander-in-Chief in India (1940-41), and from the middle of 1941 onward he commanded all of the British forces in North Africa and the Middle East. In our game Sir Claude Auchinleck will be a Commander of Infantry Operations with the corresponding unit assignments.
Whom would you like to see on the part of Germany and the USSR?
We'd like to add a Commander of Artillery and a Commander of Aircraft to the game. Feel free to offer your own suggestions in the comments, and your idea might just be the one we add to the game!
3. Statistics and Replays
This part of the development blog will be definetely interesting for those who haven't checked out the latest updates :)
Now, when the battle is over, you'll be able to see detailed game statistics in the combat reports. You'll be able to see all important information: player nicknames, battlefields, rewards and a KDA (kill/death/assistance) analog.
Let's consider that last parameter in more detail.
1. The Destroyed multiplier will be calculated in supply points instead of unit kills. You'll probably agree, that destroying a Tiger is not as easy as killing a T-70.
2. Instead of "deaths" you'll be able to see a breakdown of the proportion of your troops you called in during the battle. All in all, you'll be able to calculate your own efficiency by comparing columns 1 and 2.
3. You'll also see the amount of damage points you inflicted during the battle.
And one more thing. Before seeing the statistics, you'll also be able to take a look at the awards. Instead of reading about the new screen, just look at it:
Thank you for your kind attention and see you on the battlefield!
We look forward to your commander suggestions! :)
