Hello soldiers!
In response to some initial feedback, some immediate optimization and performance improvements have been made to Brass Brigade. Namely, bot AI has been strongly adjusted so that their artificial intelligence processing is more evenly distributed as the game runs. This means that players should see performance increases across the board.
Please keep in mind that while users should experience a framerate improvement, there will still always exist an upper limit to what your machine can reasonably handle. You should adjust both the bot counts and CPU Time settings in the instant action menu until you find a balance that you're happy with - this update should allow you to have a wider window before you feel too much of a performance loss.
So, the overall notes are as follows:
- Optimized bot AI scripts to more evenly distribute load balancing across game simulation time. This can be further controlled by adjusting the CPU Time sliders in the instant action menu for further user control; increasing the CPU Time slider will result in more intelligent and aggressive bot behavior at the expense of performance while decreasing it will result in less intelligent bots while reducing CPU strain and potentially increasing performance.
- When players adjust the bot counts in the main menu, the CPU Time sliders will automatically adjust themselves to a suggested setting to optimize performance experience for desired bot count. The player can them readjust the CPU Time sliders if they wish to override the suggested setting.
With this in mind, I hope this helps Brass Brigade move closer to it's mission of highly customizable match settings. Optimization is always a tricky business, but initial internal testing has shown promise, and I hope you can now share in that performance increase with this update.
