Hi! My name is Andrey, and I’m the community manager for Cartel Tycoon. Today we want to tell you about one of the upcoming changes we’re introducing in the August Update - From Russia With Love. We’ve been closely monitoring your feedback and making improvements to the logistics of the game: specifically how your goods are moved, packed, and stored. Today, we’re finally ready to reveal how we’re reworking things.
You may have noticed that this part of the update wasn’t on our Roadmap. We decided that it’s crucial to make our logistics system more flexible, fun, and much easier to control as soon as possible. After all, it’s one of the core gameplay mechanics of Cartel Tycoon, and we want the game to be enjoyable in all of its aspects. We understood that we need to make adjustments to existing structures and mechanics and introduce some new ones. There’s a couple of innovations that will make your management feel more fluid and give you more control over your operation.
The first building being reworked is the Warehouse. We are removing the ability for your warehouse to work with buildings outside of its radius. We want each building to have a distinct role in the game’s ecosystem to allow for a more localized, intricate logistical design. Therefore, from this update, the warehouse will only import, store and transport goods to and from buildings within its radius. Another essential building that is changing in the update is the Workshop.
Previously, the Workshop was performing two jobs, both packing and transporting produce. From your feedback, it seemed that this was, well, not ideal and a bit confusing, especially to new players. That’s why after this update, Workshops will only be used for packing the product while another new building will handle the transportation...
Introducing the Transportation Company - your one-stop shop for smuggling all your merchandise. This building doesn’t have a radius - instead, you will be able to customize its links to suit your drug empire, ahem… “business network.” By upgrading the Transportation Company, you will get access to more trucks and more storage space. We believe that the introduction of the Transportation Company will make controlling the logistics part of the gameplay much more precise. And talking about control…
This update also introduces a much-requested feature, Cargo filters, to our buildings! From this update, you will be able to select which products should be delivered to each facility individually. Don’t want to sell Opium through the aerodrome even when it’s connected to the Transportation Company building moving Opium? Just click on the filter tab and deselect Opium, and it won’t deliver to the Aerodrome anymore! Worried about Grandma looking over your shoulder? Have a Warehouse just for veggies? A Workshop just for TVs with cannabis? Sure thing!
Each of these changes will serve to rework the gameplay loop entirely, making this update exciting for returning players and new Capos. Thanks to all of you for suggesting these changes on Steam forums and official Discord, and we can’t wait for you to try these changes out for yourself!
In fact, we’re so excited for you to try the new system, we’ll be holding a playtest of the update in the coming weeks - join our Discord if you don’t want to miss it! Of course, this isn’t the only change that will come in the August Update - we will be sharing more info on our socials and next devlogs!
