Ossu!
We want to start the New Year with a bang, so today we're taking you behind the scenes of the story that drives JDM: Japanese Drift Master. In our game, the narrative seamlessly intertwines with the gameplay, creating a harmonious and dynamic storytelling rhythm. The gameplay loop begins with manga sequences, followed by a story-driven event - a race - and then transitions back to open-world exploration with the next event location marked on the map. It all adds up to a rich and immersive experience.
While JDM: Japanese Drift Master is primarily a tribute to Japanese car culture, drifting and the challenges of winding mountain roads, it is also a story of dreams, struggles, and the search for a new beginning. Meet Touma - the main protagonist who enters a world where drifting is not just a passion, but a way of life.
But before we dive into the story, we have prepared something special for you! Watch and feel the atmosphere that will soon be part of your experience.
New beginning in Japan
Tomasz Stanowski, known to everyone as Touma, is a young man from Poland who, after the tragic loss of his parents, decides to leave his past behind and start afresh. Driven by his childhood dream of becoming a drifter, he sets off for Japan - the birthplace of drifting on its winding mountain roads. He is greeted by Hideo, an online friend and tuning shop employee, who helps him navigate the local car scene.
During his first days in Japan, the ever-optimistic Touma meets Keiko - an equally energetic girl who runs a local sushi bar with her father. It's there that Touma takes a job as a sushi delivery driver, roaming around the city in search of orders - and any opportunity to hone his driving skills. Every take-out, every turn of the wheel brings him one step closer to mastering the art of drifting and fulfilling his long-held dreams.
Fighting for dreams
It soon becomes clear that the road to the top won't be easy. Touma comes face to face with Hatori “Scorpion” Hasashi - a character some of you may know from the demo prologue JDM: Rise of the Scorpion. This arrogant but exceptionally talented rival doesn't see Tomasz as a worthy opponent and doesn't hesitate to throw obstacles in his way. Their disdain for each other grows into a tense rivalry that fuels Touma's determination to fight for his dreams.
Will Tomasz be able to leave his troubled past behind and find his place in the drifting world? Will his move to Japan be the fulfillment of his dreams or just another disappointment? Find out the answers as you navigate the touges, highways, and towns of JDM: Japanese Drift Master.
