Ever since we announced Food Truck Simulator we continuously received feedback about making the food truck drivable. Especially lately this seems to be the top request.
Now, initially we didn’t plan on driving the food truck as such, but similar to the player feedback, the notion to drive it kept coming back every now and then during development meetings and testing sessions.
So it was just a matter of time before we caved in and now we made the decision to pursue the food truck become freely drivable. We are currently prototyping the driving itself, but the bigger challenge than driving the food truck are the other cars on the streets and traffic in general.
While parking the food truck on the map allowed us to use traffic that just looked nice, driving the food truck yourself requires the traffic to by fully dynamic and react to all your actions.
Our other game, Gas Station Simulator, has a basic dynamic traffic system that we ported to Food Truck Simulator and really ramped it up over the past months. As a result, we now have a fully featured traffic system in place with rush hours, roadworks, jams, accidents and everything else that you’d expect from traffic in a city.
With that major obstacle sorted, we are now working on the driving behavior of the food truck itself, which as mentioned is the way smaller task.
Please note that the screenshot above shows an incomplete food truck interior, it's just a placeholder for the time being, but we really wanted to show you something from the driving. You can expect us to show you some in-game footage in the upcoming weeks as we decided to make it part of the game’s demo we started working on.
