Builders!
We’re back with another exciting update straight from the heart of Chinese Frontiers. If you’ve been following along, you already know that every detail in our game is crafted with passion, care, and a deep respect for history and culture. Today, we’re taking you behind the scenes to explore one of the most artistry-striking elements of the game - our cutscenes.
Let’s Talk Cutscenes!
Cutscenes are more than breaks between gameplay - they’re windows into the soul of a story. In Chinese Frontiers, they set the tone, deepen the narrative, and help players immerse in our world. From epic moments to quiet, introspective scenes, these animations are designed to feel as authentic as the monuments you’re building.
Instead of opting for the popular 3D style, we decided to take a different route. Our animated cutscenes are inspired by traditional Chinese ink wash techniques, creating a visual language that feels both timeless and unique. Every frame feels like it’s been lifted from an ancient scroll, blending the fluidity of ink with the dynamic storytelling of animation.
But that’s not all - you might notice subtle hints of comic book artistry in these forms. The result? A style that bridges tradition and modern storytelling, perfectly capturing the spirit of Chinese Frontiers!
Something more…
But the cutscenes in Chinese Frontiers aren’t there just to look pretty! They’re an integral part of the journey. By guiding players through our characters' lives, they deepen your connection to the world and its history.
Whether you’re witnessing a touching moment between family members or a pivotal event in their village, these scenes add layers of meaning to your building adventures.
Want to know more about how these stunning animations came to life? We’ve got a special treat for you! Check out our latest video, where Kuba, our talented concept artist, dives into the creative process and the inspiration behind the art. Trust us, it’s a must-watch for anyone who appreciates the intersection of history and creativity.
