A lot to cram into this post, but before we get started, a massive thanks to everyone who has supported Severed Steel by buying and playing the game, leaving a review, streaming it, talking about it on social media, and anyone who has helped spread the word. We've been blown away by the response since we launched a week ago, so thank you.
Onto the post...
FUTURE CONTENT UPDATES
Severed Steel is not intended or designed to be a game that folks simply stop playing after a single completion of the campaign and, based on how much time we saw people putting into the pre-launch demos, we didn't think they would. However, we want as many players as possible to have a positive feeling about the game, so we want to do what we can to address complaints of it being too short.
And the best way to do that is obviously with... MORE CONTENT!
We're happy to say more content is on the way, specifically a Campaign+ mode that allows mutators unlocked in Firefight to be enabled in Campaign. Also, the team is working on new levels for both Campaign and Firefight. However, we politely request your patience while Matt Larrabee, the developer behind the game, takes a break. Game dev and game launches can be an exhausting, brain-frazzling experience. Matt has worked tirelessly getting Severed Steel to this point, and he needs some chill time.
In addition to the new content already being worked on, we'd love to know what new features you'd most like to see added to the game. So, click the following link and use the form to tell us what new/extra stuff you want in Severed Steel: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1fJt7WChG5bvKqcMhqpNihtntr0htGuSarjjhj99Ieg0/edit
COMMUNITY MAPS
There are already some amazing maps created using the level editor for Firefight mode available to download from Steam Workshop, so we thought it would be cool to highlight a few of the ones we've been enjoying so far.
DUST 2 (created by 'rottis')

A very cool approximation of the classic Counter-Strike desert-based map. It mixes open areas with narrow connection points, and CS players will recognise the starting area as the terrorist spawn location from the original. Don't forget you can use the rooftops, and watch out for flying enemies, which can be hard to spot/target against the bright sky.
THE CITY (created by 'Ouroborroso')

This map is all about dramatic, action-movie flow and feel, and it's a thrill to play. Plenty of glass to smash through, buildings to leap between, small gaps to show off your stunt and movement skills, and a breathtaking rooftop slide. Oh, and it looks stylish as hell thanks to its neon-lit night setting. We've had a lot of fun here, perfecting our run and shaving seconds off our time.
HOUSE (created by 'Firestorm447')

Holy hell, this is HARD! There are 23 enemies surrounding you from the get-go, including two flamethrower dudes who take great joy in burning up the place, making it even more tricky as the house fills with smoke and flames. Even attempting this map on the easiest 'Cold Steel' difficulty is a serious challenge, but it's a cool scenario we have masochistically enjoyed playing.
[CORE] (created by FXCloud)

This compact, symmetrical map is split over two floors, and has an outer oval circuit connected in the middle by open walkways. It's a devilish little layout that means you can be exposed to enemy fire at nearly all times. What we really love about this map, though, is how much it looks like it could easily pass as part of the EdenSys building!
Thanks to all mapmakers who have made use of the level editor so far and shared their creative endeavours with the community. For anyone who wants to get involved, feel free to join the Severed Steel Discord. There are dedicated channels for the level editor where you can ask questions, and the dev or other users are happy to provide answers, advice, tips etc.
And if you enjoy playing any of the community-created maps, don't forget to give them a boost with a positive rating!
SPEEDRUNNING
Severed Steel is all about motion and flow, which makes it a perfect fit for speedrunning. So we're delighted leaderboards for Severed Steel are now open at speedrun.com! If you fancy yourself as a fleet-footed mover, get over there and get involved. We can't wait to see some incredible times and runs. There's also a Severed Steel speedrunning community raring to go on Discord: https://discord.gg/x4ymmkSktN
That's about the lot for now. We'll keep you posted with new news whenever we have something to share, but in the meantime... KEEP IT STEEL!
