Conquest Mode info
In Conquest Mode, the player chooses one of the 9 playable characters and sets about trying to conquer all territory in a procedurally generated world map.
The player is able to recruit only monsters that match their own element, and they can level up and use these monsters to fight alongside them in combat, leave to guard territory from any enemy hordes that are present (or will be) or can send them on money missions to raise more money (either to recruit more soldiers or provide more money to level up current soldiers). Watch out for your soldiers/monsters -- they die permanently if their HP reaches 0.
The enemy will be present in all territories except for your character's starting territory, and they will bring in more hordes to re-capture territory. All enemies will consist of an element that is NOT of the player character, and therefore will never have the same monsters/soldiers as the player.
Sometimes these enemy hordes will bring field effects (fire, water, wind and earth) that will make combat far more dangerous -- damage-over-time from fire, knockdown from pools of water, sudden area-of-effect knockback from wind and decreased movement speed from earth. Whoever owns labs, temples and caves gets stat boosts for their side -- terrain and weather end up being important considerations and can make or break an outcome.
On Legend Difficulty, aside from its typical changes (enemy stats rise faster per level, enemies are relentless, enemies have half cooldown), enemy hordes will arrive much faster and will ALWAYS bring a negative field effect with them.
