After our recent PS5/Xbox Series X announcement in which we promised a 120fps/4K update for the console versions of Monster Boy, we received many inquiries from PC players around the world. We'd like to confirm that all upcoming Next-Gen Console features are already built into the PC Version of Monster Boy. As you may remember, it took us more than half a year to work on the PC version of Monster Boy after the console version was released. There was a specific reason for that. The PC Version comes with UHD+ Support, unlocked framerate (even higher than 120fps) and Ultra Wide Monitor support. PC Players already own the ultimate version of Monster Boy and it's just limited by your hardware. You're welcome ;).

Hi Everyone, We hope you're all having tons of fun with Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom! Today we'd like to give you an update on what we've been working on to improve your experience. The first patch is going to be released soon (it's currently in testing). Here's some information on it
Patch #1 includes:
Ring Menu:ON setting will get a QoL update. If you liked the current functionality, nothing changes for you. Additionally it will be possible to hold the key, choose the transformation/magic with the L-Stick and confirm by just releasing the key. This way the ring menu will be faster to use.
Better stability in sound module when the sound device is removed or unplugged. (we received crashlogs which showed issues here).
Fixed a camera glitch in Lost Temples region.
Fixed menu navigation issue when a specific amount of items was stocked.
Jukebox songs play to the end properly (2 songs have been buggy)
Low performance mode: If you run below 30fps the game will now execute render updates to avoid physics issues with jump height and water currents.
Fixed graphical bug in background with a specific level.
Once you entered volcano area, small savespots will revive you with 5 hearts refilled instead of 3 in case of failing.
Fixed spawn position of a crate in the forest that was buggy when playing with unlocked framerate above 120fps.
Improved fullscreen video setting to hopefully prevent low resolution startup bug that was reported by some players.

A few words about the delayed PC release: We think it was totally worth the extra effort to make it more than just a simple port. The PC has wonderful features and great displays that are optimal for a lag-free super enjoyable Metroidvania game. We just wanted to give it the time so we can deliver a great version on a platform that we all love.
If you didn't already please wishlist it so you don't miss the launch on July 25! <3
Dear Friends and Fans, we're so close to launch - just 10 more days!! OMG! :o Here's a little news tidbit as the trading card question came up today: YES we'll have them! :) cheers! Still 10 days... but soon 9 days..

Hi Everyone, the manual is available for download on the product page, feel free to grab it in preparation of your grand adventure! We used the PS4 physical release manual and replaced PlayStation buttons with the ones from Xbox Controllers. Actually this makes the Steam version of the manual quite unique! Since we didn’t have a physical release on Xbox, we never made a manual for it. ^_^

Hi Everyone,
we're preparing the launch of the game! The release candidate build went into final QA testing yesterday! We're also going to update the demo once more, just to have parity between that and the release version. We had to fix an audio-related bug that was caused by resuming the computer from standby with the game running in background. It wasn't a big issue but we wanted to make sure that known issues are fixed as much as possible before the release.
As for the price, as promised we set a lower price than on console. The game will launch at $29.99 / €29.99 and we'll have a 10% Launch Discount. Please put it on your wishlist today! Thanks a lot for your patience! <3

As always your feedback is very welcome!

Developer Game Atelier's superb Wonder Boy 3 spiritual successor Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is finally heading to PC, with a Steam and GOG release now confirmed for 25th July.
Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom (not to be confused with Lizardcube's sublime Wonder Boy 3 remake, Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap) initially launched on Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 late last year, where it was met with immediate acclaim - so confirmation of a PC release date, although long-promised, is well overdue.
And if you've even a passing interest in 2D platformers, Monster Boy is well worth your consideration, taking the Wonder Boy series' familiar transformation mechanic and spinning it out into a gorgeously presented, ceaselessly inventive adventure.

Hello Everyone,
many thanks for checking out the demo and for posting your feedback! It helped us a lot to find any remaining issues with the game on various PC configurations.
We're now working on an Update for the Demo which takes care of many things that have been reported. It will also include a fix for the dreaded sound effects issue. We're also going to unlock DualCore support.

Charming Wonder Boy spiritual successor Monster Boy And The Cursed Kingdom did well for itself on consoles, and now us PC folks can play a free slice of it (with saves transferrable to the final game) while we wait for the full release. Developed by Game Atelier, what it lacks in official Wonder Boy branding, it makes up for in original series creator Ryuichi Nishizawa being involved in production. It’s a bright and bouncy Metroid-ish adventure, with bucketloads of weapons, tools and transformation powers to collect. You can play the demo here on Steam, or see a trailer below.

Hi Everyone,
we're one step closer to the release of the game! The demo is now available!
Please download and test it on your machines. If you run into any trouble please post a message in the comments or discussion board section - we're going to check them out.
In the demo you'll be playing the human form of Jin. Experience the very beginning of the game and learn your first spell. You can explore land and underwater with many hidden coins and even an extra heart.
The full version will import the demo savegame so you can continue your adventure when it's out. Please enjoy! ^_^

Hello Everyone, we just submitted the Demo Build to Steam for review. It will take a couple of business days until we can release it. It's almost here now!
We'll launch the demo immediately after completing the review process, so please check this product page regularly now. ;)
The demo will contain the first chapter of the game including the first boss fight. Take it as a little warm-up for the grand adventure that'll take over 20 hours(!) to complete.
Please let us know in case you run into any issues with your machine. We'll be very active on the Monster Boy discussion board when the demo is live. The full version is almost ready, too - but first we want to be sure the demo runs great for the majority of players. Once all is fine we launch the game.
Thank you for your patience and please look forward to Monster Boy! ^_^

Hello Everyone, we planned to release the Monster Boy Demo in April but we missed it, sorry! It’s coming soon but we think it’s also worth the wait. We unlocked the Framerate and we’re close to have it working nicely. The whole team is hard at work to deliver the best possible experience.
Here's a preview of the video settings menu:
Some explanations about this menu:
- You can freely choose the resolution, also ultrawide+ - Framerate is unlocked unless you activate Framerate Limiter or/and VSYNC - Screen Shakes: Avoids any camera shaking for players who're sensitive to that - Texture Quality: You can drop the texture quality to run the game stable with ~1GB VRAM (e.g. on intel GPU Laptops). You'll be able to test it with the upcoming demo. - Reduce Flashing light: Full screen white flashes are eliminated to reduce the risk of epilepsy for players who're sensitive. - Ultrawide Border Design: We designed very neat dynamic borders that'll fill any ultrawide screen if the level isn't wide enough (e.g. narrow passages or boss rooms). You can choose between 2 interactive designs or simple black borders (3 options total).
As a response to your feedback in Developer Update #3: We’ll include Xbox One, PS4 and NSW Pro Controller symbols in the game. We're testing the game with Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch Pro and Steam Controller. When the demo is out, please test with your own controller and let us know if it works properly for you.
