Before the thermals where in fixed positions across the map, and you could predict where one was going to be. To make the gameplay more dynamic thermals now populate randomly across the terrain. Each thermal spawns at a different strength, and when active is forming clouds above it. This makes it a bit more challenging and keeps you on your toes looking for that next big thermal. You can also fly far across the map as the thermals randomly populate around you. In theory you should be able to fly off the map ;) Here is a video of making it to cloud base: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_p_rHj-sbA
