Maybe I'll whisper some secrets to my new admirer. Scandalous, powerful secrets. The kind that could topple systems.
Hello everyone!
With the Early Access launch of Star Dynasties being only a week away, it's time to look at an important mechanic in the game: secrets.

What are secrets?
This might speak for itself, but a secret is information that is hidden from other characters in the game. Any noble worth their salt will accrue some dirty laundry over the course of their life.
A secret is created whenever you or any other character in the game does something that they'd rather not share with the rest of the galaxy. Dishonorable acts like defaming, creating unrest, and assassinations all generate secrets. Of course, you will also find less important secrets, like discovering that your father has... feelings for your sister-in-law.

Any secret can be discovered passively by family members or others who know you, like vassals or bordering enemies. The likelihood of your scandalous secrets remaining clandestine is based mostly on your house's Security score. If you and your head of Security have a high combined score, your secrets will be much harder to discover, and you will more easily learn your enemies' confidential information.
Just... make sure you send the right person. Getting caught snooping around will damage your reputation.

What do I do with secrets?
Thankfully, you can cover up your own secrets, and unless you're strapped for cash, that is usually a good thing to do. One of your house members will have to spend a turn or two getting rid of the evidence. If you let them do their work long enough, the secret will eventually become impossible to uncover!

When you uncover another person's secret, you can choose to reveal that at any point. Depending on the gravity of the secret, it can have a serious impact on their happiness and reputation. Revealing someone's secret at the right time is key in winning the political game.
