Salve, centurion! We are back with a new dev diary. This time, explaining how the wood cycle works:
Summa Expeditionis is a survival, management and strategy game set during the Roman Empire.
In our way to become a centurion we will have to survive in the wild, command our soldiers to fight against barbarians and build. Not only a roman camp but also tools, furniture, workbenches, defences and a lot more. We will need many materials but wood specially.
Wood will be the basic material for building through the game. As we progress in our game we will unlock different crafting and building recipes that are classified in tiers. From tier 1 to the last wood will be needed.
In this Dev Diary we want to show you some of the extraction and crafting mechanics of this essential resource.
From the very beginning of your adventure you will notice that even the sticks you find on the floor are useful to experiment and discover the first and simplest recipes. Using first one the dolabra and then an axe you will be able to chop down trees. This hard work is just the start in the task of wood processing. Once the tree is down you have to cut and divide the log in parts you can carry on your shoulders. For a quick access to them you can stack them neatly.
All this process will not be easy. It will consume much time and energy but don’t worry, soon you will be able to send your soldiers and slaves to share the work.
Now with your logs stacked in your camp you have two options.
One of them is to cut them in half in their particular workbench. The result can be stacked again for a later use. The small logs have the perfect size to be used as firewood to feed the fire.
You can also process the logs with the hand saw to turn them into boards to build all types of furniture and other workbenches of a higher tier.
These are just some examples of what you can produce with wood. It will be needed to build the different defensive elements of our camp too, such as fences, walls and watchtowers. As well as in the making of tools and weapons for our soldiers.
The wood processing will be one of the tasks you will have to work on to survive in your campaign through this hostile Cantabrian lands.
We will be back soon with more news so stay tuned for more information, follow our social media and add us to your Steam wishlist.
Choose your path wisely centurion, and achieve glory in Summa Expeditionis.
