We are very excited to announce that the Computer Companion has been updated to version 4.
This is an entirely new version that introduces exciting new features and support for The Lost Tome of Extrordinay Rules.
Version 4 is a free upgrade from version 3. It will automatically upgrade the adventurer file to version 4. (The version 3 adventure file will be saved as "[original name].xml.V3 - or .V2 as appropriate".)
The Lost Tome of Extraordinary Rules is available on Steam as a DLCs which can be purchased using the Steam console or withing the game (Settings/Features). Note that like the Computer Companion, the PDFs and printed books must be purchased separately.

New Features
As already mentioned, all features in The Lost Tome of Extraordinary Rules are now supported.
A new means to be able to move items in-between various locations: On the Ground. This permits more complicated moves between equipment, backpack, etc. It also formalizes a place for deleted items prior to their full deletion. It is well documented in the Help system.
The before-your-next-quest log is now saved and restored.
All of the windows that were split into top and bottom now have a version that is not split. This is useful for larger displays.
If an item is acquired that can be drunk, when choosing where to place the item, a Drink button is now available.
Test failure and success is now logged. These can be enabled/disabled in settings: Logging. They may also be individually colored. Not that Verbose must be enabled to see these messages.
All the windows now support the mouse wheel.
Right clicking on a tab allows the tab text to be changed.
The logging text is now aware of the operating system display theme (light, dark, etc.) A new button has been added to each of the entries in Settings/Logging: Auto. It changes the color from user-specified to automatic. While this is the default for new users, pre-existing users will need to select Auto to enable this feature.
Settings
A new setting group: Display.
A new setting: Display/Main Window Left Right Border. When enabled, it adds a small border to the left and right of the main window to help set off the interior windows. This is useful when the main window is displayed maximized.
A new setting: AutoRoll/Subsidiary/Equipment slot. When enabled, the roll button will be pressed automatically when a search for an Equipment slot is needed (generally for a penalty). Note that if multiple rolls are required to locate an appropriate equipment slot only the last successful roll will be shown.
A new setting group: Features. This allows the individual books (DLC's) to be enabled/disabled. While this was added primarily for testing, some users may find this useful as the Companion does change based on what books have been purchased.
Changed
The Adventurer Sheet - Top has been renamed to Adventurer Sheet Front - Top.
The Adventurer Sheet - Bottom has been renamed to Adventurer Sheet Front - Bottom.
The Backpack - Top has been renamed to Adventurer Sheet Back - Top.
The Backpack - Bottom has been renamed to Adventurer Sheet Back - Bottom.
When printing the quest, the backgrounds will now be transparent. Also, the Quests display has been made larger.
During the Before Your Next Quest phase, the Next Quest button is now always enabled. If there is an action that must be taken prior to the next quest, a warning will be shown and next quest will not start.
The quest used to be considered complete as soon as the quest criteria was satisfied. This could cause the adventurer to miss out on portions of a reward or various other multi-roll results. The quest will now be considered complete when the action that caused the completion has itself been completed.
Items acquired during a quest can no longer be sold upon acquisition. They may only be sold during the Before Your Next Quest phase.
When entering an area, the footprints used to be placed at the exit that was used to enter the area. They will now be placed on the exit opposite face of the area. If that face does not contain an exit, another face will be chosen, ending with the face that was entered.
The witchery damage and defence adjustments are no longer included on the adventure sheet total adjusted line as there is a seperate log message when these adjustments are applied.
When selecting how to apply experience, if there are no skills available, the 1 pip will automatically be applied to the appropriate characteristic.
The names of some of the monsters in the Dragon Quest now have the paragraph number included to eliminate ambiguity.
The Invisibility spell can now only be cast during combat.
View/Dock All Windows has been removed.
The transportation boost may only be used once per quest.
The various brews of DMG have been added to the Adventure Magic display.
The Settings/Text size has been moved to Settings/Display/Text size.
The row highlighting in equipment, backpack, etc. has been smartened to skip rows that are ineligible.
When a Bag of Gold Pieces is now acquired, the user can choose to keep the bag or just the gold pieces.
Most of the windows will now present their data centered (horizontally and vertically).
During BYNQ - Heal, one can now heal all of the poison and/or disease.
When one of the three Boosts that repair items (Mend, Repair, Fixed) are applied and there is nothing available to repair, a message will be displayed instead of requiring Cancel to be selected.
Edit Mode
Edit mode has now been integrated with the Play window. This makes it clearer, cuts down on the number of popup dialogs, and allows for better end-of-quest testing. The main menu Edit has been removed and replaced with Adventurer/Edit.
When editing an item, the four flowers associated with TableG item 70 (Tree) have been moved from the Misc table to Geographic.
