Sprite Creation and Iteration Process
The sprites typically begin as a "starter" from Bro A. With these, I use them as a sort of spring board to start animating the characters in our game. The process involves scaling the starter, tracing it with adjustments to pose, and then coloring it.
Here's some visuals for the process.
Here's one example, of the first draft for a character.

The end result is great, but sometimes they need another iteration, which leads to a Sprite Redo...

As you can see the pose was even adjusted to make movement animations easier (hands out of pockets). His size was increased and face improved.
Here's another one with a different char. This character's sprite was too bulky, so a redesign was done.

The redesign is a massive improvement, but now he was too short compared to his friend above. So now a redo...

Much better. I now used the 1st draft as the starter, scaled him up, traced, then colored.
One more quick example of the Starter, 1st draft and Redo phase - this time with a creature besides humans.

That'll do it for this update. Thank you for taking the time to check out the process of sprite creation for our game!
Also, we've decided that the majority of updates will be what we accomplished during the week, rather then these random updates. This should make for more interesting updates and also act as a timeline of our development.
I'm not sure how long we'll keep doing this, but here's another GIF of Xiaxen doing something!
