The Japanese pop-folk singer Yoma Aoki reminds me of that guy in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou who plays all the David Bowie songs on his guitar. Needless to say, I'm a little bit smitten with him. His first song (I can't read Japanese so can't tell you its name) had me smiling from ear to ear--it is such an awesome feel-good tune. The second song is a fun speedy run toward the end with some super-fast Japanese spoken word and flamenco-style guitar. I'm gonna need some translation help with these.
Rounding out the Japanese theme, I've included a couple songs from Secret Ocean. "Kokoro No Furyoku" and "Beautiful" sound like the euphorically happy songs on the end credits of an anime movie.
All in all, it's an optimistic, feel-good kind of week in Audiosurf-land.
