Patch 1.5.2
Minor patch to resolve a security issue identified for games using the Unity game engine. Also fixed Steam Cloud pointing to the wrong directory on Mac, which I guess has been broken ever since the game released nine-and-a-half years ago O_O

What's this, a new patch for The Eyes of Ara? That's right! Patch 1.5 is now live, and with it comes a few optimizations and improvements:
FPS Limiter
A new Limit Frame Rate option added to the Display Settings. This will allow you to cap the frame rate to your desired limit (or unlimited), such as when syncing the FPS to your monitor's refresh rate.
The first time you load the game after downloading the patch this will default to 60fps.
Engine Update
The game has been updated to use the latest version of Unity. Visually you shouldn't notice anything different, but this does bring with it a bunch of performance optimizations under the hood, so users running on older PCs may experience improved performance.
Puzzle Updates

Chapter 1: The six-tile ceiling puzzle has been changed to only require the tiles to be rotated into the correct orientation, and no longer requires this to also be done in the correct order. A small change that should make this early-game puzzle less confusing (and save me from answering emails about this until the end of time).
Chapter 3: The laboratory PC's display has been updated to make it more obvious that two steps are required to unlock the PC.

A freaky terror creeps and crawls,
There’s something spooky within these halls!
Venture into The Eyes of Ara for a special Halloween experience - the old castle has been decked out with all manner of creepy skeletons, spooky spiders, and terrifying tombstones.
What’s more, the Pumpkin Lord has hidden a collection of eerie blue Jack-o’-lanterns throughout the castle. Only the most steadfast adventurer will extinguish them all and locate the entrance to the Pumpkin Lord’s tomb!
The Eyes of Ara: Haunted Halloween is active in game from October 27 to November 2.

Patch 1.4 - The Explorer’s Journal
Patch 1.4 is now live, and with it comes a handy new and often requested feature - the Explorer's Journal . Whenever you read a book/note/PC/etc, a copy of it will be stored for easy access at any time in that chapter. Simply click the book icon on the left hand side of the inven
Patch 1.4 is now live, and with it comes a handy new and often requested feature - the Explorer's Journal.
Whenever you read a book/note/PC/etc, a copy of it will be stored for easy access at any time in that chapter. Simply click the book icon on the left hand side of the inventory bar to bring up the Journal UI. From here you can look through all the books and notes you have found in the chapter!
In addition, certain clues found throughout each chapter will also be automatically added as notes in the Journal after you locate them in game, reducing the amount of hand scribbled notes you need to keep lying around ːsteamhappyː
This update also includes a few other bug fixes and changes (including, you may have noticed, a new logo and desktop icon!) read below for the full patch notes.

UI

Explorer’s Journal added. After a book/note/etc has been read once it will be accessible via the Journal while within that chapter. Click the book icon on the left side of the UI to open the Journal UI, or use the J hotkey.
Increased texture resolution of inventory item icons.
Gameplay

Changed the text on the laboratory PC in Chapter 3 to more clearly indicate the two steps necessary to access it.
Added visual markers to the concentric circle puzzle in the sewer to aid with alignment.

In addition, the Castle Maps DLC is available in all supported languages, including German and Russian which were introduced in patch 1.2.00.
Gameplay changes

Increased the zoom range of books
Changed the code sheet in the gem room in Chapter 3 to use symbols rather than letters (this should help players playing the game in non-latin based languages)
Bug Fixes

Fixed an issue that was causing the text on some in-game PC screens to not display correctly.
Fixed inconsistent fonts when playing the game in some languages.

Good news! The two most requested translations for The Eyes of Ara are now available. Russian and German speaking players can now enjoy the game in their native language. A big thanks to Alexander Preymak for the Russian translation, and Nina Neuwirth for the German translation.

Added dust mote particles to many rooms
Game window will no longer minimize when clicking outside of the game window
Camera will no longer auto-rotate when mousing outside of the game window, such as onto a second monitor.
Mac: Mousing over the edge of the screen will no longer cause the dock to appear
Localisation

Russian and German translations now available. Languages can be switched in the Display settings from the main menu.
Demo

The Eyes of Ara Free Demo has also been updated with all of this patch’s features, including the translations.
