When a footballer retired, their profile showed their retirement age rather than their current age. However, this was not clear to players. Now, when viewing a retired footballer's profile, it explicitly states that this is their age at retirement, not their current age.
In the previous update, we fixed a bug where footballers could upgrade skills past the maximum allowed level under certain circumstances. However, some players already had these footballers in their campaigns, and if they ended up in the player's squad, the game would fail to save. The game now automatically checks for such footballers in the player's squad, fixes them, and allows the game to save normally.

In this update, we have made quite a few fixes and improvements. None of them add anything major, but several significantly enhance gameplay and make the game more enjoyable.
We want to return to working on FTG2 to be able to release it in Early Access next year. Therefore, this update is the final major update for World Championship. From now on, there will only be minor fixes for bugs, crashes, or text errors.
Gameplay & Quality of Life Improvements
[Transfers]:
All classes a footballer possesses are now displayed on the Transfers and Search screens. If a footballer has two classes, for example, you will know about it.
Previously, when buying a footballer without skills, the available skills were generated at the moment of purchase. This allowed players to exit the game via Task Manager and reload to buy the footballer again until a new set of skills generated. Now, potential skills are generated alongside the footballer's "birth".
[National Team Call-ups]:
When selecting footballers for the national team, you will now see all classes they possess.
Previously, calling up new footballers automatically altered the national team’s formation. We now preserve the last formation you used and attempt to fit the new footballers into this layout.
Previously, when picking footballers for the national team, Passing was highlighted as the main Attribute for Defensive Midfielders. Now, Defence will be highlighted.
The game will now pause the calendar the day after your footballers are called up to the national team, allowing you to see who was called up and how much Glory you earned.
[Hidden Formations]:
In the hidden formations mode, the order of footballers in the list corresponded to the order in which the game fields them. Once you understood the pattern, you could roughly calculate where the footballers were positioned, which partially defeated the purpose of hiding formations. We have now ensured that within the defensive, midfield, and attacking zones, footballers are randomized in the list. You will still see who plays in the next match, but you will need to predict their exact positioning.
[Manager Career]:
Previously, on the Jobs screen, you could specify which country you wanted to manage in. Based on this choice, at least one offer came from a club in that country. We have now added an "Any" option, giving you offers from random countries.
[Calendar]:
In the qualification stages of national team tournaments, we implemented a new algorithm for alternating home and away matches. Teams will no longer play all or almost all of their first-leg matches at home, ensuring a balanced rotation.
[Statistics]:
National team call-ups are now displayed in footballer statistics even if the footballer did not play a single match for the national team. National team trophies will also appear in their profile if they were called up to the final tournament without playing a match.
[New Campaign]:
Previously, to start a game as a national team manager, a player had to 1) Launch the "Start in Top Leagues" mode, 2) Grant themselves sufficient Reputation, and 3) Search for job offers. If the player selected or created a club at stage 3, national team offers were not generated. We have updated this so that national team offers arrive even if you select or create a club at stage 3.
[Head-to-Head Screen]:
Buttons opening team profiles have been added to the team comparison screen, reducing the number of clicks needed when scouting opponents or viewing other matches.
[Footballer Lists]:
The dimmed Energy bar on the footballer card has been darkened to improve visibility for players with visual impairments.
[National Team Screen]:
If you manage a national team and access the national team screen during an active club phase, changes to the national team formation were not saved. They will now be saved.
[Coach Abilities]:
In the description of Youth Academy coach abilities, it was not always clear whether your academy level was high enough to receive the ability benefits. The game will now highlight the description in green if the level is sufficient, and red if it is not.
[Tournament Renaming]:
In some languages, the number of variations for renaming tournaments exceeded screen capacity, so we added a scrollbar.
Balance Improvements
[Footballer Specialisation]:
In the specialisation tree, you could speed up skill learning by 30%, and then by another 40%, aiming for a combined acceleration of 70%. However, due to incorrect calculations, the actual total acceleration for footballers currently learning a skill was 58%. We fixed the formula so that the acceleration for the skill currently being learned is accurately 70% instead of 58%.
[Sponsor Tasks]:
Sponsors previously refrained from offering Prestige Cup tasks in the first season, but brought them up constantly afterward. This was originally designed because early game versions allowed players to win the Prestige Cup in season two. This is now virtually impossible, making these sponsor options frustrating. Prestige Cup tasks will now only appear after you finish a season in the upper half of the Third League table. Similarly, tasks to win the National Cup have been removed while you play in First League.
Bug Fixes
[Top Club AI]: This is an important fix!
The game assigns a smart manager to certain clubs who handles club management and formation selection more effectively (top clubs). This manager understands the strengths and weaknesses of the player's formation and sets up a solid counter-formation using a complex multi-factor analysis. However, several small code errors caused the manager to sometimes focus on header play instead of combining Long Pass + Cannon Shot or Long Pass + Rainbow Feint, even with suitable footballers available. We resolved this issue, so opponents in top-club matches will now use Long Pass-focused formations more frequently, making these matches slightly more challenging.
[Artificial Intelligence]:
When using certain formations, the AI could shield the ball to the point of receiving a penalty for time wasting. We taught the AI not to stall with the ball.
The AI occasionally stopped selecting balanced classes for substitutions, sometimes leaving out forwards entirely. This has been resolved.
[Defensive Midfielders]: This is an important fix!
The Defensive Midfielder bonus that increased Defence when the Interception talent was leveled to level 3 was accidentally removed. We restored this bonus, making level 3 Interception Defensive Midfielders more dangerous.
Information about this bonus was previously missing from the Defensive Midfielder class tooltip and the Footballpedia article. This information is now included.
[CD vs Wing Forwards]:
During the Wing Break-In action in a match, CD dice displayed full Defence, even though a -50% penalty was applied to this attribute. This made it appear as though the penalty was inactive. The dice display issue is now fixed.
[Footballer Search]:
Footballers playing for the player's club could appear in transfer searches if they also played for a national team.
When finding footballers on the Search screen with a gamepad connected, clicking on footballers in the search results with a mouse selected only the first footballer. Fixed.
As a reminder: if a gamepad is connected but you play FTG with a mouse, you can disable the gamepad interface in the game properties within your Steam Library.
[World Generation]:
During world generation, footballer levels could misalign with the assigned Attributes, granting some footballers significantly higher Attributes than their level warranted.
[Footballer Lists]:
If a footballer placed in the top 3 of both club and national tournaments, the game displayed this information inconsistently on the footballer list item. The top-1/2/3 icon and tooltip will now account for all tournaments where the footballer ranked among the best.
Changing a footballer's class during a match incorrectly persisted after the match ended. Class changes on the pre-match preparation screen and the in-match substitution screen will no longer save after the match.
While the Team, Training, and Contracts screens recognized the context of the current tournament, the Specialisation screen remained tied solely to league matches. This prevented swapping footballers before cup matches. This is now fixed.
A check before league matches ensures at least one representative is present in each pitch zone, but this check was not functioning in other tournaments. It now works across all tournaments.
[Finances]:
Sponsors failed to pay out prize money for winning the third continental cup.
[Statistics]:
On the statistics screen for all footballers who ever played for the club, national team appearances were added to the total club matches played.
At the end of the season, text lines regarding bonus fans and Glory for making the national team top 11 were removed, as these mechanics do not apply to national teams.
[Head-to-Head Screen]:
Opening the team comparison screen from the tables after a national team match compared the selected national team with the player's club. It now correctly compares the selected national team with the player's national team.
[Footballer Progression]:
Upon learning a fourth specialisation class, a footballer was meant to receive double specialisation experience for the next 10 matches. The bonus previously applied for only 9 matches and now functions for the full 10.
[Mini-pitch]:
In tactical pitch view, Attributes affected by class effects or match events are displayed, but negative effects from a sending-off were omitted. They are now displayed.
If a footballer knew multiple classes, standard mini-pitch mode defaulted the colour to the first learned class on their shirt, even if you switched to a different class.
[Match Viewing]:
If a match scheduled for viewing coincided with the final day of the transfer window, a Contracts button appeared that launched the match view when clicked. We replaced this button with a Watch button.
[Calendar]: Fixed calendar opening in the wrong months:
When playing in the final stage of a national team tournament, clicking the Calendar opened the first month of the season instead of the current month.
If you scheduled a national team match to watch in the following year, opening the calendar displayed the month of the scheduled match rather than the current month.
[Inbox Messages]: Fixed several issues in national tournament inbox messages:
Winning a third-place match triggered a message stating the team advanced to the next round.
Winning a semi-final triggered a message stating the team advanced to the next round - the third-place match.
Certain post-match emails failed to name the next opponent, even when the opponent was already determined.
The date for the next match could display incorrectly if a round was split over several days.
[Tournament Renaming]:
Renaming the World Championship caused the new name to insert incorrectly into email texts.
[National Team Editor]:
Editing a national team flag in the National Team Editor displayed an incorrect tooltip.
[Campaign Creation]:
Fixed improper navigation transitions between campaign creation windows under rare combinations of starting settings.
[Tutorial]:
Certain manager license tests regarding heading failed to complete on the first attempt under specific game settings.
[Main Menu]:
After playing a national team match and returning to the main menu, national team footballers passing the ball displayed sponsor logos on their shirts that should not have been present.
[Text]:
Fixed incorrect round declension usage in German.
Updated Korean language texts.
Fixed overly long words in Polish.
[UI Flickering]:
Fixed font flickering in rare scenarios.

Recently, we allowed you to view the match history for other clubs. Now, we also show all upcoming matches for the current season on this screen.
Previously, the Economy screen did not display the Glory spent persuading a club to sell a footballer. Now, it appears in brackets when you view purchased footballers and in the total Glory spent on buying footballers.
The Top 10 National Team Footballers screen now highlights players representing the national team you manage.
We have slightly improved AI behaviour during substitutions caused by injuries or red cards. If the AI is managing your team, it now tries to maintain your formation during substitutions (previously, the AI would bring on the best available footballers and alter the formation to maximise usage of their classes).
Bug fixes
The Search screen shows all the footballers you can see in the game world. If footballers in teams playing on other continents do not appear in the game, you cannot find them on the Search screen either. However, you could see national team footballers from other continents, yet the Search screen failed to display them. Now it will.
If a footballer is transfer-listed, but you have not sent scouts to gather the list, trying to buy him directly from the club means they will demand the footballer's full value without a transfer discount - which can be quite substantial if you have well-developed scouts. This is by design. However, the value of footballers in foreign clubs used to drop as soon as they were transfer-listed, no matter if you sent the scouts or not. This meant you received a discount even if you had not sent scouts to other countries. This has been fixed.
When a footballer was sent out on loan for a year, his contract duration did not decrease.
For footballers turning 41, the system incorrectly displayed their contract length, increasing it by half a year. This made it look like the footballer would carry on playing, when in reality he should have already left the club.
The Top 10 National Team Footballers screen displayed stars next to the logos of the clubs the footballers played for.
We removed the "Hiring agents" item from the Economy screen, which carried over into the game from FTG2 by mistake.
Depending on a specific combination of tournament winners and the number of countries in the campaign, a team that should have entered the qualifying stage would sometimes qualify directly for the group stage of the main continental tournament.
In the second continental cup, after a group stage match, the third-place spot - which grants entry to the third continental cup - was not highlighted in a separate colour.
In very rare cases, the game crashed during a corner kick under a specific combination of actions.

The game now marks the flag of footballers called up to the national team for previous matches with a star. This lets you easily distinguish international players from others, both in your own club and when viewing other teams.

We have slightly increased the "attentiveness" of AI club scouts when viewing your team's footballers. As a result, if scouts do not find suitable footballers during a regular review of your squad, they can now take a more detailed look. This increases the likelihood of clubs finding players they like. However, we do not force clubs to buy players they do not need. You will only receive offers if clubs find suitable footballers at the right price.
Previously, rookie goalkeepers could only develop into universal classes. Now, you can also train a rookie goalkeeper into specialised classes. This freedom is also available to AI teams.
Previously, if a mod used a custom surnames file, all Premier League footballers would only share the local nationality, with no foreign players. This restriction has now been removed. Regardless of whether a custom surnames file is used, foreign players will be generated with the same settings as in the unmodified game.
We have made adjustments to the formation selection system so that it tries not to disrupt your custom formation during match simulation or viewing if an injury or red card occurs.
Bug Fixes
On the board expectations screen under certain circumstances, the penalty for an unhappy board was displayed with a plus sign instead of a minus.
During matches, rookie goalkeepers did not receive the +10% control bonus.
When preparing for a new season, the squad could change randomly under certain circumstances.
We previously arranged for the higher-ranked team to be the home team in the group stage of the national team final tournament. Unfortunately, this change also slipped into the qualification stage. In existing campaigns, this will be fixed starting from the next national team tournament.
If the player's team dropped from the second continental tournament into the third, the calendar still displayed matches from the second cup.
The "All Footballers" club statistics did not show players who were away on international duty at that moment.
The "Most Important Match of the Season" achievement could be unlocked if the opponent motivated their team instead of you doing so.
The email celebrating a victory in the third continental cup was sent by the old manager instead of the club president.
If a manager has the nationality of a country from one continent but coaches a national team from another continent, some emails used the manager's continent in the tournament name for the continental championship.

So now, we let you either upgrade to a new class or pick any available ability you like. This way, even if a footballer has gained specialisation experience in a class you don't need, it will still benefit you.
[Quality of Life] - Previously, in Start in the Higher Leagues mode, manager licence tests did not appear in the Footballpedia. They will now be displayed there regardless of whether tutorial is turned on or off.
[Bug Fixed] - When looking at fixtures of clubs from other continents, their tournaments used the names of tournaments from your own continent.

Balance Changes
We changed the guaranteed specialization points footballers receive after a match based on game length. Previously, all lengths guaranteed 5 points. The new values are as follows:
48 actions → 5 specialization points
60 actions → 6 specialization points
90 actions → 9 specialization points
34-year-old free agents will no longer join your club if you are from different countries.
34-year-old free agents will no longer join your club if your league is 2+ tiers lower than their current club's league.
Previously, the freedom to choose 2 top footballers in the youth academy became available as soon as you acquired the corresponding manager skill. We have now added a youth academy level requirement. On Normal difficulty, the academy must have at least 1 star. On Hard - at least 2 stars. On Easy - there are no academy requirements.
The cost of choosing 2 top footballers now depends on the youth academy level.
Choosing from 3 top footballers now costs more than choosing from 2.
Bug Fixes
[Fixed Bug] - The "Owner of Trophies" achievement was not triggering.
[Fixed Bug] - When picking footballers for the final stage of a national team tournament, the minimum squad size restriction for the club was still active. This occasionally prevented players from selecting the footballers they wanted.

This lets you make the game world more realistic or completely customise the national teams to your liking, creating your own unique fantasy world.
Footballers' names, tournament rules and other elements from modifications are not used in a single-player game. This information is only needed for hotseat games and the 2026 World Championship mode.

Other improvements
[Major bug fixed] - the arrows in the league table after a match showed an incorrect change in positions.
[Quality of Life] - when viewing a scheduled match, we added an Info button that shows additional match information: substitutions, goals, cards, etc.
[Quality of Life] - on the tables screen, we made the tab icons less blurry so they are easier to look at.
[Balance] - we changed the order of selecting home and away teams in the final stages of the Continental Championship and World Championship. In the first knockout match after the group stage, the first team is the group winner (for example, it will always be A1-B2, and not vice versa). In group matches and other knockout matches, the first team is the one ranked higher in the national team rankings.
[Balance] - we slightly increased the priority of Giftedness for the AI when selecting footballers for national teams.
[Balance] - we introduced some changes to the world simulation that will lead to a slight increase in the number of the following footballers:
FW with various skill combinations, apart from the standard Cannon Shot / Rainbow Feint
AM with a priority in Accuracy.
These changes will be quite minor. Additionally, they will gradually accumulate over many seasons.
[Texts] - added some fixes to the Polish localisation.
[Crash fixed] - in the last two DLCs, the game crashed upon launch in Polish.

[Loan] - Now, when you send a footballer out on loan during the summer transfer window, you can choose the loan duration: six months or a year. Important note: if the footballer has only six months left on their contract, you cannot send them on loan for a year.
[Loan] - Now, if you send a footballer on loan in August rather than July, you pay slightly less. Overall, we have slightly adjusted the costs of sending footballers out.
[Loan] - When you send your footballer out on loan, the receiving club uses an improved AI for squad selection (it uses the same AI as match viewing - this is a much slower algorithm, but it goes unnoticed given the small number of clubs using this AI). Thanks to this improvement, clubs will make smarter decisions about fielding your footballer if they make the starting lineup.
[Loan] - We added a "To Watchlist" button to the profile screen of a footballer you have brought in on loan, so you can easily add them to your watchlist.
[Match Viewing] - Previously, when watching matches across different leagues, your league's games could appear first depending on where you play. Because of this, by the time your match came around, you might have lost context. Now, when you schedule a large number of matches to watch, your league's matches are shown last.
[Match Viewing] - When you open the team comparison screen for a scheduled match, you will now see a "Standings" button that opens the tournament screen for the match you are watching. This lets you view the current positions of those teams.
[Statistics] - Previously, when viewing competitions in other countries, you could only see the leagues, but not cup tournaments. We have now added tabs for cup tournaments in other countries too.
[Text] - We made numerous improvements to the Korean localisation.
[Bugs] - In the national team editor, you could not save a modification if you altered the World Cup participants (for example, swapping Croatia for Italy).
[Crash Fixes] - In rare cases, the game crashed on the specialisation experience screen.
[Crash Fixes] - In very rare instances, you could corrupt your own mod by switching game versions. When this happened, clicking the "Copy Team" button crashed the game. The game now repairs team errors when you click "Copy" and then "Paste". If your game crashes when navigating to a team in a modification, simply click "Copy" / "Paste" for that team to resolve it.

[Balance] - On Hard difficulty, all prices increase by roughly 1.5 times. However, this meant that when other clubs offered to buy your footballers, they overpaid you compared to Normal difficulty. We have now reduced the potential overpayment multipliers for such transfer offers on Hard difficulty.
[Balance] - Previously, if a tournament group stage consisted of four groups with 2 teams advancing, the winners were matched up using the A1-C2, B1-D2, C1-A2, D1-B2 formula. We have changed the format to the following: A1-B2, C1-D2, B1-A2, D1-C2
[Quality of Life] - Now, while watching a match, you can hover your cursor over footballers to see their attributes (however, the game will not show dice rolls). Previously, the game showed no information other than the footballer's name.
[Quality of Life] - Previously, if you clicked the "Head-to-Head" button after selecting a random national team, it compared that team with your current club, which made no sense. Now, selecting a random national team compares it against the national team you manage. If you do not manage a national team yet, it compares it against the national team matching your manager's nationality.
[Quality of Life] - We have added buttons to the messages notifying you about national team qualification stages, allowing you to schedule to watch matches in these tournaments.
[Quality of Life] - Because the game now saves your search results, if you returned to this screen several months later, the footballers in the list remained exactly as they were when you left the screen. Now, the game updates the footballers' ages and attributes every time you enter the Search screen.
Bug Fixes
[Bug Fix] - We previously ensured that if a Team B footballer intercepted the ball during Team A's turn, they would not get injured if tackled unsuccessfully. However, it turned out there were still certain situations where footballers got injured in these cases. We have fixed these situations.
[Bug Fix] - The search screen looks through all footballers whose profiles are revealed. Profiles for footballers on other continents are hidden, so they were not included in the search. If you sent scouts to other continents, these footballers' profiles became revealed. However, the game still failed to search among these footballers.
[Bug Fix] - On the tournament's top footballers statistics screens, the nationality field displayed the countries of the clubs where the footballers played. It now correctly displays the footballers' nationality flags.
[Bug Fix] - If you entered the profile of your footballer who was out on loan, the "Add to Watchlist" button appeared. We have removed this button.
[Bug Fix] - If you scheduled to watch the Club World Cup final based on one continent (for example, Europe) and then switched to scheduling from another (for example, the Americas), the game failed to show that this match was already scheduled. It also allowed you to schedule it again.
[Bug Fix] - If you started creating a campaign and assigned mods with changed flags to certain countries, then returned to the main menu and launched the League Editor, these changed flags appeared in the default country list.

New Features
[New feature] - The game now remembers your formation and footballer placements before anyone was called up for international duty. Once the last footballer returns from the national team, the formation reverts to how it was prior to the call-ups.
[New feature] - On the match viewing planning screen, you can now select any team by clicking on it. A button will appear, allowing you to schedule all matches for this team in this tournament.
[New feature] - The game now remembers your search settings and the list of found footballers during a play session.
[New feature] - Previously, if you uploaded an image for a national team logo, you could not revert to the default flag. We have added a "Reset" button.
Bug Fixes
[Bug fixed] - Under certain circumstances, the player's team footballers lost their specialisation abilities. We have fixed this bug. In existing saves, the game will attempt to restore the lost abilities, though it might not always match the original setup exactly.

Thank you all for your comments, feedback, and bug reports! We closely read everything you write and try to improve the game based on your feedback. Today we are releasing an update focused on quality-of-life improvements:
[New Board Objectives] - Previously, new club development objectives could not be completed ahead of schedule. Now, if the club board becomes highly satisfied ahead of time while you are completing one of the new objectives (because you exceeded expectations), you will receive a reward and the board will issue a different objective. This makes the game more dynamic.
[Footballer Search] - On the Search screen, we have added a "Search only for footballers of own nationality" option. This comes in handy if you have too many foreign players in your squad.
[Footballer Search] - If any footballers on the Search screen are already on your Watchlist, a watchlist icon now appears next to them. This helps to avoid confusion and saves you from having to switch between screens as much.
[League Editor] - Copy and Paste buttons have been added to all kit editor screens. Besides the obvious use of copying kits from one mod and pasting them into another, this setup opens up another possibility. You can copy a kit, paste its code into a spreadsheet or text editor, and then copy and paste it from there to another location. This saves you a lot of time.
[League Editor] - We have long allowed for this: if you change a country's flag in a mod, that country is renamed after the mod. This lets you create a different country in place of an existing one. However, this feature was not applied when changing footballers' nationalities within the mod. We have now added support for the new country name with the modified flag to the nationality list when configuring footballers.
[Match Watching] - We have slightly tweaked the design of the drop-down lists on the screen for scheduling matches to watch. Now, if a tournament name takes up two lines, it looks neater.
[Bug Fixes] - The screen for scheduling matches to watch displayed two stages of the World Cup (qualifying and final) instead of one continuous tournament.
[Bug Fixes] - Under certain circumstances, when footballers returned to your club from national teams, the substitutes list glitched, only allowing 6 footballers on the bench instead of 7.
[Bug Fixes] - Under certain circumstances, you could receive a message stating that a footballer had returned from the national team, even though they had not actually been called up this time.
[Bug Fixes] - In Hotseat modes (including the World Championship 2026 mode), if a player was spectating a match instead of playing, clicking the Control button handed them control over both teams. The game assumed that two players wanted to continue playing against each other. Now, the game checks whether both teams belong to the player, or just one. If it is only one, control over that specific team is given to the player.
[Bug Fixes] - In Hotseat modes (including the World Championship 2026 mode), if you assigned an AI opponent to be controlled by a player, started the match, and then quit the match, the opponent reverted to being controlled by the AI.
[Crash Fixes] - Under certain circumstances, crashes could occur on the Footballer Search screen.

[Fixed Game Crash] - On laptops with dual graphics cards, the system would sometimes attempt to run the game on the weaker GPU. Since the game does not support integrated graphics cards, this caused crashes during matches on these laptops. We have added driver-level instructions so the system now selects the more powerful graphics card where available.
[Fixed Game Crash] - In certain years with specific numbers of teams in continental cups, the qualification match dates for the third continental cup clashed with other tournaments, causing the game to crash after these matches. We have shifted the dates of all continental group stages back by one week. National team matches have also been shifted, as all tournaments are interconnected.
[Fixed Game Crash] - The game crashed if a player viewed the results of previous cup matches in the calendar on a matchday they were actively spectating.

[Fixed game crash] - The game crashed in Asian localisations when trying to display certain Latin characters not supported by the font. The same applied in reverse - when certain Asian characters were not supported by fonts using Latin script.
[Fixed bug] - When you scheduled to watch a match between teams from another continent and entered the team line-up screen, the tooltip named the wrong continent when viewing the top 1, top 2, and top 3 footballers. For example, it called the Copa América the European Championship.
[Fixed bug] - Double-clicking on a footballer failed to work under certain circumstances.
