Gosh, it's been almost a YEAR since my last devlog... So much for doing them once a month.
Where have I been?
Well, I've been here, but I haven't been actively working on Monsty Corp for quite a while.
Unfortunately, for personal issues I won't get fully into right now, I've made the decision to completely remove the second player character "Alex" from the story. This means rewriting various parts of the story to accommodate for the absence of one of it's player characters. I did honestly try to continue writing writing this characters parts of the game, but found I just simply cannot and will be removing it.
For other reasons, into the future I'll be rewriting some of "Robins" parts, I take a lot of inspiration from people in my life for the characters I make, with "Robin" being heavily inspired by an idealised version of myself, the sort of person I wish I was. However, I feel like it doesn't fit the story, nor the kind of game I want to make, if the player character is literally "me". So while rewriting parts of the story to remove Character 2, I'll be rewriting "Robin" to be less... me coded... I want you guys to be able to proper insert yourselves into their shoes, which is kind of hard when the player character is literally just a slightly better version of a real person.
An update to Monsty Corps format
I never really saw Monsty Corp as a traditional game, I've spent most of my focus of this game working on its story, and I've come to realise that in my writing for Monsty Corp, I've been following an episodic format. And so I've decided that rather then charging $20usd for the full game, I'll instead be splitting up the games chapters into different DLC, allowing me to continue working on the game into the future, long after I finish Chapter 5. Though for obvious reasons, I still don't want to charge too much for this game, so as it stands, each "chapter" is about $5usd, with Chapter 1 & 2 being included in the base game (which will be $6usd during Early Access, and $5usd on release), this means the total cost for the "full story" (excluding the Prequels DLC) will still be about $20usd, however you now have the ability to not buy the rest of the story should you lose interest. It will also help in occasions where you may not have the money for the full game, but you do for a select amount of content.
Along with this, Chapter 1 will be released for free just before, and during the games Early Access period as a "Demo". The demo will however be removed after the game leaves Early Access.
Other less important announcements
I've updated the "developer" for Monsty Corp, rather then be developed by Lockyz Media, I've renamed the development side of things to Lockyz Dev. This should only change the actual store page, and the games title sequence. Similar changes are being made to all my other games, so watch their pages if you'd like to know how things will change for them.
I've created a Discord server for the Monsty Corp Universe (or what I like to call, the "Monsty" Universe), this is the official home for all games set within the Monsty Universe, you can learn about some other content that's being made that connect to Monsty Corp in some way. (Note, things are VERY barebones right now, and will be until the games release.)
