This week on Radio we kick things off with a little Ukranian ska from 100PydOFF. "Proschay" starts off with a Caribbean vibe, but slams into the horns pretty quick. "Pivo SKA i football" has some wicked bumps. Any of my Russian homies want to translate these?
Then we move into three minute-or-less instrumental pieces. All you perfectionists can play these songs over and over again and still have time to eat a sandwich on your lunch break.
Norm's "Drummers--Kerala" is a minute of incredibly fast paced Indian drumming. As a side note, check out track 7 on his album of travel sounds to hear two Indian girls singing "Scarborough Fair" in a windy Indian mountain pass--it's really beautiful.
Next, a couple of 40-second pieces from Argentina's Caby Cardoso. The first, "Llanto Allegre" is a pan-pipe piece, and the second, "Claraboya", is a spoken word and harmonica piece. Anyone care to translate?
