Since the announcement of Rogue State Revolution you may have noticed a certain presence, always there, always watching. A inhuman creature who's gaze you can't quite hide from and yet are intrigued by their relevance to the game.
Oh it's not the giant chicken, it's this:
For those that may not know all the artiodactyl mammals (and who could blame you), what we have here is an Oryx.
They prefer near-desert conditions and can survive without water for long periods. A feeling we can all relate to when we've had a particularly heavy weekend with friends. Three of them are native to parts of Africa, and the fourth to the Arabian Peninsula.
Newborn calves are able to run with their herd immediately after birth, which is both impressive and showing off.
In the world of Rogue State, Basenji it tends to get overrun by a certain rude species of
Oryx. In this alternate world, a single oryx female can produce litters of hundreds of offspring.
Think of the Great Emu War only if the invading force had 4 legs and in-built bayonets.
An important difference between an Oryx and say a goat in the world of Rogue State is that the fundamentalists practicing the Old Ways sometimes hunt endangered mountain goats with hand grenades as part of an ancient traditional practice. As you do.
But seen as the Oryx is the one invading you'd think they'd divert some of their target practicing. Maybe if someone had a special mech that could help...
So now we hope that you know a little bit more about some of the non human characters in this game and aren't as concerned about them as before. Though when playing Rogue State Revolution, maybe it's best to keep a healthy dose of that apprehension tucked away...you never know.
