We’ve been closely monitoring your feedback in the first few hours following release and have quickly put together the first patch with fixes and improvements.
Here is what’s changed:
Performance:
Game performance on lower-spec PCs has been improved.
Bug fixes:
Fixed a bug with the order of Combos.
Fixed a bug that caused some of your skull companion’s phrases to overlap.
Improved localisation for Asian languages.
Fixed and updated some visual assets and icons.

Hello everyone! It’s time to go all out!🔥 We’ve just released an update, based on your feedback during Next Fest. This patch focuses on getting you into the gameplay faster, increasing the variety of runs, and giving you early access to key features of the game. List of changes:

It’s time to go all out!🔥
We’ve just released an update, based on your feedback during Next Fest. This patch focuses on getting you into the gameplay faster, increasing the variety of runs, and giving you early access to key features of the game.
List of changes:
The tutorial has been significantly shortened and now lasts much less time – up to the first boss
Basic mechanics are now unlocked much earlier (for example, Astral Power, which allows you to flip the cube to any value)
Meta-progression between runs is now available right from the start of the game, allowing you to plan your strategy from the very first seconds.
Significantly more items and boons are unlocked from the outset for a more varied and unpredictable gaming experience
A unique visual style and distinct atmosphere have been added for each individual layer (act) of the game
If you enjoy the demo, please add Cheat Death to your wishlist. This directly improves our visibility in Steam’s algorithms and really helps the project on its way to release.

Death still misses you, and previous opponents weren't enough, so we are launching the third wave of our closed playtest for those who are ready to face the challenge.
This is a major update that completely transforms the gameplay experience – practically a whole new game. We’ve overhauled the core systems to make your battles even more intense.
What’s changed:
Updated tutorial
Redesigned mini-games (roulette, dice station, wheel of fortune)
Death is now manipulating the results too
HP and healing system (HP is no longer tied to gold)
Added poker hands
Meta-progression (quest selection and permanent upgrades)
Added Black market, where you can buy expensive items any time
The game has evolved. I have evolved. Are you ready to try and cheat me again?

Since the last playtest many aspects of the game has changed, thanks a lot to your feedback. We took some time off to work on Cheat Death properly, and now it is more in the state we wanted it to be. You helped us a lot by sharing your thoughts and issues you have encountered.
Now we’re opening the playtest sign-ups once again, and we can’t wait for you to try the game once more!
Key Features:
Play Poker With Death. Use various types of dice with unique effects and roll poker combinations, trying to outscore Death in its own domain.
High-Stakes Survival. Risk it all at the Roulette table, the Wheel of Fortune, or the Dice Station to earn a chance to escape dark limbo.
Cheat to Win. Use powerful artifacts and boons to bend the rules and manipulate the results of every roll. Death cheats, but so can you.
Face the Grim Reaper. There is only you, Death and a bunch of dice in this strange mystical void with horror and chilling atmosphere.
Click “Request Access” on the Steam page and we’ll let you in once the playtest starts!

Death still misses you, and previous opponents weren't enough. We are opening the doors for another Closed Playtest!
If you missed the first one or want to face the challenge again – now is your time.
This is a major update in which we have completely reworked the core mechanics to make the game more systematic, strategic, and dependent on your actions. It's a whole new experience — practically a different game.
What has changed:
4 types of dice – each with a unique effect.
Battles with Death – completely redesigned.
Shop – added to the game.
Items and upgrades – redesigned for deeper strategy.
Tutorial – completely reworked.
Visual and sound effects – many new effects added to enhance the atmosphere.
Arena visuals – completely reworked.
Map navigation – the way you move around the map has changed.
And remember: Your souls are still MINE!

Your Death is inevitable, but before that sweet moment you still have some time to play games a little more..
Cheat Death is coming to Scream Next Fest with a lot of updates and the first playable Build.
What can you expect from that build:
CHEATING - Core mechanic - After throwing the dice, you can Сheat by clicking on the dice (or skull) to reroll it (all of them) or by dragging dice in the desired direction to change the result. This raises death's awareness and anger(bottom right corner) . Too much of it and you are dead.
DEADLY GAZE - Death's vision scans the board after rolls - if you Cheat when the dice is being scanned, you lose.
ALLLY - the Previous Soul that played the games. Luckily it isn’t you yet. YET.
DICE SLINGING - You will be slinging dice left and right! Watch where you throw them…
