12 Days of Coal-smas!
I'm EXCITED to announce that the 12 Days of Coal-smas FREE EVENT has now started - 5 days early! Here's a quick recap:
Larry Jefferson from Ravenwood, the leader of Continental Rangers who is also doing every year's "Santa Claus duty", has run into a big problem: some prankster has sent 12 mysterious presents to him via Airdrop Events, and he must find and open each to reveal a code, so that his family back in the States can enjoy Christmas in peace. Outrageous! But wait, each present is also rigged with a bomb!
Will you help Larry out and save his family and this year's Christmas Spirit? I heard he's pretty generous with rewards! Let's go!
To start the quest, simply go to Ravenwood (requires the Ravenwood Stories DLC, but it's such an awesome DLC and you will never regret getting it ːsteamhappyː), find the Continental Rangers and ask Larry about Christmas. Along the way of completing his quest, he'll give you three pieces of cool and powerful Christmas-themed equipment ːsteamhappyː
But wait! You can also receive an Exclusive Mystery Reward from Larry after completing the quest, for signing up for the TUNGUSKA Broadcast mail list! To be honest, I'm building and nurturing this mail list to build a fan base for the sequel of this game - Tunguska 2: Whitefall. The mail list is not here to keep bugging you to buy anything. Instead, it releases an "episode" of a continuous story every 2 weeks that provides a sneak peek of the lore, background, and mysteries of the Zone under Whitefall, and it leads directly to the beginning of the sequel's main storyline. If you love the Tunguska Zone, you wouldn't want to miss this :)
You can sign up for the mail list by visiting my official website:
https://tunguskagame.com/
Once completed, you'll receive two welcome emails, one starts the story, and the other will give you a key to enable the reward ːsteamhappyː Just follow the instructions in the email and enjoy the ride!
And feel free to check out the videos/screenshots, and add Tunguska 2: Whitefall to your wishlist :)
The Final Cut
You probably have noticed that the game's title has changed to "Tunguska: The Visitation - Final Cut". For all these years after release, I have been less than satisfied with the ending of the base game's main storyline. However, with all the bug fixing, feature enhancements, post-launch new contents, and all the translation work, I never had the time to think about how to make it better.
But I just can't stand leaving it feeling "unfinished", so I took some time and figured out a way to wrap up the story better. Now, with the 1.95 update, there are now four ways the game might end, depending on a few choices you make near the end of the story, each bringing a different closure to the story. Without spoiling too much, I'll just say that with each ending, you'll either end up with a little perk, or you get to unlock a "bittersweet" outcome that comes with an achievement.
Important Edit Note: There is a known issue for some players due to the save game state during when the update is released. To avoid this issue, make sure to travel back to Zernaskaya Village and Railroad Worker Camp before the final mission in Oblenska, especially if you are very close to the end. If you have run into this issue, there's a pinned thread in the Community Discussions with a solution.
Road to 1500 Reviews!
Let's make it fun, like we did last time when hitting 1000 reviews - once we hit the 1500 milestone, I'll add a new fun weapon to the game. Let's go :)
Lots of Gameplay Enhancements!
The 1.95 update also brings dozens of enhancements and fixes to the game:
When starting the "protect Haruko" quest, it won't just trigger right away which feels lazy and rushy. Instead, you'll have some time to prepare until you're notified about the incoming enemies.
Unlooted dead NPCs will remain on the map as "loot pouches" when you leave the map for 24 hours. After that, if you leave again, they'll be gone for good. Previously, they go away as soon as you leave the map.
If you are carrying a Distortion detector and walk near a Distortion, you'll not only hear the "beep" but also see a flashing icon on the screen. This is to help hearing-impaired players.
All the warning icons on the left side of the screen will try to line up from bottom to top instead of how they currently just scatter around.
The detectors will no longer constantly drain battery. Instead, they'll drain battery when they are actively warning you about radiation/Distortion.
The bubble and whirlwind Distortions will become slightly more visible now to make the experience less jarring and feeling "unfair". But you still need to be careful, watch out, and use detectors.
The final boss in the base game's main storyline will now be more challenging for normal/nightmare/sticks and stone mode because he'll wield a big machinegun.
Improved how human NPCs with full-auto weapons perform trigger control. They'll fire shorter bursts if the gun has higher rate of fire and if the target is further away.
Fixed an exploit where you can sell a recipe to a non-trader NPC and then immediately buying it back for 0 rubles.
Here's a nice one: if you are 100% relationship with any of the three Cossacks factions, they'll send you a warning message within 24 hours before a Visitation happens.
Visitations will also progress significantly slower, giving you more time to find cover and finish the battle.
Fixed an issue with the camera tilting up/down unnecessarily when aiming with controller.
Fixed a bug with Slaughterhouse mode where if you die right before a wave begins, the game just stuck there due to errors.
Fixed a bug where a grenade explosion will have no effect if it's right next to a bump on the ground.
You can now sell weapons in the Sell Crate in Ravenwood, next to your house.
If you pause the game and then Alt-Tab out of it, the game will be muted so that it won't interfere with your other applications.
Improved the strangling movements so that player has less chance of stuck inside walls.
Enemy NPC guards will no longer teleport to their post if the game loads with the player between their spawn points and the posts.
Throwing distance was bugged under certain positions.
Fixed a bug where NPCs throw grenades super close.
I Need Your Help :)
This is one of the biggest updates I ever released. As you can imagine, I was working day after day until my brain fries, and today I used every minute I had (even though it's my son's birthday) to get the update out in time for Sunday, which is when most folks get to enjoy gaming time. So it was as hectic a day as it could be! I have tested as much as I could, but I'm sure there are gonna be hiccups. Please let me know in the forum if you notice anything strange :) Thank you for your patience with me!
