The DEFINITIVE EDITION has been updated! The big news is, as you can probably tell from the name of the update, the Linux edition! That’s right, you can now play The Way of Life: DEFINITIVE EDITION on your Linux computer!
We’ve been busy working on the Linux porting, but that’s not all: we fixed a few bugs that slipped past playtesting and updated the game Hub. For the full list of changes, read below.
Settings: the VSync options are now properly saved, and will not reset on game start;
Windowed mode: it should now work properly and on every resolution;
Sounds: added missing footsteps sound in a few locations;
Texts: fixed a few typos;
Tutorial: the symbols on the Library Keys are now displaying correctly when picked up;
Hub: the doors have been slightly altered to show which ones hold game levels inside. Indicators on each game door now show which level endings have been completed, so it’s easier to spot from the center of the hub which levels you haven’t played yet and how many endings you are missing.

The previous version was two years old: with the Spring Renovation Update this small fragment of the full game will look like the one in the DEFINITIVE EDITION. In addition you can now play the game in three new languages: French, German and Russian.
If you have played the Free Edition before and you are still waiting to play the DEFINITIVE EDITION, we suggest you play the game again and experience all the improvements made in the past two years.

This new edition of the game is a lot more than an update, it’s almost a totally new game with the same core concept! The three experiences of the Free Edition have been updated and expanded and 21 new levels have been added. The experiences are now part of an overarching story you can discover by playing and exploring all the levels. The Ending of the game will take into account every choice the player makes by playing through all the levels. The game is now available in 5 languages (EN ITA GER FR RUS) and cards and achievements have been added. Consider the Free Edition as a proof of concept. If you like the idea behind the game, go buy the DEFINITIVE EDITION, you will not regret it!

We’ve already talked about choices in Road to Release #1. We want to expand a little bit by talking about how choices impact the game ending. Every level is open from the beginning and replayable, but only the first choice the player take in a level will be recorded for the ending. So if you play through one level for the first time and you are dissatisfied with your choice, you can replay it any time you want, but the first choice you took is the one that’s going to influence the final ending.

Back in February 2017 The Way of Life Game Director Davide was invited by Microsoft to showcase the game at their GDC event in San Francisco. It was his first time flying. After a 16 hours flight, he swore never to set foot on a plane again.
