The Floppy Knights Demo Returns
It’s almost time to set sail: Indie World Order Convention (IWOCon) kicks off on Friday, and the Floppy Knights demo is coming back for the week of the event (March 26 - April 2nd).
You’ll be able to check out a variety of indie game islands in this unconventional convention that plays like a video game! You can jump into the festivities by visiting their Steam page.
We’ll also be hosting a dev livestream on Twitch touring IWOCOn’s virtual landscape as well as potentially jumping into some Floppy Knights content. Tune in on Wednesday, March 31st at 3 PM PDT to hang out and see!
March Dev Updates
A lot of our Steam Festival Feedback centered around improving communication throughout the game, and we’re rounding out some updates to do just that!
First up? Special cards actions are getting a spruce up with some new VFX -- this should help players understand special card actions more clearly, and it just plain looks really cool!
Tooltips were another area where we got specific feedback, and we worked up a solution so players know exactly what to expect when playing cards. Specifically, we’ve added info about what cards are generated each time you play a unit (or card that generates other cards).
In addition to polishing up the current content, we’re also creating a fresh batch of new cards! Here’s a peek at our fancy, internal Floppy Knights wiki spreadsheet, where we concept everything first. and a glimpse at a new SECRET deck we’re about to start testing! 👀💾
While it may seem like Carlton is the star of this deck, he’s actually just holding down the fort while Marlowe’s creates a full set of new card illustrations for the game - like this lil guy here, from our latest dev stream:
Finally, another specific point of feedback was the way that the game still wasn’t always hitting that “snappy” feel we are aiming for. We made some small adjustments which made a big impact: by increasing the movement and attack speed just a hair. It’s already made a difference in how the game feels. This GIF should give you an idea, but wait until you get your hands on it!
