Following our recent update adding Steam Cloud support for Order of War, we were contacted by a member of the original development team regarding an issue with “out of memory” crashes on more modern operating systems.
We’re pleased to share that we’ve worked with them to develop a potential fix for this issue. To ensure a smooth rollout, this fix has been made available via an open Beta Branch, meaning users must manually opt in to access the updated version.
If you would like to opt into the Beta Branch, please do so via the Steam Client:
· Right-click Order of War in your library and select Properties
· Navigate to Game Versions & Betas
· Select the “memory_fix” option
The update will then be applied to your installation.
This fix has been tested with existing save data and is expected to be compatible. However, we cannot guarantee it will behave perfectly in all cases, which is why it is currently offered as an optional (opt-in) update rather than being rolled out to all users.

As part of our ongoing efforts to celebrate and enhance the Square Enix back catalogue, we’re reviewing a number of classic titles to see where we can introduce modern quality of life improvements. One key focus has been retrofitting Steam Cloud support, allowing players to seamlessly carry their progress across multiple devices – including PC and Steam Deck.
We recently rolled out Steam Cloud Support for Sleeping Dogs and Just Cause 3 with great success, and we’re pleased to share that this work has now been extended to Order of War, which is available today with full Steam Cloud support functionality.
While this update currently applies to a select number of titles, we’re continuing to explore opportunities to expand these enhancements across more of the Square Enix catalogue over time.
If you experience any issues with this update, please let us know via the Steam Community Hub, or reach out to Customer Support.

Gameplay changes
* 2 new maps "Proving Grounds" and "Massive Assault"

Pre-purchase Order of War™ now and you’ll get access to 2 x unique Off-map Heavy Artillery units, one from each of the 2 campaigns of the game.
Campaign One – U.S Artillery: M115 203mm howitzer
The M115 203 mm howitzer, also known as the M115 8 inch howitzer, was a towed howitzer used by the United States Army. Originally designated the 8 inch Howitzer M1, it was designed during the buildup to World War II as a counterpart to the German 17 cm K 18 gun. The M115 could be towed by the M35 Prime Mover gun tractor or a large truck.
Campaign Two – German Artillery: 17 cm Kanone 18
The 17 cm Kanone 18 in Mörserlafette (German: Heavy Howitzer Carriage) (17 cm K 18 in MrsLaf) was a German heavy gun used in the Second World War. It was intended to be employed at the Corps level in order to provide very long-range counterbattery support. Although it was technically an excellent weapon, it was expensive and difficult to maneuver, many were lost when their crew had either to abandon them or to risk capture by advancing allied troops.
