Hi anglers!
A short update from us, because it's been a while and you deserve to know where things stand.
Work on the Remaster is very much ongoing. We're on it every day. But we'll be honest with you: everything is taking longer than we expected. Not because anything went wrong, but because the deeper we get into the project, the more we find that needs to be done properly rather than quickly.
The VR rebuild in particular has turned out to be a massive undertaking. Rebuilding every mechanic to work the way it should in VR is far more complex than simply porting what already exists, and we'd rather spend the extra time getting it right than ship something that feels half-finished on your headset.
Alongside that, we're working on multiplayer, the new UI, and bringing back the trophy room and the level editor. There's a lot happening in parallel, and each piece has to fit together before any of it is worth showing.
We know waiting isn't fun, especially for a community that's stuck with this game for almost ten years. Thank you for that patience. It genuinely means a lot, and we're not taking it for granted.
We'll share more when there's something real to show. Tight lines!
And in case you missed it, we've also been working on a brand new location with new fish species: the Italy DLC. You can already find it on Steam, but we want to be upfront with you: it won't be arriving any time soon.
It will launch together with the Remaster, because releasing a new map onto the old foundations wouldn't do it justice. Some things simply have to come first.

Hello Everyone,
It's finally time to update the beta, which includes all maps, including fully reworked DLC maps. I won’t go into detail here, as everything is covered in the changelog below.
Stage 2 is not available in Playtest. It is available only to all current game owners and includes the remastered DLC versions.
Stage 2 is now primarily focused on performance testing and optimization across the new and updated maps. We’re carefully analyzing stability, framerate, and overall gameplay performance.
We appreciate your help in reporting any bugs you encounter and filling out the feedback surveys. Your input is valuable in helping us polish the experience.
Level Cap was removed (it was limited to 5 in Stage 1)
Trophy Lodge DISABLED
Multiplayer: DISABLED
Save System: Progress between the BETA and standard game is separate - each version uses its own save files, so your progress will not transfer between them. The only exception here is that you can load Cloud Saves in BETA, but progress made there will not override anything in the default game.
STAGE 3 - What’s Left
We’re currently working on:
A brand-new Trophy Lodge
The Aquarium DLC (this one is a serious upgrade)
New boats
Implementation of new fishing equipment and models (99% of the models are already finished!)
Introducing new fish species across all maps
After that, we’ll focus on:
UI/UX improvements
Brake system adjustments and fixes
New graphics settings to ensure full compatibility with the Remaster changes
Finally, we’ll tackle the two most challenging tasks:
Restoring full VR functionality
Rebuilding the Level Editor
The Level Editor is currently non-functional and requires a complete rebuild. It is a complex system, especially since less than 0.5% of UFS players used it, but we know it matters to some of you and want to handle it properly. Your voice matters here. If you tell us it is not needed, we will focus on other aspects. It is up to you, so you can vote in the survey about this.
And besides all of that…
A brand-new DLC set in Italy will be revealed soon! Venture to a stunning Italian lake, dive into mysterious sunken ruins, and reel in rare catches like the Southern Pike and Italian Barbel in this unforgettable DLC adventure.
Updated Weather System (new dynamic transitions & improved effects handling)
Updated Water System (improved surface behavior, lighting & consistency across maps)
Added new boats to selected maps (full rollout to all locations coming soon)
Ongoing environment optimization across remastered levels
Full Map Remaster
Almost every location has been rebuilt from the ground up. Each map received updated terrain work, refreshed assets, new environmental audio, and improved weather effects - including dynamic phenomena such as the Aurora Borealis on selected northern maps.

Ultimate Fishing Simulator began as a small prototype and a big dream in late 2015. We launched in Early Access on Steam in 2017 and released the full version in 2018. Since then, we have consistently expanded the game with new mechanics, maps, features, and DLCs, improving it year after year.
At the start of 2024, we set out on our boldest adventure yet: creating a completely free Remastered version. For our small team, it has been a mountain to climb. Every day, we chase a single vision - to deliver a richer visual and gameplay experience while preserving the heart of the original. I’ve lost track of how many times we’ve switched Unity versions, rebuilt maps, or wrestled with lighting, skies, and water. Updating a project this old is like playing whack-a-mole: fix one thing, and ten more pop up. The technical debt was daunting, but we’ve conquered it, and now the Remaster is finally nearing the finish line.
Thank you for sticking with us over the years and for being patient as we worked on changes behind the scenes. These efforts are finally coming together in Ultimate Fishing Simulator®. We know it’s a big ask, but it would mean so much if you could vote for Ultimate Fishing Simulator in the Labor of Love category this year.
Going back to the Remaster backstory...this project has changed a lot over time. Every meeting brings new ideas. There’s always someone, often me, who still wants to make things better. We keep brainstorming ways to make fishing feel more natural, and we have plenty of wild ideas for future maps or even jokes about prehistoric fishing DLC. That drive to keep improving is what keeps the game going.
Performance and FPS are always on our minds. There are some limits we just can’t get past, and I think we may have promised before that the Remaster would match or even beat the original’s performance on low settings while looking better. I’m not sure if we’ll fully reach that, but I can promise that optimization is a top priority and we’re giving it our all. Unity can be a heavy engine, but that’s not an excuse. We’re still working hard to improve every frame.
I want to remind you that the Remaster will be a free update for everyone who owns the game. The original, classic version will still be available on a separate branch, and we’re even looking into offering it as a standalone free product. That way, you can always return to the familiar feel of the original if you wish.
To wrap things up, we’ve just completed another major overhaul of the skies and weather in the Remaster. Check out the latest screenshots below. Next on our list: winter maps and icy, crisp weather to challenge your fishing skills on frozen lakes.
Thank you for every hour spent in Ultimate Fishing Simulator!

Hello Everyone,
Stage 1 is a huge milestone — the entire map has been rebuilt from scratch. With it comes a brand-new sky system, a new water system, an updated weather system, and fully refreshed fish and gear models. Our goal has been simple: to make the game look and feel better than ever, while maintaining the same smooth performance and frame rate as before.
The Challenges Along the Way
The road to this point wasn’t easy. Along the way, we encountered many surprises - entire features and add-ons stopped working after migrating to the new Unity engine. We had to rebuild and rework them from the ground up to ensure the game remains stable and future-proof. This process took time and effort, but it sets the foundation for all the upcoming stages of the Beta.
STAGE 1 Limitations
Please note that in this stage, Multiplayer and the Trophy Lodge are not yet available, and the player level is currently capped at Level 5. Progress between the BETA and standard game is separate - each version uses its own save files, so your progress will not transfer between them. The only exception here is that you can load Cloud Saves in BETA, but progress made there will not override anything in the default game.
Why Your Feedback Matters
Behind the scenes, more has changed than you might notice at first glance. The backend systems of the game have been overhauled to such a degree that your feedback is now the single most important factor. We need to know if everything runs correctly, if nothing breaks, and how you feel about the new changes: the fish models, the weather, the water, and the underwater experience. But the most important information is performance and visuals!
New Underwater Experience
Speaking of underwater, we’ve added new camera controls. By holding Left CTRL, you can now freely rotate the underwater camera, and with the scroll wheel, you can zoom it in or out. Give it a try and let us know how it feels.
The Road Ahead
Stage 1 is only the beginning. We’re committed to improving every part of the game step by step, with your help and feedback guiding us along the way. Thank you for being part of this journey!
Kind Regards,
Ultimate Fishing Team

Hi! It's been a while since the last Status Update and I will say the remastered version is a long and bumpy road. It took tons of time, research, whiteboards, brainstorms, and most of all trying not to affect any game mechanics that have been in the game since 2017.
I have to admit (and I believe other members of our small team will agree) that our heads are full of ideas about what we can do, and how we can do it but then here it comes: Engine Update ːsteamthisː.
"Aye, why multiplayer is not working?", "The sky disappeared"," Why rods are not bending anymore?" and so on. Huge engine in the backend that is affecting everything that was done in the original version.
So what is the current status, based on our previous post (You can read more about it >HERE< ):
Phase 1 - almost done. We have issues with the skybox, that is affecting not only the sky but also the weather and lightning. We don't like how it looks right now.
Phase 2 - VR works properly in the new version, which was our plan for Remaster (so it's done). I don't hide that in the future we would like to also focus more on the mechanics and "VR" feeling.
Phase 3, Phase 4 - in progress. This is the most time-consuming phase. In the beginning, we planned to refresh most of the maps in the current state but it was sometimes just not possible and some of the maps were redone from scratches.
Phase 5 - 95% of fish models are done. We are missing around 15-20 models to be redone.
Phase 6 - in progress. Not much to say about it. We aim to finish all equipment remasters by the end of March. We will see how it will go.
Phase 7 - we didn't start working on it yet.
MAPS
The biggest change for all maps - both old, DLC, and future ones, was a huge change in our pipeline. In the past, we just did the maps based on photos, and videos without proper touch to topography. Right now for all our maps, we are using real-life topography data and sometimes bathymetry for bottom/underwater views. Curious how the difference, let's jump on the new Powell Lake which is around 10x bigger than the old map. The big and important change will be also that maps like Greenland or Pinas Bay will be no longer two maps, they will include big coasts that you will be able to explore.
I removed water in the middle so you can check how the underwater is formed!
But you already saw some Powell Lake comparison last time so maybe it's time to show something else.
And maybe some other vibes from Kariba Dam:
FISHING GEAR
What can I say? Everything is outdated, old models, some looking bad. Below is a comparison of well-known Dakino DV!
FISH MODELS
Here without comparison let me present you the new model of Tiger Trout and Siberian Sturgeon:
TESTING
We are aiming to do a regular soft launch in PlayTest. How it will look exactly? We will release PlayTests in stages. Each stage will include a reworked map, ex.:
Stage 1 - Betty Lake Remastered
Stage 2 - Powell Lake Remastered
...
Stage X - Greenland Remastered
Thanks to your feedback during this we will be able to know your thoughts before dropping everything on public release.
Just a reminder - Remastered Update will be FREE.

Hello Everyone, it is time to drop some light on how the works over the “rework” are going! What did we achieve, what we would like to achieve and what things we are struggling with 🙂
So what does the “remaster” mean at all? What is it? What you can expect?
To be honest, it is a really complex matter that we divided into a few sectors but first things first. By the remaster, we mean that the whole game, especially the background code, scripts, and assets will get an overhaul while keeping the core gameplay mechanic in its current form (maybe besides cringe reel drag that is not working properly).
As we are still a small team (currently 4 people), we divided the whole process into phases, which I can publicly reveal to you.
Phase 1 - converting the project to the newest Unity HDRP LTS. Implementation of the new water system. New skybox.
Phase 2 - redoing VR so it works properly on the new Unity version (this one will need a LOT of testing)
Phase 3 - reworking all base game maps
Phase 4 - reworking all DLC maps
Phase 5 - replace all fish models from old to new ones
Phase 6 - adjustments in gameplay mechanics, improvements in UI/UX, re-doing lures & baits logic (to be more user friendly), improvements in SFX.
Phase 7 - re-working game networking and adding full multiplayer support so you can see other players.
… and more but I don’t want to reveal it right now as some things/features are not 100% confirmed, so I don’t want to promise anything.
As you can see it is a LOT of work but so far I have to admit we are doing pretty well.
We already finished Phase 1 but during our internal testing, we have some mixed feelings about new water & underwater visuals so this one can still change to another solution.
Phase 2 was already done, and tested on our internal VR headsets but it is a really important part of the game. We haven’t improved the input and visuals yet but right now it is fully functional and playable on Unity HDRP. That is why we will release the VR remaster (and other features) in an open playtest. You can sign for them already here:
Phase 3 is giving us a lot of struggles, and there are a few reasons for that. We want to keep the original shape of the maps where we can, improve visuals as much as we can, and most of everything - keep performance at a level, where everyone will be able to play as the old version.
For maps, we had planned to “refresh” most of them but it seems we will finish by re-doing 80% of them from scratches in Phase 3 :) One of the maps where we just did visual improvements, small terrain changes, etc. is Betty Lake.
Don’t think that we only did Betty Lake! We already finished over half of the maps from Phase 3 and we will regularly show you videos from Before/After and we will be more than happy to read your feedback.
The biggest change in all maps is that right now we are using real-life heightmaps for terrain and lakes/rivers/ocean bottoms (if this data is available).
Remember Powell Lake? It was a small map, now it is triple like that! It finally feels like Utah!
I can’t wait to show you St. Zenos Lake which should be a carp fishing paradise from the start, with proper booths and places for fishing! :>
And Pinas Bay? Oh dear, this one is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge.
So when we will post an update?
Once we finish Phase 3 - we should release the first update publicly after playtests (remember you can take part in them for free).
Phase 4 - will be released in regular updates, map by map.
Phase 5 - In terms of fish replacement - this is a huge task. We have over 100 fish in the game, and replacing all of them with proper animations and textures required us lot of work to not mess anything up (remember Taupo Lake's new fish glitches? We don’t want to repeat that).
Phase 6 - will be most likely pushed in steps with earlier updates, so it can be that we will release part of Phase 6 with some Phase 4 DLC map remaster or between other updates. The priority is proper fishing behavior, spawn points, sound systems, UI/UX upgrades, reel drag, and more!
Multiplayer
Phase 7 - and this is the biggest and hardest task for us. As we posted in the roadmap we should release it somewhere in 2025. Many of you ask how it will be so here is some light for it.
Multiplayer will be implemented once for good which means:
Full 3D models
Visible other players catch, rods, fights, animations
Remember Florida DLC? It is the biggest map in the game that ever existed, we tried to do something better, something different with a really lot of reefs, iconic places, and depths with really big fish.
And we simply failed in many fields. We spent almost the whole of Christmas fixing the game, pushing patches, etc – believe me, we would prefer to eat pierogies with a “calm mind” :D
So lesson learned, and here is a short update about Florida: MAP IS TOO BIG, AND THERE IS NOT ENOUGH FISH (xd).
But for real here is our plan:
It will be updated to HDRP in Phase 3
We will add 3 more fish species:
Sandbar shark
Dusky shark
Silky shark
… and maybe one or two more.
We will add 10 more lures/baits, only available in Florida DLC that will be dedicated especially to fish in Florida (but will also work on other maps).
If you have any more suggestions for Florida - let us know. And yes, updates will be free and the price of DLC will remain the same.

Hello Everyone, as we were writing a few times - 2024 will be a year of changes for the Ultimate Fishing Simulator game. There will be many small changes and many BIG ones. And today it's time to reveal the big thing officially.
Ultimate Fishing Simulator will be remastered! The new version will be available as a FREE UPDATE for everyone!
You probably wonder - what does that mean? So here is the short answer! We will update the game for one of the newest Unity with HDRP support. All in-game maps will be REDONE from scratches, all in-game graphics will be updated, and here is the "general" list for remaster:
Game Rework | Basic (FREE)
Upgrade to the Unity HDRP 2022 LTS
New water system
New weather system
All base game maps redesign
New water physics
Full VR rework
UI improvements
Controller improvements
LWR 3.0 + randomizer for all fish in the game
Gameplay mechanics improvements
Game Rework | DLC (FREE)
All DLC maps redesign
And this is just the beginning. We are already working on the map re-design and we can share today with you the first pictures of Betty Lake:
And yes, VR rework - means we are doing IT from scratch. The whole VR will be redone to make this a true "fishing" experience in VR.
Do you think that is big news? So here is the true bomb.
FULL MULTIPLAYER SUPPORT will be added in 2025 as a FREE UPDATE.
Yes, that is right. There are many things in our schedule so it will be better to show you the ROADMAP for 2024-2025. Some things we can't reveal yet (TBA) but you can expect MORE MAPS, MORE FISH, and bigger challenges.
As some of you may noticed (or did not) since January 19th, 2024 - Ultimate Fishing Simulator VR & VR DLCs are NO LONGER available in the Steam store.
Everyone - who owned a UFS VR (app) or VR DLCs - received the same content in Ultimate Fishing Simulator (app) and all owned DLCs.
The VR app will be no longer updated (besides the last patch) and is officially EOL & EOS (end-of-life, end-of-support). The reason for that as we said in the previous announcement is in general to UNITE everyone, so finally NON-VR players can play with VR players - faster updates, easier support, and so on.
So here is a short sum-up of how it worked. IF YOU HAD THIS > YOU GET THIS:
Ultimate Fishing Simulator VR > Ultimate Fishing Simulator + VR DLC Ultimate Fishing Simulator VR: Moraine Lake DLC > Ultimate Fishing Simulator: Moraine Lake DLC Ultimate Fishing Simulator VR: Kariba Dam DLC > Ultimate Fishing Simulator: Kariba Dam DLC
...and so on! :)
But what with your saves and progress in Ultimate Fishing Simulator VR? It's lost?
NO, ITS NOT!
We just released an update to the game which detects if you played the Ultimate Fishing Simulator VR. If you did and you have saves you can MIGRATE them to the Ultimate Fishing Simulator game.
Important: Migrating will OVERRIDE your existing saves from the UFS NON-VR game, so choose wisely! If you don't want to decide now and do that later, you can do this by using our external windows (.bat) script file available > HERE <
Here you can check that the file is completely SAFE for use:
I think we didn't say that in the separate post and it is still not a dedicated post for this but... we are inviting everyone to join our ultimate fishing Discord server where you can do..... just the regular stuff you do on Discord + additionally Chat with us (XD).
https://discord.gg/5AnMchrWYZ
So that's all for today! We hope to read your feedback, thoughts, and suggestions!

Length-Weight Relationship 3.0 (LWR)
Hello everyone, as you can read above we just implemented a new LWR for Florida fish species that is as true to real life as possible. We received a lot of information regarding fish not having proper weight or length, or their look (scale) not being properly related to other weights.
So we took a little investigation into the system, tested a few different things, how the scale works, and created a few kaiju-sized monsters...
In the end, we discovered that some additional factors influenced the fish scale and weight. After a short discussion, we decided to make huge modifications to this system, and right now each fish in Florida has an individual correlation to length and weight. That means each fish from Florida right now has a different mass gain in kilograms [lb] per centimeter [ft]. Moving further, we all know that if in real life you catch 10 fish and hypothetically each of them is 60 cm in length, each one of them would have a different weight.
So, we also implemented this in LWR 3.0. That means every fish in specific weight can vary in weight in range from 0.9 to 1.05. To show that more in numbers, let's give you an example.
Blacksea Bass | Length 30 cm | Randomizer: Off
The LWR 3.0 will tell us that the weight for 30cm Blacksea Bass should be 0.52 kg.
And here comes the randomizer. Who likes to catch 30cm fish, with 0.52kg weight whole the time? Randomizer allows to generation of fish that are wary in weight.
Blacksea Bass | Length 30 cm | Randomizer: ON
Fish weight range: 0,468 - 0.546 kg
The bigger the fish, the wider "range" will be. But you get the point I hope!
Is this available for all fish? If NO. why? This is now only available for fish listed in the changelog. It's due to a lot of data that we need to prepare and count. For Florida, we simply created the LWR charts but the game didn't calculate it properly which caused so many issues with Tiger Shark. But - don't worry.
We will implement this system to all 136 fish species in the Ultimate Fishing Simulator.
Once again, we would like to thank you for your feedback, support, and time to tell us what is in your opinion not working properly. Sometimes fixes are easy and sometimes we need to dig deep and do proper research but in the end - we hope you are happy with the final results.
Ah, also - in terms of "scale". While researching it we found that there are a few other things in the game "out of scale" that we will fix one by one in the future. We will let you know what & when will be changed shortly! :)

Spawn points / locations
First of all, we would like to thank you all for your feedback and for reporting many issues that allowed us to fix them - it is always a pleasure to find & kill "bugs" when we know where to search them :)
But going to merit. We would like to tell you that BIG fish have a LOW chance of spawning close to the shore / starting location. If you would like to go on a "hunt" you need to take a boat :)
Here is the current spawn-point "legend":
Here you can see how many spawn zones are currently in Florida:
And for comparison here, you can see Betty Lake:
The reason why Florida feels so empty is simple - the map is huge. I mean, literally, it's the biggest map in the game - over 50x bigger than Betty Lake. So if we would put the same amount of fish on Florida that is on Betty Lake or any other map, even Pinas Bay Ocean - it would feel EMPTY. Here is a small comparison.
BUT WHY WON'T YOU DEVELOPERS JUST ADD MILLIONS OF FISH? It would just kill game performance at this stage. Ultimate Fishing Simulator is a pretty old game, done on Unity 2017 - and updating the game on this version is just a developer nightmare (hands up - who can confirm).
So with this in mind we need to find the BEST possible situation for you - Players. Waters need to feel populated, just full of life, and at the same time - run well on low-end PCs, etc. So it's a really hard task but we won't say "Yeah Guys, nothing happened".
We made a lot of mess with this one, but from good thing is - that we had a few "night runs" and we developed for example new spawn system for Florida, which can be used on other maps :)
So what's next?
We are here for you. We will continue reading your feedback, especially regarding Florida so this map can reveal its full potential (RIP tic-tac multiplayer -.-). So if you have any thoughts, tips, feedback, bug reports, or just want to drop your angry, mad message - just do it. We read all of it and try to improve the game.
So I think that's all :) Download the update and let us know if there is anything else not working, or maybe if some fish like Blackfin Tuna can't be caught ːsteamsadː

Changelog:
Added missing lures support (ex. Sakura lures);
Added more fish that can be attracted by Dragonfly, Fly, Maggot, Red Worm, Wax Worms, Leech on Florida;
Improved efficiency of live bait and cutbait for sharks;
Added more Blue Marlin spawns on the deep waters.
Issues we are aware of right now:
The big "catchable" area of Florida requires more fish spawn points without dropping the performance and making loading times longer. This one is a complex task but we have an idea for it right now.

Hook prompt should have few options, so everyone can pick what they can
Important note about Hook Prompt
Hook prompt information has 3 states:
Hook is too small
Hook is too big
Hook is proper
The "check" for hook/lure size is only in a radius of 50m. That means, the system is checking only fish 50m from the hook/lure:
But besides hook size/lure size, you need to remember that each lure and bait attracts different fish. So if no fish meets hook/lure requirements, you will get the "user" smaller/bigger hook prompt but besides the hook/lure size, there is also a BAIT/LURE type.
So if you are using for example a float with a big hook ex. #5/0 In the starting location, you will get a prompt about using smaller hooks as fish in that area, are not mostly not attracted by live bait or cutbait.
So you need to remember about picking proper bait for the area you are fishing. Big fish are spawned in 95% of areas accessible only by boat.
You can check the bait/lure-attracted fish list in each item section:
It is probably the last update today, as Christmas is starting and we would like to spend this 2-3 day with our families but you can always reach us on Discord and I will try to reply to you ASAP.

Changelog:
Add more fish spawn points in the starting locations & coastal locations
Fixed Atlantic tarpon
Hello everyone, many of you told us that there is not enough fish at the starting location. With this update, you should instantly see way more fish just around the deck but the more fish we add in the starting location - the longer the loading time will be for the map. So this update will increase map loading some around 5 seconds.
Ex. Spawnpoints
We will work on improving this system more, we will also work today - so pray for us, so our wives don't kill us that we nerd in front of the PC instead of helping clean the house for Christmas ːlunar2019laughingpigː
In terms of fish not being displayed close to the "surface". All fish in Ultimate Fishing Simulator have a type of "depth" where they are spawned, etc. So each fish that lives in the bottom will be hard to spot with Hunter Vision. Florida starting location has a BIG deep hole just under the deck (pic rel):
So here is how you should see fish now there:
Thank you for sticking around and we wish you all a Merry Christmas.
