This small update brings performance enhancements and gameplay bug fixes that I have been meaning to buckle down and sort out for a long time.
Gameplay fixes:
- Fixed bug with sawing multiple lumber. The saw now behaves more consistently when sawing through multiple lumber within the same lumber assembly and when sawing stacks of loose lumber.
- Large lumber assemblies no longer jump/hop when new lumber is nailed or when a member lumber is sawed
- Fixed mass calculation bug for certain orientations when sawing on a lumber assembly. This caused assemblies to lose their mass and seem very squishy. This no longer happens.
- Added consideration to the center of mass when computing the stiffness and damping properties of hand grips. This makes large, lightweight items not be as springy while holding them. (e.g. 5 boards strung together in a single line).
- Fixed a bug with the table vise so it grabs items more reliably on the first try.
- Fixed bug with manipulating lumber assemblies while they are held in the table vise, and then the table vise releasing the assemblies. This no longer happens.
Increased performance:
- Changed from multi pass to single pass stereo rendering
- Using more shared materials to reduce draw calls
- Combined static meshes on main menu scene
- Ensured small meshes using same materials are being dynamically batched (e.g. primarily nails and lumber)
- Added Level of Detail to nails. They render more simplified or get culled as they are further away from you to save rendering time.
