Last Chance Residents & Market Shoppers
It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to inform you that the opening of the Market will be delayed. While I had hoped to have the repairs completed by the end of Elktober, I must admit the damage from the electrical fire earlier this summer, which claimed the lives of two people, was far more extensive than I had originally estimated. With staff shortages limiting us to two full time employees, earthquake related road closures and regular power grid disruptions due to the ongoing solar flare activity, we have simply been unable to complete the work on our expected schedule. My commitment is to the best shopping experience possible, and with that in mind I now expect us to be ready for shoppers in the second half of November. In the meantime, we will be conituing our weekend Farmer's Market style sales in the parking lot until the store opens again.
On the bright side, we've taken this opportunity to update the store with some exciting new features. Our new technology, featuring the deimOS AI system, is ready to make your visit to Last Chance Market better than ever. We have a new interactive shopping assistant, the Ellpad, to help you quickly hunt down your shopping lists. Swing by our new recipe kiosk to find delicious recipes featuring our sales of the day. Or utilize the new self checkout to avoid waiting in line!
I do want to mention that we are still inviting participants in the annual Elktober FunHunt to park in our lot, conveniently located across from the starting point at Leng Forest Visitor Center. We will have paintball supplies for those coming as Hunters as well as locally made, lightweight antlers for those participating as Elk. Additionally, we will have GPS, maps and bear spray on sale for everyone involved. A record number of forest search and rescues had to be made this year, be sure you FunHunt safely and responsibly!
Lastly, I want to give a big shout out to the Last Chance Secondary School's hockey team for the amazing fundraiser they had in the parking lot last week. The community support was amazing and will allow them to get all the equipment they need this year. Big thanks to everyone involved. GO TSUNAMIS!
