It's been a while. A few weeks ago I was contacted by the youtuber JeromeACE with a video idea in which there would be no survivors but nobody would know it. So I worked on a secret option to play a match with all survivors! He made a video on it and it's a fun watch so check it out.
My plan was to be done with updates for this game. However, since I had done the work for the video I figured hey, I might as well just polish it up into a real update for everyone to play. And then I did. It's not a huge update but it offers some fun new rules and I gave it a fancy name because why not.
Patch Notes:
New Auto-Sabotage rule.
With this rule enabled the stockpile, totems, and campfire will be automatically sabotaged.
This will happen based on a random chance, players in the area, contributors and things like that.
The automatic sabotages are meant to make it seem like they could be done by a player. So this setting is best used with the other new random saboteurs rule.
New random saboteurs rule.
With this setting enabled a the number of saboteurs each round will be random between 0-2 and secret.
This adds an extra layer of uncertainty to every match. Who could the saboteur be? How many are there? Are there really any at all!?
If 0 saboteurs is chosen the auto-sabotage rule will be enabled.
Can now set the number of saboteurs to 0.
If you want to troll your friends or just play in some kinda PvE setup, now you can!
If set to 0 the night time shrine will balance itself as if there were 1 or 2 saboteurs alive based on the number of players in the game.

This update brings a new DLC with an all new map, The Mountain! Complete with 4 forage locations, 20+ new cards and an all new unique warmth system. Priced at 5.99 USD, this map is meant to be a harder survival experience, so working together and communicating is key! I had a lot of fun making this DLC, and I hope you enjoy playing it. As with the Island Curse DLC only the host needs to own The Mountain to play on it. However, the DLC does also include 3 new skins to use, and you will need to own it to use them.

I would also like to say a big thank you to everyone who has played the game thus far. (And thanks for 200 steam reviews!). Working on this game has been a lot of fun and it has been super cool to see people play, leave reviews, make videos, and join in community play events. The game reached a lot more people than I thought it would with just over 40,000 lifetime unique users and hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube. So again thank you <3. That all being said, this will be the last major update for Betrayal Beach. (There may be a few more smaller patches with fixes and tweaks though). I originally only intended to work on it for another 2 months after release but 7 months later here we are. But stay tuned! I'm in the early prototyping phase of my next project and will be announcing it here when It's ready.
There is also now a steam bundle including all 3 DLC for 10% off! Tip for steam bundles: if you already own the other two DLC then buying the bundle will just apply the 10% discount to The Mountain DLC.

The Mountain Map

Has 4 forage locations: The Cave, Mountainside, Valley and Lake.
New resource Clay. Similar to plants, stone and wood. Used for night events and some crafting.
New resource Kindling. Used for restoring warmth at the campfire.
More new unique cards waiting to be discovered.
New cards, craftables, events, hazards and more!
3 new skins.
2 new achievements.
Warmth

Only on The Mountain Map
Various hazards, night events, or failing to add kindling to the new fire may reduce your warmth.
Lower warmth will reduce your maximum health, freezing over up to 3 slots.
Raising your warmth back up via adding kindling to the fire or a few special cards will return your max health.
When a health slot is frozen if it was full that health will be stored, and can be restored once warmth returns.
Misc Other

New map tab in game settings used to change what map will be played on.
New 'Useful' card tag, this will count as any resource when added to the stockpile.
Survivor ghosts will now get a 'Useful' card instead of 1 of each resource.
New guidebook page on warmth.
Tabs to quickly swap to rules or roles in guidebook.
Various tweaks, fixes and small details.

Patch Notes

New Roles

Politician: (Survivor) Their vote counts for 2 in both stages of exile vote.
Killer: (Saboteur) May use their ability to get a new Blowgun card. This card can be played on another player to kill them. When played it will reveal the killer with red smoke particle effects that last a few seconds. So make sure no one spots you!
New roles have achievements and cosmetics.
New Game Settings

Lockbox may spawn toggle. Turns on or off the Lockbox with the Biometric scanner and medkit.
Gun Case may spawn toggle. Turns on or off the new Gun Case object. Works similarly to the lockbox but inside is a Gun card (same as Marshal ability) when 5 or more players are alive, or a Small Gun with less. The Small Gun is similar to the normal Gun card but does only 1 damage instead of 4.
Ritual Site may spawn toggle. Turns on or off the new Ritual Site object. Has a low chance to spawn starting from the second day. Saboteurs may spend 1 suffering point to activate the Ritual Site. Once Activated the Saboteur shrine will gain 1 extra level that night.
Other Tweaks and Fixes

Role cards from abilities can no longer be lost to hazards. (No more squirrels stealing your crowbar!)
Fixed a bug causing Limited Time Objects (Cache, Lockbox etc.) to stay around longer than they should.

Version 1.4.0 brings the Island's Curse DLC among several tweaks and fixes. The DLC is now available for 4.99$ and comes with 7 roles and 9 player skins. To use the new DLC roles in game the host must own the DLC. Only the host needs to own it, so other players can enjoy the new roles without having to purchase it as well. Now onto the patch notes.
Patch Notes

Island's Curse.

Includes 9 new player skins.
Includes the following 7 roles:
Engineer (Survivor) - Gets a 'Frequency Blocker' card that can be played on totems or caches to prevent saboteurs from using them.
Investigator (Survivor) - Gain a 'Hidden Camera' card that can be played on another player to be notified each time they move to a new location.
Leader (Survivor) - When the Leader is in the game they are publicly marked and are the only player who is allowed to vote for exile.
Cursed (Survivor) - When the Cursed player dies the Saboteur shrine will be set to max level that night instead of resetting to first.
Cannibal (Saboteur) - The Cannibal won't gain any benefit from normal food or healing cards. Each day they may use a 'Bite' card to steal a hunger from another player. Additionally whenever a player dies they will get a 'Flesh' card that they can eat or use to poison the campfire.
Trapper (Saboteur) - Gets a 'Trap' card which may be played at a forage location to trap it. The next player to forage there will be hit with the trap and take a point of damage.
Omen (Saboteur) - Gain a 'Ritual Bones' card which can be played at a forage location to make it treacherous the next day. While treacherous that location's danger level will increase much faster with each forage.
Each new achievement has an associated 'Win' achievement that awards a new seat decoration. You do not need to own the DLC to earn these achievements.
Hotkeys!

Hotkeys for each tab button. (J - Event), (M - Map), (K - Craft), (L - Exile), (N - Notebook), (H - Guidebook).
Hotkeys for emotes. (1-6).
Miscellaneous.

Rulebook role entries now give a summary of the roles ability.
Can now mark names with specific role icons in the notebook.
Role ability button UI made a little more clear and has a '?' button that can be hovered to see ability description and cooldown.
Notifications sent in text chat now play a distinct sound.
Skin entries in customize menu now have different color borders based on DLC required.
Notification icon is displayed after earning a new seat cosmetic.
End game dead and die to hazard seat material cosmetics changed (they were too similar).
Guidebook tab no longer minimizes at night.
Fixed all 'Win' achievements not actually requiring you to win the game.
Fixed the way roles were picked making it so 'Guaranteed' roles weren't always guaranteed.
Various other small tweaks and fixes.

The Island is getting a little more crowded with support for up to 8 players in a match. Experience the chaos of arguing about who took the food with 7 other people! 7-8 Player Support!

You can now make lobbies with up to 8 players.
Some locations and UI elements have been tweaked to fit more players.
Achievements and Seat Cosmetics.

16 steam achievements have been added.
All seat cosmetics are locked. They can be earned through Achievements!
Two types of seat cosmetic: Styles and Decorations.
Seat cosmetics can be set in a new tab in the customize menu.
Ghost Tweaks.

Living players can no longer see dead player ghosts.
New game setting that lets living players see ghosts. (In case you preferred the way it was).
Players will now ragdoll whenever and wherever they die.

Oh, and the DLC with more roles and cosmetics is still in the works and will be releasing in a couple weeks.
Patch Notes

New Saboteur ability: See how many players are at each location on your map.
5 Roles:

Survivor, Tracker: See how many players are at each location on your map.
Survivor, Thief: Use your ability (3 day cooldown) to get a crowbar, which can be used to open saboteur caches.
Survivor, Marshal: After day 4, use your ability to get a gun, which can be used to kill any player.
Saboteur, Shade: Use your ability (3 day cooldown) to turn yourself and all other players into dark spirits. A Dark Spirit's identity is hidden, and they cannot speak. Useable only during the morning, effect lasts one phase.
Saboteur, Trickster: Use your ability (2 day cd) to get one of three cards. A snake that will poison food in the campfire and add 2 portions. Tar, which when added to the stockpile, will hide the contributor list. And a card that will turn a single player into a Dark Spirit for the phase.

Each role has 4 levels that can be set.
Wont show.
Uncommon (30% chance to appear).
Common (70% chance to appear).
Guaranteed.
