Hey everyone!
Welcome back to this months (belated) state of the game! We didn't really have time to write one in time at the beginning of September as we prioritized bug fixing after the Victory Update. On that note: Thanks for the great feedback and patience after the update as a lot of problems showed up really quickly. We tried our best to test as much as possible before release but a dynamic system like the bot is very hard to test. But we are happy to report (and you probably noticed that as well) that the stability is pretty much back to the level it was at before the update.
Roadmap:
The Victory Update was the last big update that we had planned for the Early Access period. The next step will then be to release the game with version 1.0.0! We already talked about this in a previous post but this will be our plan for the road to the full release:
- We are currently working on a "bigger" patch which will release with version 0.6.7 or 0.6.8 which will bring a bunch of requested QoL improvements as well as some balancing improvements plus some additional bug fixes.
- We will then monitor the games state (bugs and other problems) and patch any issues that come up.
- Update 1.0.0 will then release as soon as we find the game to be really stable. Update 1.0.0 will not contain any new features or changes but will instead be the latest version promoted to 1.0.0 so that the release version is as stable as prossible.
Future:
So whats the plan after the full release?
We will continue to fix issues and bring small improvements from time to time but we will take a break from developing any big features for some time. But there will be at least one more major update in the future: The Modding / Workshop Update! We can finally start planning for proper modding support now that most systems in the game are stable. We don't have an ETA for this update yet but it will probably take some time so our guess is that it will release in spring 2024.
Current state:
Big TODOs:
- Modding support - Coming with the Workshop Update in the future
- "Large planets" world type - We are currently investigating if that technically possible or if it will cause any problems / negatively impact the game in any way
- An option to speed up the game through a world option for faster paced more competetive multiplayer rounds (The game speed itself will be the same but buildings and other stuff will work faster or consume less resources)
Quality of life:
Here is a list of QoL changes that are in the works or on our TODO list:
- Auto upgrade mode for the city center
- Double click spaceship groups to jump to the group
- Idle spaceships selection key
- Ability to save and load flag presets
- A world option to increase or decrease the amount of resources generated in if limited resources are enabled
Bugs:
As we have already mentioned before: The Victory Update had quite a few bugs but we managed to squasch most of them but not all. Here is a current list of bugs that we are working on at the moment.
- There is a rare but annoying bug that can cause items and credits to desync in multiplayer. If you have a savegame in which that happens reliably then please send it to us via Discord or to [email protected]!
- Some people seem to experience a savegame loading issue but we haven't been able to reproduce it. If you have a savegame in which that happens reliably then please send it to us via Discord or to [email protected]!
- Easy bots can currently crash the game if they try to colonize a gas planet
- There is another rare crash caused by bots in general that can occure during combat
- There is a rare bug that can cause a crash when entering the loading screen
Thats it for this months SotG! This might also be the last SotG for now as we want to focus on the full release! Thank you all again for the crazy journey from the beginning of the Early Access phase until now!
