Dear fellow Villains,
Again we want to thank you for continues support. It really is amazing to see that so many of you enjoy the game so much on a daily basis!
We do our best to improve the game every day. We have a new update for you that addresses the following issues:
- Save/Load bugs: 93% fixed. - Lab XP gain doesn't work when monster wears glasses. - Rotating walls work on non attracted victims. - Monsters with increased health from lab return to default health after sleeping in special bed. - Turret just shoots sometimes at nothing. - Achievements "all research done" and "100 days "not always trigger. - Turret not always reloading. - Some Heroes Attack victims. - Dogs have wrong sound when die. - Sarcophagus increases the max hp but shows a -1hp icon. - Fire Hydrant can be placed on the road. - Saving a file and name it with something with " K " it will activate fight stance. - Fire can't be extinguished after a tv as been burned.
Besides this, we have some exciting news for you! For the next big patch, that will be released end of july, we have planned a major content update that is all about electricity.
We will post more details about that next week.
We said this before, but if you find a bug, we would appreciate it if you could click on "Send Feedback" (bottom right) and add a short description. It will send us useful game data and it will help us fix them, thank you!

Hello fellow Villains,
Thank you for your support! It's amazing to see the mansions you come up with!
Here is a new patch including:
Save/Load bugs: 90% fixed Monster not using the table All monsters idle when 1 room is fully enclosed 1 head appearing in 3 fridge items slot, blocking monster for working Victims escaping without entering a room that has no other door Victim not entering when fancy door is replaced by regular door After loading victims group don't follow the leader and are stuck Victims stuck in the doorframe between room (when low frame rate) Victims becoming transparent when scared + starving after load Victims using hidden door when first room only has hidden door and entry door Removing lamp after a load = victims act as if light still here (not scared)
We also started balancing the advanced furnitures that require metal (metal, plates, cogs) following your feedbacks.
We are working on the next bug fixes update for the 22nd. There might be another one after if needed. But after that we will be able to focus on adding content and features (while still fixing eventual minor bugs). We'll start discussing it with you on the Steam forum after the next patch.
As usual, if you find a bug, we would appreciate it if you could click on "Send Feedback" (bottom right) and add a short description. It will send us useful game data and it will help us fix them, thank you!
Thank you for your patience and support, Alex & Zimra

One of the first things I did when I played The Sims was try to make the Addams family. Unfortunately, while my Gomez and Morticia fell rapturously in love and Wednesday and Pugsley happily played together all day, I didn't make anybody to keep Uncle Fester company. He eventually died of loneliness. At least he left a thematically appropriate gravestone in the front yard.
In MachiaVillain you're supposed to be making a spooky mansion full of kooks. You've got zombies, psychopaths, psychic killer tires, and other horror movie types living under your roof. By day they craft new rooms and traps, by night they wait for the locals to visit and murder them one by one. Then they collect the bodies, drag them to the kitchen, and one of the cartoon villains dons a chef's hat and starts carving them up for food.
It's a cheerfully grotesque game, with visuals that remind me of Don't Starve—though the interface is much messier. Like Don't Starve it's partially a crafting game, more than I expected it would be. One of the first things you need to do is chop down nearby trees to build the mansion's floors, walls, and doors. There's mining as well, and 'evil trees' that fight back but provide special, eeevil wood when defeated.
Separating people to kill them alone is good, saving the virgin for last is better, and killing the dog is right out.
There's a rhythm to MachiaVillain, where you assign jobs and manage stats like hunger and loyalty when the sun is up, building new rooms and making sure the regular leaflet campaign is finished before the post gets collected. (To keep victims coming you have lure them with mailouts claiming they've won fabulous prizes or perhaps advertising for room-mates or D&D players). Come dark, you get everyone into position and the murders begin.
It's best to have a mansion that's divided into entirely separate wings, one containing areas like the laboratory and factory where minions work, and the other front-facing rooms with friendly lamps and televisions to lure the innocent. As well as providing tasty brains to keep the zombies happy, killing victims provides an essential resource called Evilium, and you earn more of it for playing to the cliches of horror movies. Separating people to kill them alone is good, saving the virgin for last is better, and killing the dog is right out.
Scaring people too much can be a bad thing, as they'll call friends to warn them or try to escape, running past all your buzz saws and Draculas. That raises the suspicion score, and when it gets too high it brings the attention of monster hunters and cops, who are apparently much harder to kill. I've not had that problem yet, though I've faced plenty of random attacks by giant spiders, and I suspect there are other things lurking in the woods.
Sometimes victims don't actually make it to the front door. A pop-up telling me they're on the way appears and I get everyone to down tools and take up positions, but occasionally the victims start dying on the road before they even get to my creepy puzzle dungeon. I have to rush everyone out to mop up the survivors before they call for help. By the time I get there whatever's attacking them is gone, and only the blood remains. Is it the spiders? Evil trees? The angry ghost of Uncle Fester back for revenge? Or is something else sharing this map with us?
MachiaVillain has had a couple of patches since it launched two weeks ago to fix the most egregious bugs, so I'm hoping this isn't one of those. Because finding out there's something else out there even scarier than us would be a great twist. I wonder if they want to move in? We've got television and a tasty stockpile of smoked brains.
Thank you for the reports and the support. Seeing your creativity, thoughtful responses and feedback is very helpful as everyone works hard on updates. We also appreciate the patience as your comments are addressed and patches are tested and released. It's amazing to be a part of
Thank you for the reports and the support. Seeing your creativity, thoughtful responses and feedback is very helpful as everyone works hard on updates. We also appreciate the patience as your comments are addressed and patches are tested and released. It's amazing to be a part of such a wonderful community!
We have a new patch today:
- Save/load (60% fixed) - Vampire burning indoor - 0HP forest creatures - 0HP victims - 0HP heroes - Virus event limited - Sitting on inactivated table bug - Chemistry bench display bug - Victims not scared of spikes - Workbench subpriority save - Vampire hypnosis not working - Invisible superior bed - Crypt problem with advanced clown (clown still has no power, to be fixed)
(Some of this bugs might seem trivial, but they actually caused save and/or load issues)
We haven't forgotten Mac specific issues, we are still looking for a coder who can help with them.
On a personal note, Alex still can't see, we'll know more about it today. He thanks you for all your kind wishes, it's helping in this difficult time.
Thank you again for your support and your understanding!

A big ‘thanks’ to all of you who helped us making an incredible launch of Machiavillain possible. We really are happy many of you enjoy the game so much!
Besides the many positive messages we also received reports that our minions still need to fix some bugs. Thank you, that is very helpful.
Joking aside, truth is some bugs would have already been patched, but Murphy's law struck.
Some of you might already know, we are a team of 2, one dev/coder (Alexandre) and one artist (Zimra). After weeks of extremely hard work leading up to release, the day of the launch, Alexandre's eyes became extremely painful, and we had to go to the emergency room. He had to have a light surgery and he has trouble seeing for now. He is going to get better, but sadly in the meanwhile he can't code.
But the good news is that we are bringing aboard help in form of a coder.
Here are the bugs/issues we have started fixing with the current first emergency patch:
- Save bugs (30% fixed) - Load bugs (30%fixed) - Trees growing on floor (fixed) - Minions stopping working when some rooms are completely closed
- Adding/improving hotkeys
- Proofreading the english version (done)
- Virgin detector (done) - Rotating walls (done)
We'll release patches as soon as possible.
If you have any suggestions, you can send us a bug report with game data just by clicking on the "Send feedback" button (bottom right) with a short description in the title (so we can pinpoint the problem), it will help solving the issue, thank you!
We are sorry for the delay and share your frustration. Thank you for your patience and understanding and your amazing support!

Hey there again fellow Evil Realtors,
We're incredibly proud to announce that MachiaVillain is now officially available! It's been quite the long adventure getting to this point, so words cannot describe how amazing it has been to see the game show-up on Steam and to have all of you playing it.
So from everyone on the team, we just wanted to say a sincere THANK YOU to everyone who has supported the game since its KS campaign, and everyone who has put their faith in us by picking it up on launch day!
We're all completely dedicated to ensuring that the game will have a long and eventful life, so everyone involved considers today as Day 1 of a longer journey. Our goal is to continue to improve- and add to the experience that the game has to offer. To this end, we greatly value all of your feedback and we're going to be closely monitoring the forums to take note of everything that we can improve on. So please feel free to share any thoughts or ideas that you might have to make the game better.
Thanks a lot for joining us on this Spooktacular adventure everyone, and here's to building a legendary monster mansion together!

MachiaVillain is primarily a game about remembering to sweep severed heads off your porch. Too much visible viscera will scare off the next crop of guileless victims to your hand-crafted house of horrors, y’see. Shamelessly in the tradition of Dungeon Keeper (still my go-to PC gaming nostalgia, along with X-COM), MachiaVillain is a management sim in which the baddies are the goodies. You shepherd a small herd of flesh-eating monsters around, building both an ever-growing lair for themselves and a faux-home to lure in unsuspecting humies with which to feed your festering menagerie.
It runs much further with its inverted horror movie concept than does the usual “ooh, what if you were the bad guy, eh?” tomfoolery, though witless humour and a needlessly fiddly user interface get in the way of the gruesome good times. (more…)

Hey there again fellow devious masterminds,
We just wanted to let everyone know that MachiaVillain will be officially available in just two hours! So please keep an eye out for it at 10AM PDT/7PM CEST.
It's been a very long spooky journey to get to this point, so we can't wait to finally share the game with all of you.
In the meantime, we already wanted to share the new launch trailer with all you. So please feast your haunting eyes on our latest evil video creation!

Developer Wild Factor has announced that its intriguing haunted house management and strategy game MachiaVillain will launch on PC on May 16th.
MachiaVillain casts you as the proprietor of a spooky old house in Villain City - "a luxury community entrenched in the hills of horror". It's your job to expand your empty plot into a truly terrible abode, growing it from a minor neighbourhood nuisance to a mansion of all-consuming evil - by setting traps, luring in unsuspecting locals, then letting your minions gnaw on their remains.
MachiaVillain's blend of management and strategy, based on its launch trailer at least, looks to play out something like Prison Architect meets Dungeon Keeper meets Evil Genius, topped off with a huge helping of ghoulish silliness. Right up my alley then.
Last month we gave away some beta keys for monster mansion sim Machiavillain, which Joe described as The Sims meets Dungeon Keeper meets Rimworld when developer Wild Factor announced it last year. Today, Wild Factor revealed its release date: MachiaVillain is coming to Steam on W
Last month we gave away some beta keys for monster mansion sim Machiavillain, which Joe described as The Sims meets Dungeon Keeper meets Rimworld when developer Wild Factor announced it last year. Today, Wild Factor revealed its release date: MachiaVillain is coming to Steam on Wednesday, May 16 for $20.
The goal of MachiaVillain is pretty simple. As an up-and-coming member of the League of Machiavellian Villains, you build a big ol' mansion on a fabulous estate and lure tourists inside so you can kill them and harvest their organs. The kicker is that your workers are all monsters inspired by legends and horror classics—vampires, mummies, zombies, wendigos, the works.
Your time is split between ordering your monsters around, making good use of your guests, fending off other monsters and the occasional monster hunter, and expanding your estate, all while keeping a low enough profile that the townsfolk don't call you out on your murdering. To that end, you've got a few rules to follow:
1) You must kill all of your unwitting detainees.
2) You can only kill them when they're alone—unless they're having sex.
3) You must kill the virgin last.
4) You can only massacre at night.
5) Do not kill the dog. Ever.
I can get behind any game that's against killing dogs, and I quite liked Wild Factor's previous game, Freaking Meatbags, a quirky tower defense RTS thing, so Machiavillain seems like one to watch.
