HOTFIX for Car Dreams
Hi! We got a few reports about the Dreams of Flying not loading properly when entering the Special from the Elevator: the clouds would not disappear and the area would be locked. Before the workaround just was "exit to the Home and then re-enter the dream" but this is a patch so

Meet the Devs (Return)
August 6th - September 2nd
Our perfect replication of the Triband office in the game is still live! Play levels made by us in the level creator, learn some tips and tricks on what makes a cool level when you make them yourselves 🔨 And of course explore to find all our secret little references.
Dreams of Flying
August 19th - September 16th
It’s been a year since we started the first “Dreams” Specials! Can you believe? Or, uh, dream? 🤔
Well, we took a look at that very first one we did and decided it needed a make-over! So jump back into WHAT THE CAR? and try brand new levels made in the level creator - run, fly and soar through the beautiful cloudy landscape!
It's also populated with a bunch of weirdos (as are my dreams) and some secrets 🤫
In the Special, you play levels to wake up the sleepy sheep. 😴 Complete all the levels to unlock the sticker!
Wakey wakey... Time to go flying!

PATCH NOTES
Terrain is generated at runtime.
Mandatory player-made levels can no longer be unpublished.
Can get crowns on player-made level pads by beating any level that uses that template/Car form
Special Elevator handles offline state better. This elevator does not need to be connected to internet 👍🏽

It's a good thing you can't smell through screens! Though we've really tried to make our STINKEST update yet, you'll just have to explore it for yourself. Welcome to the smelliest dream you've ever had! It also has plenty of fart jokes. Because of course. We just can't keep it in.

Fixed a bug preventing to complete the level “Nom Nom” in Episode 9 under certain conditions

These are accumulative for updates since October! Sneaky sneaky.
Changes
Added a ‘Warp to Win’ feature allowing players to skip levels they are struggling with. If you fail enough times on a non-skull Level, this'll appear!
10 fails on normal levels
30 fails on skull levels (so you can use it there too. Though your reasons are your own, Skull Levels have always been optional 👀)
Remix templates unlock when playing featured player-made levels
Added achievements for Car-mong Us episode

CHANGES
Episode / Specials Rework
"Car-mong Us" is moved from the Specials Elevator to the Episodes Elevator, making it Episode 10 and playable year round!
"License to Car" special updated and moved to sit permanently as a (optional) tutorial for the Level Creator
Big upgrade to the Level Creator Terminal
Level tabs now feature icons and infinite scrolling (up to 500 levels each)
New level overview with grid view, larger previews, and difficulty tags to surface great levels
Redesigned Creator palette selection, highlighting each unique car
Published levels moved to their own tab with vanity stats included
Added a bear that provides useful hints for getting your level featured (Daily and Community room)

New fancy dress-up! The levels are the same, but we've spiffed the area a bit. What do you think?
COMMUNITY FEATURES
This update is especially for those of you who like competing on leaderboards and shaving seconds off of your best time or exploring new content to play!
GHOST REPLAY
If you go into Settings and scroll down to Hidden Features, there are now three new options. You can enable that to see your own best time in all levels so you can optimize your racing strategies.
TIMER
In addition to that, you can also toggle Show Timer to get a timer at the top of the screen.
PLAYER-MADE LEVEL RANKINGS
From now on, player made levels will have a new fancy lil icon attached to it. They range from Easy, Normal, Spicy, Hard, Hardest and Insane. The player made levels that will be presented to you in Play Next will change according to how often you die on a level.
THE DAILY LEVEL
will now be featured in Rupert the Mailbox (found in your Home area), so that when you load up the game you can just play that right away!
Also, PSA: If you're looking for the Among Us content, bear with us (heh) as its being relocated from Specials ⏩ Episode
SEPTEMBER CONTENT
Remember that you can check in every week for a new special in the elevator. This month we have the very popular 'CAR IS GLASS' / Handle with Car update coming up!

CAR DREAMS
Introducing bi-weekly Dreams !
Dreams are special content areas featuring player made levels - carefully selected by us to create a lovely theme. The first one is Friends 🐻🐮🐑
There's an all new Dream area to explore, a little narrative and a bunch of silly little goobers.
A new dream is available every 14 days (each dream runs 14 days, so they replace each other).
This is going to be a new series, so please send or submit levels (here or on Discord or by pigeon) and give YOUR suggestion to the next CAR dream! ✨🐑🌟 It can be levels you made, it can be levels you loved. Let's see what people can make!
Changes and fixes
● The "Specials" elevator now displays new content every week on Thursdays
The content alternates between being regular specials with themed and custom content, and dreams which have curated levels around a new "dream theme" every time
Specials and dreams are now only available to the player for two weeks, after which they "time out" and are replaced by another
All dreams and specials will come back at some future point in the content rotation
● Redesign of the card collection album ("book") where players track completion
Each page compressed in size to show more entries at the same time
Upon completion of a "special", players will receive a "100%" stamp on the corresponding page in the book
For the bi-weekly dreams, the player can now collect a "sticker" which shows on the corresponding page in the book

You unlock the colors by completing the relevant Special Challenge, which you access from the Specials Elevator, next to the main campaign. Some are Daily Levels, some are Seasonal - all are weird.
Don't be blue! Be pink! Or red! Or Halloween!
And another awesome thing: From now on, there's a different special in the elevator every 14 days. Make sure you come back and check in every Thursday!
(Note: heads up - there is now a counter on the Specials that shows how long they will be live, since they will be locked after that! So if you want to snag all the fancy skins in one swoop, or 100% everything there is out so far, now would be the time to do it!)

In the newest Car-mong Us update, you'll find:

new overworld map with Fungle Theme!
hand-picked player made levels
little secrets and silly dialogue (Horrifying worm-like level we came across in our player-level hunt! This is apparently what happens when you give players free will) ⚒ CHANGES & FIXES ⚒ ● Changed the "DAILY LEVEL" to show hand-picked player made levels! So now YOUR level might get featured as the daily level! Yes, this does mean the previous levels there are removed from the game & the Ghost Car... Let us know in the comments what you think of this change! Also also, definitely share your levels here or on Discord in #car-share-your-level and we might consider them for the roster!!! 🛠 CHANGES AND FIXES SUMMARY 🛠

OVERWORLD

Fix for not being able to complete 'The Gang's All Here' achievement. This means that current live users who have 7/8 characters will get the achievement next time they appear in the home hub.
Fuse from the Frogger level in the swamp finishes in the middle of nowhere
Fixed glitching Dialogue Alert Icon
Community Level Bug in License to Car / Removed the extra crown pad in the book
Certain cheering bears appear green when you unlocked them after the elevator. They are a normal bear-brown now.
New elevator: Car got tossed too far when exiting the elevator under certain conditions. Now it gets tossed a normal amount.
New elevator: Fixed overlapping text in certain languages
Ice week 2024: Sign at elevator had overflowing text in a certain language
Swamp skull level: Got boosted the wrong place after skull level.
Cable from generator was clipping under the ground in every overworld
Hallo-wheels Hunt: removed Z fighting on the ground at the elevator
Fixed issues with the duck displayed on a screen in the ... goose... mini-game found in Episode 5: DRIVING
LEVELS

In CAR NEEDS AN ICEBREAKER the button was for 'HONK' but the action was jumping - now it matches!
Certain bike stages have low FPS and stutters on Steam Deck; this should be adjusted now!
JUMP THE ROPE level: trees were blocking the view of the car in the end shot. Can't mess up the money shot!
The wire keeping the big cranes in CAR WITH LARGE LEGS onboarding did not rotate with the crane itself. Rotate enabled.
A couple of things were floating in the last onboarding level. Get dun.
Ice week 2024: Players were able to get stuck in a gap in the stage CAR NEEDS AN ICEBREAKER - patched this.
Ice week 2024: Certain intro words were not pronounced correctly

HOW TO MAKE CUSTOM THUMBNAILS:

Make your level
When selecting the name with the dial, choose the thumbnail button in the top right
Take a picture from the level!
Tip: Move the camera angle for more fun perspectives! 🦅
Also tip: If you create a little area that is separate from the level, you can make some real funky patterns with the items... 🎨

Hot Fix Patches
There was a misalignment between Steam achievements in Episode 1 that should be patched now! Please, let us know in the Community Posts or on Discord if anything pops up that makes you go 'HMM' and not in the fun weird gameplay but in broken gameplay way.

Updated Content / Quality of Life changes
CHANGES TO TUTORIAL AND EPISODE 1
The tutorial levels are now:

JUST A NORMAL CAR?
CAR WITH LEGS
CAR WITH TOO MANY LEGS
CAR WITH JUMPS
CAR WITH VERY LARGE LEGS
BEAR WITH ME
Each of these have gotten a new make-over visually and we tweaked the controllers.

There’s a new transition scene between tutorial and the first episode ⭐
Certain levels have been removed from Episode 1 and integrated into the Tutorial instead
New decorative scenarios and dialogue added to the surroundings in Episode 1
Changes to the navigation of Episode 1
New UI for dialogues alert (see bottom gif for example)
Part of this is also the transition between the episodes! Now, instead of getting a bear on top of CAR and this bear unlocking the computer to the next episode, it does so right away, with the new Episode Elevator!
THE ELEVATOR

New ‘Episode Elevator’ - a much quicker way of navigating between episodes. Enter the Elevator and scroll to select the Episodes as they unlock!
New Hypezones for each Episode, now in the main room
It also gives an overview of which levels you have completed and what kind of crown you got in the Episodes 👑
Edit: Yes, this means some of the secrets of the dungeon travel has been moved... Time to find the new spots 👀
Issues fixed

Did you have trouble publishing a level?
You should be able to let loose your creations into the world now! (Please let us know if this is not the case after downloading the update!)
The was a paint splatter drawing issue in the Party Episode - you should be able to draw as many… bananas… as you want now!
Fix to the navigation in Episode 3: WORKING, where certain spawn points would lock you if you jumped off the train.
Fix to make it easier getting to the SKULL LEVELS in Episode 3: WORKING via the train
Fix on a paper trail from a certain prop in A-maze-ing Weekend Event
Fix Ghost Trail in Hallo-wheels Event
Fix with HONKING mechanic in certain dialogue scenes
Fix of Level UI being stuck after save resets
Fix with names of Remix Levels on top of leaderboards
Fix the dial size on episode selection
New bear dialogue at the end of the Party Episode
Fix bug where elevator bear would be invisible in unlock sequence
Fix to remove conveyor belt
Fix to UI of pages in the Card Book
Fixed shiny material (it’s NOT shiiineeyy ✨)
Removed bananas from Screen Falling animation
Checked cell overload before releasing a prop from a Move Car in the Level Maker
Moved the Guide Bear position
Fix to animator for bear on the horsespring Jump Hypezone
Fixed error for build tests
Fixed bug where remix pads would show as completed with the same crown as their original level, even if player had not played any remix
Added CAR WITH LARGE LEGS palette in Episode 1
