I look down and see you all playing dress-up with the darkness, wearing it like a cheap, off-the-rack costume from the party store. It’s almost cute. Almost.
My skeletal legions have no need for masks. My liches do not beg for sweets. Their power is ancient, their terror is real—not some child's game played for a single night.
So, as you decorate your porch, I offer you a true blessing for this season:
May your pumpkins glow with a sinister, infernal light, not some dim, battery-operated flicker.
May the creatures knocking at your door demand a worthy tribute, not a handful of cheap candy corn.
And may the dread you feel in the cold, encroaching dark be sweet… for in that genuine fear lies true power.
As for me… I believe I’ll partake in this “trick or treat.” My undead army is already on the march. I do hope you have something better stocked in your candy bowls than gummy worms. We have… more refined tastes.
Your Overlord.
