Quick update
I’ve been a bit quiet for the past weeks, so I thought that it would be a good idea to write a little blog to explain what I’ve been up to.
Next update
I’ve been working on adding outdoor restaurants and balconies. This turned out to be a bit more tricky than i anticipated because a lot of game mechanics/code relies on there being a clear distinction between grid tiles that are inside the restaurant and tiles that are outside the restaurant. When I add the ability to make outdoor restaurants, this distinction won’t be so clear anymore. This caused a lot of issues that had to be addressed. I will release the update to the building system on the 30th of april.
Update cycle
Previously, I’ve released updates on a bi-weely cycle. This didn’t really work for me because some things take a bit longer to implement. The need to have a playable build every 2 weeks prevented me from making the big changes that are needed to make TasteMaker the game that I want it to be. That's why I’ve decided to release bigger, less frequent updates. These updates won’t be released on a fixed schedule. As mentioned, the next update will be on the 30th of april.
Experimental branch
I’m also planning to release updates more frequently on the experimental branch. These updates can be very unstable but if you want to preview the latest changes, you will be able to view them on there. Hopefully doing it this way can also help to make the main branch more stable.
The devblogs will only be made for updates to the stable branch. But I might release some patch notes for the experimental branch in the discord and steam discussion group.
The next experimental update will be released this wednesday (21st of april)
Team expansion
I’ve been talking to 2 freelance artists who will hopefully be able to start working on the game this week. This can not only increase the development speed, but also the quality of the art.
