Centered around the concept of “addictive fear,” the video introduces the protagonist Grace Ashcroft and the setting of Raccoon City, along with never-before-seen gameplay footage. It’s a must-watch that heightens interest and anticipation for this title, which focuses on the “fear experience” — the very core of the series.

If you've booted up the mobile versions of Resident Evil 4, 7, or Village recently, and found you couldn't play without an internet connection, you're not the only one.
It's pretty common for a lot of mobile titles to require an internet connection, particularly gacha games that'll be running checks to make sure you're not cheating, but it's rare for single-player games to need them. Except as spotted by some fans online, a recent update for Resident Evil 4, 7, and Village on iOS respectively all made it so that you need an internet connection when booting the game up. "Due to changes to the startup process, an internet connection is now required when starting this app," reads the update note for each game.
This is obviously a thoroughly odd choice, with users on Reddit suggesting that it might be because of data collection or DRM checks, though that is only speculation, and would be an odd thing to do on the latter point given just how many single-player games don't require you to be connected to the internet. A number of other users on Reddit also expressed the desire to request refunds in light of the change, though considering how many people reportedly bought these games, that probably won't be that many people anyway.

In addition to providing the promised details about the recently announced Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, last night's Capcom Next showcase also provided a bit more Resident Evil news than you might have expected. A fresh entry in the series has been oficially confirmed to be in development, with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard's director at the helm.
During the showcase, Resi 7 director Koshi Nakanishi popped up to deliver the good news, simply declaring: "We're making a new Resident Evil game" during a pretty sick transition between a sunset and his face.
In case you missed it, Capcom casually revealed that the original Dead Rising's getting a remake yesterday . It's called Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, and your first chance to see anything about it beyond the inital teaser trailer will be at the summer Capcom Next showcase the pub
While it's not the only game set to show up, it's fair to say the remaster will be the main event of this nice little broadcast, likely offering a chance for you to go 'eugh, Frank definitely looks weird now' or 'you know, I don't mind how Frank looks now' numerous times before it concludes.
You'll be able to catch the summer 2024 edition of Capcom Next on July 1 at 3PM PT, which is 11PM BST and 6PM ET. All ya gotta do is rock up and press play on the video above when that time hits and you'll be drowned in the video game.

Capcom have unveiled the next generation of their in-house RE Engine, which came in alongside Resident Evil 7 in 2017 and has been used by a bunch of projects over the years, from the excellent Devil May Cry 5 to the forthcoming possibly-excellent Dragon's Dogma 2. RE Engine's successor, the REX engine, is a response to three things - 1) RE Engine productions getting bigger in terms of assets, and more diverse in terms of genre, 2) RE Engine games being increasingly made by overseas developers who speak different languages, and 3) unflattering comparisons with various commercial tools, like Unreal Engine and Unity.

Each of the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games are decent at worst and excellent at best, depending on your tastes. Resident Evil 7 is a modern classic and kicked off a new age of first-person Resident Evil games. It did a lot to push horror games back into the limelight thanks to its mix of classic Resident Evil style and a refreshing new perspective. It’s well worth a play if you somehow missed it.

I'm very much a horror fanatic, but I'm simultaneously a cosy gamer through and through. That said, when the Nintendo Direct revealed that not one, not two, but four main instalments in the Resident Evil series would be coming to Nintendo Switch via the Cloud, I jumped for joy.
Kicking things off is Resident Evil Village. The eighth and most recent instalment in the series will arrive on Switch as of October 28, with the Winter' Expansion DLC accompanying it on December 2.
In addition to being able to get up close and personal with Lady Dimitrescu from your Switch, you'll also be able to spend some time with Jack Baker, Tyrant, and Nemesis from the comfort of your bed, sofa, or wherever you choose to play your Switch games. Resident Evil Biohazard, plus the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, all currently have Cloud versions in development with releases planned for later this year. Looks like a cosy Christmas with Chris Redfield for me!
