Online Co-op now available! Multiplayer Update [#4] + Upcoming Full Release

Duo online co-op now available

  • One player hosts the game, another joins through the Steam Friend List

  • Steam Datagram Relay is used, there is no need to forward ports, host and client IP addresses are hidden

  • The host can autosave the game progress on every completed level

  • There is currently only one save for solo runs and only one save for co-op runs (belonging to the host, any client can join any co-op save)

  • The host and the client have their own superpowers, some superpowers have global effects

  • The host and the client have their own mutations, in case of different mutations the effect is chosen based on which player is closer to the event

Requirements for Host

300KB/s upload speed, 100KB/s download speed, minimum 1280MTU, <20% UDP packet loss, minimum 200/200 packets per second up/down

Requirements for Client

100KB/s upload speed, 300KB/s download speed, minimum 1280MTU, <20% UDP packet loss, minimum 200/200 packets per second up/down

Additional changes

  • Simulation and netcode tickrate increased to 200hz

  • Greatly reduced input latencies

  • Netcode extrapolation in case of dropped UDP packets

  • Rebalanced kinetics and speeds of entities

  • A lot of QoL related to Steam overlay and Rich Presence

Upcoming Full Release Update Plan

As the core features are almost fully polished now, the Full Release will happen after Update #5 somewhere next week. Afterwards the updates will be content updates (new biomes, environmental interactions), variety updates (more behaviors, superpowers, etc.) and QoL updates
