AEW just got CM Punk back in the ring, convinced two massive stars in Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole to jump ship from WWE, and put on one of the best wrestling pay-per-views in years. What's next? Well, a lot, but one of the company's big initiatives is in videogames, and we just got a fresh look at the game featuring some of AEW's younger stars in action.
As with our first look at the 'AEW console game' (here's hoping it comes to PC once it drops that working title), it's still pretty early in development, with some awkward transitions between animations and unconvincing facial expressions. But the footage also suggests a much faster-paced, more fluid combat system than we've seen in modern WWE games.
We see reversals, corner moves, taunts, and submissions - everything you might hope for from a wrestling game. The camera appears to be locked on the opposite side from the entrance ramp, which gives the action at least a superficial similarity to the beloved AKI engine WWF and WCW games on Nintendo 64.

Today, after years of speculation, AEW officially unveiled its videogames. The wrestling promotion has multiple titles in the works, including a mobile booking sim called AEW: Elite General Manager, and a traditional wrestling game that doesn't yet have a title. All Elite Wrestling provided the first details on the games as part of a stream to launch the AEW Games brand.
That main, traditional wrestling game is, of course, the most exciting. It's got a lightly stylized aesthetic, and features wrestlers including Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, and Hikaru Shida - and the footage includes intergender competition, as well. It's coming to "current and next-gen consoles". (Fingers crossed that the door's open for PC, as well.)
It's in development at Yuke's, the Japanese studio which previously co-developed the WWE 2K series and which, in different times, made titles like Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain. The team also includes No Mercy director Hideyuki Iwashita. VGC reported in 2019 that Yuke's staff had become frustrated with the limitations of developing the 2K series, and was planning to launch a new wrestling game.

AEW has at least two videogames in the works. Ahead of an official reveal this coming week, All Elite Wrestling's CEO spoke about the two AEW-branded games fans will be playing soon.
At a press conference following Full Gear, AEW's latest pay-per-view, CEO Tony Khan commented on the two games AEW has in development. Transcribed by to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, one will be a standard console game that Khan wants to be "best in class", and the other a booking sim on mobile. The former echoes Kenny Omega's comments in September, when he told GameSpot he believed AEW's upcoming game is "probably the best wrestling product as a video game that you could probably find on the market".
The latter will let players manage AEW as a GM, and already has a title, according to trademark filings: AEW: General Manager. Short, sweet, and to-the-point. AEW Games is holding a reveal event on Tuesday November 10 across all its major social media channels. As of now, smart money's on 'AEW Games 1.0 Special Event' having footage of both of these projects, and a release date for at least one.

All Elite Wrestling has been providing an alternative to WWE on television since 2019, and they've been teasing a videogame project for pretty much just as long. Now, the company has officially unveiled its AEW Games branding, and is teasing a major announcement that's just over a week away.
The 'AEW Games 1.0 Special Event' will be broadcast live on Tuesday, November 10 at 15:00 PST / 18:00 EST / 23:00 GMT across YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. That's the extent of the official information AEW has provided, and this announcement could be anything from a proper new wrestling game to a place for AEW talent to stream games under the company's banner. (Though if it were the latter, the lack of a Twitch link in this messaging is suspicious.)
AEW has been pretty explicit that it's making a videogame, even before Dynamite hit television. Kenny Omega has been in contact with Syn Sophia, the studio formerly known as AKI - yes, of the N64 wrestling classics - and more recently told Gamespot he's "really excited to show the first little bit of footage that we have."
