Every adventure starts somewhere. In Summa Expeditionis, our journey begins in the game's creation menu.
The first thing you will see is the campaign map where, for now, we will choose The Cantabrian Wars. After choosing the name and appearance of our hero, we go on to selecting our equipment.
In this menu, your choices will ultimately shape the start of our adventure. If we choose the Dolabra, the start of the game will be easier. This versatile tool from ancient Rome allows us to both chop down trees and crush stones, helping us to survive the first few days and start building our camp.
Instead, if we pick the auxiliary spear, we begin with the basic weapon of a recruit with which we can hunt large animals and fight against our enemies with a greater chance of survival. And who knows, we might rescue a prisoner from the clutches of the barbarian who can assist us with our tasks.
We can also choose our furry companion. A pet that will help us from the start of the game. The war dog will defend us from any enemy and will fight fiercely until it removes the threat or gives its life for us. The working dog will lure wild animals with the purpose of domesticating them and will defend farm animals from any predators. And lastly, the cat will maintain high both, camp hygiene, and the morale of your soldiers.
Lastly, we will move to the Legion selector. This is where we choose to which we belong, which will define certain aspects of the game, with each one offering unique benefits.
- The Germanic Legion enjoys advantages in carpentry tasks. They have the unique mission "The Stolen Banner".
- The Augusta Legion will have Stableboys/Workers who are more efficient in gathering resources, and they will be the only ones who can recruit Greek auxiliaries.
- The Macedonian Legion will be most efficient in pottery tasks and will have the military advantage "Veterans of Pharsalos" with which their melee soldiers will excel in combat.
- And lastly, the Hispanic Legion, which can build better defenses from the Tesserarius rank and will be the only ones who can recruit Illyrian auxiliaries.
Once we have made our choices, we can start our life as a legionnaire and the race to become a centurion.
