Hello there Maians! Today, we finally have a few updates about the state of Yomaia that we think it might interest you.
As a starting point, we want to share a sincere and detailed update regarding the development of Yomaia, an incredibly challenging project that continues to move forward with unwavering determination. Over the past few months, we’ve experienced a rollercoaster of emotions, obstacles, and lessons learned.
We want to be fully transparent with you about what has happened and the decisions we’ve made along the way.
Challenges and Setbacks:
The development of Yomaia has been a unique experience, but also extremely difficult. During this time, we faced moments of frustration due to internal issues with some of our developers. These team members failed to meet their responsibilities, missed deadlines, and, most concerningly, diverted resources from the project. This situation forced us to take legal action, which has delayed our progress more than we initially anticipated. However, we are pleased to inform you that we won the legal disputes, which has allowed us to move forward with the project, although at a slower pace than we would have liked.
This period of difficulties also required us to replace the employees who were dismissed due to their poor practices. The search for new talent has taken longer than expected, as we are determined not to repeat the same mistakes. To this day, we are still in that process, which continues to affect the development speed, but we are committed to doing things right.
A Shift in Project Direction:
After much reflection from the team, we have concluded that, due to limitations in resources and personnel, we cannot continue developing the game as an MMO at this time. Yomaia was originally planned as a massive multiplayer online (MMO) game, but we have decided to take a different approach, at least temporarily.
To ensure a solid and high-quality product, we have decided to shift the direction of Yomaia and focus on developing it as a Single Player experience. This decision will allow us to improve as developers and also provide us with the opportunity to refine the gameplay and narrative in a more manageable and controlled environment. Once we have the single-player mode fully polished, we will be able to repurpose many of those resources for the future MMO mode, which will enable us to deliver a more robust and seamless experience across both worlds.
We want to make it clear that Yomaia will still be an MMO in the future, but we need more time to perfect this aspect of the game and provide the best possible experience. For now, we will focus on delivering a complete and immersive experience, starting with the Single Player mode.
Updates and Details on the New Map:
We are pleased to announce that the map for the Single Player mode, Zone A, is nearly complete, and we will soon be sharing videos showcasing how it looks. We have invested a significant amount of time and resources into this new phase, utilizing advanced tools such as Fluid Flux to ensure the highest quality in visual experience and environmental design. We want every corner of the map to immerse you in the world of Yomaia, and we have spared no expense in making it as realistic as possible.
The Single Player Mode:
Regarding the Single Player mode, it will be based on classic first-person Survival Horror, from the perspective of a human trapped in a hostile and terrifying world. This mode will seamlessly blend gameplay with narrative, taking suspense and tension to extreme levels. We are committed to reviving the legendary beginnings of Survival Horror, where every decision and movement counts, and where the story intertwines with gameplay to create an unforgettable experience.
We would like to sincerely thank all of you, our incredible community, for your patience, support, and understanding. We know that delays are never easy to accept, but we want you to trust that this is the best decision to ensure Yomaia reaches the market in its best possible version. The coming months will be crucial, and with your support, we are confident the game will reach the level of quality we all expect.
Please stay tuned for future updates, where we will share more details about the game, and feel free to join us on Discord for the latest news.
Once again, thank you for your continued support. Yomaia is still moving forward, and while it may take a little more time, we promise it will be worth the wait!
Sincerely,
The Yomaia Development Team
