Greetings, Dungeon Monarchs.
We recently released update 0.2.07 for Vambrace: Dungeon Monarch. This update takes into account the feedback we've received from gamers who've purchased the game, as well as various improvement ideas, and addresses some of the negative feedback we've received. Below are the details of the update:
1. Finalised Save System: We've improved the save system so that you can now autosave in Freeplay mode and manually save in Story mode. We've also changed the game so that if you're in Story mode and Gameover, you can still go back to the previous stage and try again. This gives you the opportunity to try again rather than give up.
2. We finally added a Skip button to video cutscenes. This allows you to move on if you've seen the video again.
3. The first Simplified Chinese localization is now live. We've had some great responses to the game in China and requests for Chinese, so we're hoping to get more diverse gamers to come and give us feedback on the game. It's not perfect, but we'll try to get it checked by native speakers soon.
March is coming! We've got a lot of improvements and additions planned for the month of March that we think you'll enjoy. We'll be improving content for upgrades and building construction, as well as releasing the full story part 1. We'll also be releasing a separate tutorial for the mod changes, so stay tuned for that. Thank you.

Happy Monday, Dungeon Monarchs!
We know that a lot of you out there were fans of Vambrace: Cold Soul, and you are wondering how exactly Dungeon Monarch is going to feature the world and lore of the Vambrace universe. After all, it is a completely different style of game than Cold Soul.
But there are some things we can share without spoiling the story of Dungeon Monarch!
First of all, we return to the world of Ethera! You will realise soon into the journey that the eponymous Dungeon is, in fact, located on the continent of Edena. This is the continent of human culture in the world of the Vambrace. Humans from the continent of Edena are referred to as Edeni, of which you will meet plenty on your journey, and you may remember that Evelia Lyric (the heroine of Cold Soul) was Edeni.
On the continent of Edena there exists an expansive human empire, with many different free cities, each with their own goals and ambitions. You will both come up against, and ally with, characters from many of these cities and there will be some familiar faces from the Cold Souls world ... but we won’t say any more on that front, so that you can discover this for yourself.
Finally, if you played Cold Soul, you will be right at home among many familiar terms that are shared across the world of Ethera. All of the races you came to know and love are here: from Human to Sylvani Elf to Drow to Foxier to Dwarf, and even the alien race of the Archons.
... okay, okay! We will give you one tiny spoiler. You will once again meet the Guardians from the Alliance in Dungeon Monarch, but this time from a much different perspective than you may remember from Cold Soul. This time around they are dangerous, powerful, and are eager to crush the player’s Dungeon. Maybe you’re not going to be on the side you thought you were?

Greetings, Dungeon Monarchs!
There are many roguelike game genres out there. Extreme replayability and randomization, game situations that change every time you play again and again, and high difficulty levels that are not easily solved on the first try...
Without unlockables and specialized skill techniques over multiple play-throughs, it's hard to beat the game and see the ending. But this genre has the advantage of being enjoyable for a long time. If you don't get bored, of course.
But in a way, I personally don't like the idea of constant failure and replayability for "one step forward". All of our games have some sort of narrative structure to them, and the narrative has an introduction, it has an arc, and it requires the player to successfully navigate through what's come before in order to get to the conclusion.
So the roguelike genre is actually something we don't do very often (even though some of the team really enjoy it), and we've learned a lot from our previous game, Vambrace: Cold Soul.
The difficulty curve in this game is also designed to not encourage players to fail, and we're hoping that after a long battle, you'll achieve something in this dungeon. Of course, there's a lot of randomness that keeps the game from becoming repetitive, but it's entirely up to the player to try out different legion (synergy) combinations to keep the game fresh. (In other words, it's a game where we want the player's choices to enrich the game).
Regardless, it's a game with rogue-elements. However, I would like to point out to players that there is the main dish out of the genre, and it can be eaten multiple times, because the rouge-lite sauces are varied to make the main dish delicious.
That's it for the "roguelike" part of Vambrace: Dungeon Monarch! Next time I will tell you more about the Monarch. And if you like what you read (or have played with our demo), please do us a favour and click on "Follow" as well as "Add To Your Wishlist". That would really help us a lot. ❤️

Happy Friday, Dungeon Monarchs!
Teamfight Tactics (aka TFT) was my first exposure to Auto Battler as a genre, but its roots are known as DotA Auto Chess. I was personally vaguely aware of the genre and its mechanics, and never "really" played LoL (which is odd, considering my first company sponsored the LoL Champions League in Korea, and we used to use it to pay for lunch).
However, my brother Hyunho (aka KYNO), who is the game designer of this game, was an avid LoL player, as are a whole bunch of his friends. I was told I had to try TFT, so I played it, and I was introduced to the concept of "Synergy". Naturally, TFT got me hooked, and I was very interested in the unique ‘hands off but head on’ commander role.
In Vambrace: Dungeon Monarch, the army doesn't have to be told what to do by the Monarch (the player), but rather, they seek out and engage enemies on their own initiative. This part of the game is automatic. You, as a commander, either engage in an unfavourable battlefield or observe from afar, casting spells and creating environments. This doesn't mean that you can't direct your army. You need to deploy them in the right places to maximize "Synergy", which means that they become stronger when members of the same attribute are present on the field.
It's like a group of puppies barking and playing with each other more vigorously.
If your army has the Vampire attribute, it's important to keep a variety of Vampires on the field to maintain strength. If some of your cards have the ability to add a Vampire Synergy effect, that's even better! Keep in mind that placing multiple Vampires of a single unit doesn't increase Synergy - it needs to be a ‘bunch of different Vampires’ to amplify Vampire Synergy.
High Synergy scores add unique benefits of that army's attribute, so you'll want to use your judgement to keep your army alive with the high scores. It may seem like you're doing nothing, watching your soldiers move around automatically, but your commander-brain should be busy thinking!
That's it for the "auto battler" part of Vambrace: Dungeon Monarch! Next time I will tell you more about the "roguelite" aspect. And if you like what you read (or have played with our demo), please do us a favour and click on "Follow" as well as "Add To Your Wishlist". That would really help us a lot. ❤️

Greetings Dungeon Monarchs!
The topic of "deck-building" is a sensitive and difficult one to explain. Many games have already done great achievements with the genre, and those who play them have clear standards and definitions of what it is. There are variations on the theme, but the basic idea is that people want to have fun.
It's an important obligation of games in the "deck-building" genre to do this well, and to make sure that the gameplay behaviour is fun.
In this game, there are cards. There are two main types of cards: Regular Cards and The Monarch Cards. Regular Cards are randomly selected and appear at the bottom of the screen, defined as 'your Hand', every turn, and you can play them as long as you have energy. They can change the environment in the dungeon, trigger certain situations, or cast curses that affect enemies and allies.
The Monarch Cards can only be used when The Monarch, Dark Lord (You!), is on the field, and represent the magic, abilities, and skills used by the protagonist himself rather than environmental events. Both of these types of cards are randomly selected to come into your hand, so it's advantageous to have your main character on the field, preferably in command of the battlefield.
As you know, the game doesn't just rely on cards to fend off enemies, you also have to mobilise your army to stop them from invading, and each army has different abilities and may fight better in certain environments. This is why your cards need to be carefully selected: you can only choose a limited number of cards to take part in defensive battles, so you need to think about which cards will give your current army an advantage. If you've assembled a bunch of fire-powered troops, and the only thing they do is flood the dungeon, that's not going to help you in battle.
If you find yourself struggling to keep your enemies at bay, and you're not getting much out of your cards, you should consider "rebuilding" your current deck. Your deck composition can turn the tide of battle, which is why deckbuilding is such an important aspect of this game.
That's it for the "deck-building" part of Vambrace: Dungeon Monarch! Next time I will tell you more about the "auto battler" aspect. And if you like what you read (or have played with our demo), please do us a favour and click on "Follow" as well as "Add To Your Wishlist". That would really help us a lot. ❤️

Greetings adventurers!
It's about time for the third issue of our "Into the Dungeon" update series. This time we are dealing with the tasty genre mix of Vambrace: Dungeon Monarch.
When talking about a game, discussing its genre is the easiest way to describe it. Each genre has an iconic gameplay style and gives players a general idea of what to expect. Many gamers are able to figure out ‘what this game is about’ the moment they know its genre, and can interpret whether they'll like it or not.
However, when it comes to interpreting a game called Vambrace: Dungeon Monarch, these genre descriptions seem to need more explanation, because the genres that describe the game are unfamiliar to each other, and the combination is both exotic and unclear.
At its core, it is a "Deck-building" game. You have to create combinations of cards in a limited deck and utilise them to overcome challenges. The cards have different skills and effects, so you have to make sure you have the right mix of cards that will be useful in the current environment, and consider the best order and choice of cards that randomly pop up in your hand whenever a challenge arises.
This is where the genre of "Auto-Battler" comes in. The "environment" in which to prepare your cards is the legions of players currently residing in the dungeon. If you've created a dungeon full of vampires, the cards you need to play are those that favor the vampires. Conversely, if you've created a dungeon environment full of undead, you'll need to choose cards that favor the dead and endanger the living.
The challenge is that all of the unwanted visitors to your dungeon have been told by the outside world that they are heroes. Some of them may be unremarkable adventurers or thieves, but most of them are. They may be strong against certain factions, or infinitely weak in certain environments. They don't appear in any particular order, and your awesome Dark Legion may find itself in an unexpected crisis.
This is where cards come into play. If your army is a moving barrier to defend your dungeon, cards can be a sharp spear to incapacitate your enemies.
However, your dungeon has very few resources for all this brilliant strategy. The real owner of the dungeon is sealed away and asleep, and you, as regent, are barely keeping it fed. You can't choose all of the new cards or money-making opportunities that pop up from time to time, so you're forced to make one or two good choices and hope for the best. These different opportunities add to the roguelike aspect of the game.
Defending this dungeon and keeping the enemies at bay is a constant siege, which also leans towards the "Defence" genre. You'll need to make good use of the Monarch, the Dark Regent, who acts as your builder, as he'll be travelling around the dungeon and taking out enemies that your walls can't keep out.
The combination of genres may sound and look tricky, but once you get into it, you'll realize that it's not too difficult. There are familiar gameplay elements throughout, so don't be afraid to take on the challenge. The game has a high learning curve, but you'll enjoy it and before you know it, you'll be a notoriously powerful DARK LORD.
