Patch v1.210 - Direction Signs, HDR and new jump tutorial

Good morning folks!

A few more tweaks for you!

Direction Signs

At various points in the more complex levels, you will find a newly added TV screen.

If you approach, the screen will light up with direction information to guide you to the different nearby areas.

You can interact to examine the screens, to get an up close look.

HDR setting

UPDATE - It seems there is a Unity limitation to getting HDR working on Steam Deck OLED. I am investigating to see what can be done, but for now running in Vulkan on Proton may work.

If you have an HDR compatible screen connected, you will see a new Enable HDR option in the Advanced Visual Settings.

This is something I've not been able to test myself (as I'm not cool enough to own an HDR enabled screen) but have been reliably informed by folks on the discord that it works.

Have fun!

New Jumping Tutorial

We realised that in making the starting area of the game as friction-free as possible, we weren't making players engage with the jumping system, and people were getting frustrated later in the game.

To that end, we have redesigned the start area so that you need to use the 'hold jump button' system to choose a jump destination to progress. Hopefully this will arm players with a better understanding of the controls!

Here's the rundown :

  • 1.210

    • Direction signs added to various levels

    • Changed an early room layout to force players to use jump/drop choice during the jumping tutorial

    • Experimental! Added ‘HDR Enable’ to Advanced Visual Settings if HDR display is detected.

    • Added In-world screen rendering rate setting (may help with crashes on linux?)

    • Moved Brightness Contrast and Saturation out of Advanced Visual Settings

    • Changed jumping system so that the cat doesn’t bum-wiggle if just sitting still (to allow emotes when next to jumpable ledges etc)

    • Made parkour higher priority than dialogue, to allow cats to exit tubes if talking.

    • Gave the cat 1% chance of going backwards through tubes (100% chance on April 1st) because it was a requested bug on the discord

    • Correction to a lore document

    • Added checkpoint to a very late level

    • Fixed a few decals in Observation Lab

    • Added hints to a few puzzles in Observation Lab

    • Made a detector pad more generous in the same Observation Lab puzzle

    • Turned two draggable trolleys around in Orientation

    • Changed a smartkey sensor on a door in Observation Lab

    • Swapped order of Maintenance Hub data backup hint cameras, to make the route a bit clearer

    • Fixed a typo in a lore document

    • Slight efficiency gain in Research Hub

    • Additional cat photo added to desk in Power Control

    • Added ‘save progress’ note to customisation booth help popup

OK, that's it! Bye!
