3.20 is around the corner, and among other changes we’ve improved how RISK handles when players disappear midgame - either by surrendering or just closing the app and botting out.
These are changes that affect bot out & surrender logic and behaviour only. We will be following this up in 3.21 with changes that affect how rewards are handled for bot out players in the coming months.
What’s Changing
Clearer Player Status: New UI flags show whether a player is active, missing, being controlled by AI or gone for good.

Better Handling of Bot Outs: AI takeover timers now scale with turn duration, and permanent bot outs are calculated much more consistently - two full turns missed in a row and you're out for good.
No permanent Bot Out in Casual Private games: Friends playing in private matches can always rejoin unless they surrender.
Smoother Exits: If a player is botted out while disconnected, reconnecting will gracefully take them to post-game flow.

Remember: your Inactivity Behaviour settings dictate what kind of bot out results you will see in game
Automated: If a player goes inactive, AI will step in and play as an active bot.
Neutral: AI will only make minimal moves (reinforce or skip) while waiting for a permanent bot out - after which they will skip their turn entirely.
What We Fixed
Bugs relating to surrendering and the neutral bot out timers from v3.18
Inconsistent behaviour between PC and Mobile.
Confusing inactivity warnings and UI flags that didn’t match what was happening in-game.
