Over the years, many of you have asked me for a mobile version of Playne, and I'm totally on board! but the challenges of developing a mobile version are very real. 1) funding its development, and 2) navigating the crowded mobile market, which as a solo developer, is very intimidating.
But it might be possible to create Playne for Mobile with your help.
Would you back a crowdfunding campaign for Playne Mobile? With a Kickstarter campaign, by pre-purchasing Playne for Mobile, you could help fund the project and make Playne for Mobile a reality!
Playne for Mobile Features
More people built a 30-day habit of meditation sitting in front of their computer playing Playne than some of the most popular meditation and mindfulness apps on mobile. Playne for mobile will build on this success and continue to make it easier for you to build a consistent daily habit of meditation using the power of video games :)
How is the mobile version different from Playne? For starters, it'll have all the improvements from the lessons I've learned developing Playne, and Inward.

To celebrate the 300 players who completed Playne recently by unlocking evolve mode, I'll be planting 300 trees in Wilthire, UK through OneTreePlanted.
Since launch, we have completed nearly half a million days of meditation and we've planted nearly 2,000 trees. That's a small forest that reflects our growth, spread all across the globe. :D :D :D
The last three years have been a massive learning curve for me personally, but reading the reviews of the positive impact Playne is having on your lives makes it all worthwhile.
Inward - My next game
Inward is the spiritual successor to Playne where you get to discover thousands of species of trees and create your own unique worlds. Inward is aimed at mobile but will have an initial release on Steam.

VR Fixes and Improvements

Full graphics overhaul and engine tweaks. Game should be crisper, performance should be better.
New tutorial system gives you better onboarding onto Playne VR
New dialogue interaction system for Fox. You will no longer need to walk around the fox to get the best angle so you can read the dialogue window (🤦🏽‍♂️ what was I thinking? part I)
Game controls rethink and redesign. Gone are the complicated grip system for the weather and time power (🤦🏽‍♂️what was I thinking? part II)
Planting controls rethink and redesign. You no longer need to actually touch the ground to plant the seeds (🤦🏽‍♂️what was I thinking? part III)
Sandbox seed view needs less hand turn
New weather and time UI
Cosmos and G2 controller added, although still not officially supported until a few of you can confirm that they work 🤷🏽‍♂️
New, dare I say more beautiful, main menu [*[ Better, clearer settings ui
Better laser that doesn't shoot beyond the menu + full laser pointer system
Grip should no longer interfere with interactions on Index
Gameplay Changes

Sandbox and Story mode will no longer grow together. You now need to choose which biome/game mode you want to grow by meditating there. However you will still earn seeds for sandbox mode when you meditate in story mode.
The original tree in Playne now grows in 60 days, about twice as fast as before. I've reduced this since you can now grow multiple biomes.

Translations
Translations are a bit sketchy at the moment on Playne, and this is my fault since I've had to either redraft or redo some of the text on each patch. I'm doing localisation with our translators next so hopefully we can get some of this cleaned up. Until this happens, I'm removing the official 'interface localised' classification on Steam.

You can now hide the streak metric on the HUD if it's getting in the way.
When you come back to Playne, your return is celebrated. Thanks Fabio.
Fox's dialogue has been update to reflect the above
Fox will now correctly talk to you after you break your streak

You will no longer spawn in void when playing sandbox mode
You can now run in evolve and sandbox modes. You won't be sprinting folks, so don't get your hopes up. It's more of a very slow jog :)
