We are so happy to announce that Taekwondo Grand Prix 2.0 is finally here for you to enjoy. There will be a week-long discount of 75% to celebrate the release. After that, there will be a slight price increase to keep the Steam price on par with the Stove version. We will run some Steam key giveaways via our Twitter account (https://twitter.com/hellotheregames) so keep an eye on that and help spread the word.
With this, we would like to welcome everybody back to the arena. For all you faithful players, you will get to play the game right now, new players will have to wait a couple of hours before the Purchase button is back on the store, please note that the tournaments will commence on the 18th, but you are free to sign up starting today. Also keep in mind to select a region closest to where you live for the best experience.
How can I report issues that I come across?
You can either report them here at the Steam Community or via our discord, https://discord.gg/cpCQaZJ
The game has a built-in replay feature that saves all matches in a format so that we can step through them frame by frame for debugging purposes. If you, during a match, find something that looks odd, maybe a kick that didn’t register a hit or a score that wasn’t awarded properly please send us the replay file to [email protected] , it will help us tremendously with finding the bug as we can recreate the match on our end.

We are finally at a point where we would like to test the game and get valuable feedback to act upon and we are so happy that you would like to help us out. Please consider that the game is in beta, there will of course be bugs both small and large but we hope to catch as many of them as possible during this test.
There are, at the moment of writing, 220 out of the limited 300 test seats taken so first come first served.
All features that we have planned for the initial release are more or less in. The main thing except fixing bugs that we have on our to-do is to finalize all the games UI, there’s a lot of it, and also to do a polish pass on everything.
There are recurring tournaments during the test and they will be live at times that suit their regions the best. Don’t forget to sign up to the tournaments in order to secure your place, this can be done 1 day in advance.

What to do in the game
Some of the tournaments will reward the winner with an epic body armor (named Prime). Other tournaments will be fame and glory only.
In order to unlock more customization items you will need to rank up. XP is given every time you play an online match, ranked or tournament doesn't matter. You will also accumulate XP by playing the single player campaign. Winning that campaign will unlock exclusive items.
You can invite Steam friends if you want to challenge them as long as they have the game installed and couch play will enable you to play local games against a friend.
How can I report issues that I come across?
You can either report them to the discussion thread associated with this playtest.

Known issues present in the Playtest
We hope that you will be enjoying the play test and that you want to share your thoughts and feedback with us.
The test will run for a while or until we feel that we have received enough feedback and bug reports to move forward onto the polishing phase.
We hope to see you in the arena!

With most of the features in place we now need to start testing things out and move onto the polishing phase of the production. We’ve gotten the Steam Playtest approved but we haven't set the test live yet. Hopefully this will happen sometime next week and if you are interested in helping out you can request access from the main store page and you will get notified when the test is available. Ideally we would like to have 50 to 100 people testing the game so please help us out and share the news. Testers don’t need to pre own the game as the Playtest is treated as a separate game by Steam.
Please bare in mind that the current state of the game is beta, most of the features are in place, things need polish and proper balancing.
We hope to see you in the ring.

Welcome back to another post about the development of the Taekwondo Grand Prix. This time around we will focus on a feature that has been at the top of requested features by both players and ourselves. The ability to customize the look of your fighter beyond the ready-made roster used in the previous version of the game.

At launch, there will be four archetypes of people to choose from, both female and male. You will be able to adjust skin tone, eye colour, hairstyle. The style of the protective gear can be customized by skins and the same goes for the Dobok. Skins will be unlocked by playing the game or winning tournaments.

Another customizable area for you to get creative with is the player portrait, which is the image that is shown before entering a match and at the result screen. Elements to showcase in the portrait will also be unlocked or given as prizes in tournaments.
Please keep in mind that the first release will contain a limited set of assets for you to use when customizing. The goal for us is to have all systems in place and then be able to expand upon based on feedback from the community. So when available, try it out and help us explore further creative options to make the player avatar more unique. Stay tuned for the next dev log.

The fall of 2020 we released a beta patch for the game. This was mainly a fix to get the multiplayer functionality back on its feet and to benchmark our new hosting provider. In order to test this we invited a couple of hundred players in hope that there would be some valuable feedback based on their experience. The result we got back was somewhat expected but at the same time disheartening. The overall experience was that the game lagged making it hard to throw kicks and anticipate moves by the opponent. Aside from that there were also some really nice ideas suggested that might become future gameplay features. But the lagging part could not be ignored as we strive to make this a fun online multiplayer game.
Fast forward to the present day, today we are happy to share with you what's to come of this game. We will also follow up with more posts the closer we get to release. So without further ado;
This major update of the game will be available for free to all owners, so don’t worry that it will be branded as Taekwondo Grand Prix 2. We know this isn’t much details at the moment but we wanted to share the news with you guys with a final remark, hang in there - great things are yet to come.

The introduction to the game was, to be fair, something awkward and weird and kind of inherited from the mobile days of the game. We did something about that. About time, huh.
First. The reward for winning a match and the penalty for losing one wasn’t quite balanced in the way we wanted it to be. So we rebalanced it, slightly.
Second. Winning or losing - your reward or penalty in the score is now more visible and readable. Check it out in your result screen next time you finish a match.
If you loved having nothing to do in the game while matchmaking - this is a sad update for you. Don’t worry, we’ll rip that bandaid off together, okay? Ready? Steady? Kapaow! Queueing up for a match now offers active practice mode.
One could argue that the use of “NEW” is a bit exaggerated here. We simply dimmed the lights in the Dojang arena. But hey, this is in the world of games and far bigger games have gotten away with far lesser cosmetic changes and called it an E X P A N S I O N. So, here we are. A new arena. Awesome!
As if winning by K.O. didn’t feel awesome enough for you - and embarrassing enough for the losing part - we just added celebrating animations to the winner. Then again, if you’re a good sport about losing, you’ll enjoy the new content as well. Because that’s who we are. A bunch of good losers. Yeah.
Hitting someone with a kick should feel awesome. Rewarding. Juicy. Intense. Moist. Flashy. Cool. We added some more impact animations on successful kicks.
Letters are important. So are special characters and symbols and most of all - your names. We love your names. Our font did not reflect this love. Now it does.
Apparently, our Art Director spent some time exploring some kind of cloth animation for the leaderboard. That’s on the menu screen. Apparently, that was “totally necessary”. And apparently, it only took a “reasonable amount of time” to implement it. So, apparently, it’s in the game now. Leaderboard cloth. It’s a thing.
PS. Our Art Director’s name in the game is Filip. Extra kudos for beating him.

The new update and all its awesome content is going live on Monday and for that, we need to bring down the servers for a while.
More exactly, servers will be down between 12 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, May 13th.
In connection with this, all old rankings will be reset as the first ever Taekwondo Grand Prix Season goes live! We're really excited to be able to take this game to the next level and hope that you will enjoy it as much as we have.
(That very focused-looking dude to the left in the picture is TKD Grand Prix's very own Producer Eric, being right in the middle of an intense round of PUBG and having no idea what so ever that he was also modelling for this post.)

Yes! Grand stuff is coming your way and we are really excited to take the Taekwondo Grand Prix to the next level. Here’s what to expect!
It’s never really over until it’s really over! This powerful move can turn an entire match around (and finish it) and is the perfect way to punish aggressive players not minding their stamina.
Looking for kicks? We got them. All kinds of kicks for you here. High kicks. Low kicks. TURNING kicks! Most importantly, we’ve got some brand new kicks for you. 7 of them, actually. Kicks, that is. Anything else, look somewhere else but if it's kicks that you’re looking for - we got kicks.
We’re very happy about our “stamina-instead-of-health-bar”, and have of course explored it further. Some kicks will drain stamina from your opponent, the instant or over-time cost for a move is revamped so yeah, better get that cardio going.
In the name of international solidarity and to underline the fact that we are all the same, sharing our lives on this planet together - rankings are now global. Peace!
Controls are almost entirely remapped. Kicks are not where they used to be and a bunch of new, excellent moves, have been put in there. We also solved a bunch of technical issues with the previous version.
Who thought martial arts could be so complicated? Well, with new moves, remapped controls and all that new and good stuff in the game - we had to update the pause menu overview. It’s juicy now. And informative.
Ever felt confused regarding how the ranking system and badges work? You might find comfort in the fact that so did we. Jokes aside, it wasn’t as clear as we wished it to be, so we made it more transparent, created new badges and added a progress bar.
Winter is coming. Spring as well. And summer and… Ehm. Wait. SEASONS are coming! And they bring awards for winners. We’re resetting all current ranks and hope for everyone to feel as excited as we are. Good luck!
