To celebrate 25 years of Ghost Recon, we're releasing Last Rites, a free major update for Ghost Recon Wildlands.
This update brings a brand-new narrative mission, long-requested technical improvements, expanded gameplay customization, and the return of one of Wildlands' most iconic missions.
Thank you for being part of the Ghost Recon community. It’s time for us to give something back.
A NEW THREAT: LA LLORONA
A dangerous new threat has emerged as the leader of a dangerous cult driven by revenge. Your mission will take you through hostile territory as you uncover the truth behind her rise and confront a new threat unlike any you've faced before.
The mission can be launched directly from the main menu and is available without completing the main campaign.
WILDLANDS AT 4K/60FPS
One of the community's most requested improvements is here.
Current-generation players can now experience Ghost Recon Wildlands with 4K resolution, 60 FPS gameplay, improved responsiveness and smoother performance in general.
NEW CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS
You have asked for deeper customization of gameplay and immersion for a while now. The new Ghost Parameters, HUD and Difficulty Options, and World and Session Settings allow you to customize realism, challenge, immersion, interface options, gameplay rules and more, giving you greater control.
Will you become the hunter, or the hunted? The Predator takes no survivors. Head to the Caimanes Province in the Campaign and face your toughest challenge to date once again.
NEW SKINS AND ITEMS
Completing Last Rites will unlock two new Operator Skins and one new Iconic Skin.
We're also adding a selection of new Character Smith items and previously unreleased Character Smith Camos, all unlocked from the get-go.
Mercenaries Mode and Guerrilla Mode rewards have been unlocked for all to enjoy too, alongside some challenges rewards that were no longer obtainable.
All Ghost War Classes are now unlockable for free, with various weapons in PVP now unlocked by default.
Exclusive items like the Santa Blanca Skorpion have been revived as Twitch Drops alongside a few new items. They will be available for free to all players later on.
Finally, items previously locked in Battle Crates and Prestige Crates have been re-bundled either for free or at a reduced price in the in-game store, and many of them have been unlocked by default as well!
DEFINITIVE EDITION
For new players, a new Definitive Edition is available, containing the base game and all previous DLC from the Season Pass, Year 2 Pass, Quick Start Pack and the Deluxe Pack.
The Definitive Edition also contains two new cosmetic DLC Packs notably featuring brand-new Operator Skins: the Cold Eye Pack and the Nightfall Protocol Pack.
For long time players, both DLCs are of course available separately on your platform storefront or as part of the new Definitive Edition Upgrade. The Cold Eye Pack and Nightfall Protocol Pack content can also be acquired à la carte or all at once in the in-game store should you prefer.

Modified the in-game store in clearer categories to make all store offers and store items available for direct purchase without the need to go through loot boxes or waiting for packs to show up in the now removed daily offers rotation.
Battle Crates and Prestige Crates have been removed from sale from the in-game store but can still be opened if purchased or obtained before the update.
Various items previously locked exclusively in Battle Crates have been rebundled as “Collections” available in the in-game store at a reduced price.

Hey Ghosts,
We are pleased to announce that Steam Achievements are now available for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands!
As a heads up, achievements will be retroactively earned for the accomplishments already completed in your game. For the sync to happen you need to launch the game once, and the previously unlocked Ubisoft Connect achievements will be automatically unlocked on Steam.

Structurally and substantially, Ghost Recon Wildlands and its sequel, Breakpoint, are very similar to the other Ubisoft open-world monoliths. Like Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, and to a lesser extent The Division, you're free to explore a gigantic map. It's split into counties and biomes, and your job is to take them over one by one, eliminating a series of lieutenants and captains as you kill your way to the top of a criminal empire. But the Ghost Recon reboots have one unique, brilliant central idea. Years after they launched, they're suddenly surging on Steam and available cheaper than ever - if you never tried Ghost Recon Wildlands or Breakpoint before, now is definitely the time.

For owners of PS Plus Extra, you'll be able to pick up three different Yakuza titles, which is just the beginning for Yakuza fans or those keen to try out the series for the first time.
Ultimately, the full Yakuza series is going to be coming to PS Plus before the end of 2022. So, if you've never tried the games out, now's the time to start.

To celebrate the Ghost Recon games turning 20 years old next month, Ubisoft last night announced Ghost Recon frontline, a free-to-play battle royale shooter. But they haven't entirely forgotten the roots of the tactical shooter series, because they're giving the first game away free for keepsies right now. You've got a few days to grab 2001's Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon and remember the good ol' days. Ubi are giving away some DLC for the latest games too.

With its sequel, Breakpoint, just a few months off, Ubisoft have one last gift for Ghost Recon Wildlands players that stuck around, launching free on July 18th. Mercenaries is an eight-player multiplayer mode and a radical departure from the regular game. Part survival challenge, part mini battle royale (with respawns), it reminds me of Survival mode from The Division, but on a much larger scale. Starting with just a knife, players race to clear NPC-held camps, activate transmitters and call in an evac helicopter with just one free seat. Below, a trailer explaining how it all works.

We hear a lot about level designers in games. Voice actors, concept artists, big directors. Kate Edwards is none of those things. She is a geographer. It seems like an odd job for the games industry, but the more you learn about her work, the more it feels essential. Edwards is hired by studios to cast her geo-eye over the shuffling NPCs of sci-fi space stations, to examine tiny markings in the giant buildings of first-person shooters, and inspect the maps of sprawling fantasy realms. She s there to ask one thing: is this game being ignorant? The answer is often yes .

It s the next big shooty Ubisoft game with all the military folk, sequel to the previous big shooty Ubisoft game with all the military folk. But now we’re in the future, and it’s got that bloke who plays the Punisher in it.
Point being, I wasn’t expecting much from the Ghost Recon: Wildlands followup. After creeping my way through an hour at E3, though, I’m keen to creep through some more.
Ubisoft, who make RPGs about a 3000-year-long battle between freedom and order , FPSs about liberating occupied lands , and military shooters so jingoistic they cause governmental complaints , have been arguing for a long time that their games aren t political. Yesterday, they po

A fictional Pacific archipelago, a mega-corporation and an army of killbot-assisted high-tech mercs. Ghost Recon Breakpoint, announced today and out on October 4th, looks largely like we expected from Ubisoft’s leak last night. A sequel to sandbox shooter Ghost Recon Wildlands, trading the ethically sketchy ‘US covert ops fighting the drug war’ setting for a more videogamey near-future scenario. As with its predecessor, it’s a co-op focused game playable solo or with up to three buddies, optional PvP, and even plans for a post-release raid on a villain’s volcano lair. See the debut trailer and a quarter-hour of action below.
