Patch Notes - April 12, 2023 - New Hero: Tony!

Developer Notes

Hey Crafters!

We’re over the moon by the response to the Spellcraft Public Alpha. Thank you so much for playing, streaming, and sharing feedback. We’ve been dropping a balance patch almost every day for the duration of the test, looking at data about how various strategies, Heroes and spells are performing across the MMR spectrum, and reading all of your feedback about how the game’s feeling. We’re back with another patch – this time with a big surprise.

One common request we’ve read was that it’d be nice to have another tank to choose from in the lineup, and so we decided to drop one. Here’s what Tony’s all about:

Tony is a disruptive tank who is not very fond of spell damage so when he drops below a certain health threshold he will gain massive spell resistance to shut down the haters.

Both of his basic spells will interrupt/stun enemies: one version hits all enemies in a line, while the other makes him fly across the map to interrupt one enemy.

Patch Notes

Bug Fixes

  • All MMR adjustments that were lost during our service outage have been restored, showing that Eurantien, not Arroz_con_Mango, was the first player to achieve Sovereign! Congrats Eurantien!
  • The Sovereign ranked emblem should now properly display for players on the leaderboard.
  • Fixed some text expanding outside a background on match summary
  • “Hover Links” for upgrade descriptions will auto expand in the team builder, previously only links for the non upgraded spell were displayed.

Gameplay

  • Added a new Tank Hero to the game – Tony, the Royal Guard.
  • Xaev and Aster respawn abilities will always attempt to target the hovered row as long as there is an empty space for the hero to spawn
  • Zap magic damage amp 30% → 40%
  • Zap upgrade magic damage amp 50% → 60%
  • Rocket Jump now restores 100 barrier on use

UI/UX

  • Added a Patch Notes button to the home screen
  • When hovering gems on the match summary screen, the stats for that round is displayed. Clicking will lock to displaying that round as it previously did.
  • The item selection UI has widened a bit because it’s been sneakily eating candy bars out in the garage
