Howdy ya'll,
Summer is now upon us, and you know what that means! It is finally too hot outside to go connect with nature, so why not spend sometime indoors with a updated demo build of Olliefrog Toad Skater.
Timed Run!
There's now a 4th polaroid on the level-select screen. "Where does this go?" you might ask.
After a little bit of sweaty refactoring, the dev team is now in a much better position to inject arbitrary game modes! The new Timed Run mode should be familiar to THPS veterans. You've got 2 minutes to complete as many objectives as you can in the park.
Because this is demo, completion of these goals currently won't yield rewards, but in the final game we will have a different, more persistent means of conveying player progression.
Misc Fixes
This update also contains a number of fixes, many of which were on the backburner for a while and are we're now finally able to adequately address:
- Fixed an issued where a skater's yaw rotation could reset when entering a grab trick from certain contexts, which as spine transfers,
- The vert air camera rotation was bugged in cases where the offset vector and the rotation frame were out of sync on entry. The rotation and offset now follow the same source of truth, which should once-and-for-all prevent weird vert-air camera logic from ever resurfacing again :COPIUM:
- The camera position used to noticeably snap when entering a spine transfer when entering vert air from an angled state. This should no longer happen.
- Character orientation when skating from flat surface to flat surface is a bit more well-behaved.
- Ambient underwater fog has now been added for better ambience in Riverbank Hotel.
- The character dialogue box now has a cute little scrolling pattern :3
- The player now starts in an offboard state in the tutorial level.
