In this hotfix, we’re continuing to clean up the small bugs that remained after the major update, and we’ve also prepared a little surprise for lucky Steam Deck owners. As always, you can find the details below.
New Font Sizes. As per your requests, these have been added to improve your experience playing on Steam Deck!
Fixed a crash in the Chinese localization that could occur when hovering over unit traits.
Fixed an issue that could cause the cursor icon to become stuck for several seconds during battles.
Fixed an issue in the mod loader where markup brackets used for multiline text could appear in a mod's description.
These changes, including the new fonts, will also be used in updates for Armoured Princess. In the future, as we’d like to earn that sweet sweet Steam Deck compatibility checkmark, and these are our first steps toward that goal.
So, we're not saying goodbye just yet!

Today we have good news and even better news.
The good news is - we are releasing the final hotfix for the Beta branch of the game!
You can take a look at all the changes at the end of this post. This one is all about the last bits and pieces. We went through all of your comments in regards to achievements, fixed how they unlock and behave, and gave the UI a final polish where we could.
Even better news - with this hotfix, we are ready to release all of those changes to the main branch of the game! But before doing this, we want to have a final check with you guys.
How should the main branch look going forward? Would you prefer the game to stay exactly as it is right now - untouched, the way you remember it?
Or should the updated version become the default, without the need to opt into the beta branch?
We know both options matter for different reasons, so we’d really like to hear what you think.

And now, to the promised changelog of the final.02.final5 hotfix!
Achievements
The check the damage for the “Onepunchman” achievement now accounts for all additional modifiers, buffs and debuffs.
The accuracy of threshold detection for awarding “Bookworm”, “The Mage Who Lived”, “Not Quite A God”, “Bachelor”, “Master”, “Mr. Doctor”, “Shepherd”, “Commander”, “Scourge of God” and “God of war” achievements have been improved.
Improved detection of visiting the Ultrax location.
Added a configuration file that allows configuring save scanning on game startup for unawarded achievements. It contains a parameter setf ~bg_scan X, where a value of 1 enables this feature, and a value of 0 disables it. This configuration file will be located in the game folder.
Visuals & QoL
For 16:9 aspect ratio resolutions, the progress bar on the loading screen has been fixed.
Fixed the display of large amounts of gold, mana, and rage on the save/load screen.
The font size for the tooltip displaying the in-game date and time has been increased.
Fixed display of some UI elements on the Records screen. Also the old "fantasy" font has been restored.
For 16:9 aspect ratio resolutions, display of long enemy names in combat has been fixed.
Fixed display of the "Equipment" label in shops that are not cities or castles.
For 16:9 aspect ratio and ultrawide resolutions, an issue has been fixed, where the coin icon displayed in prices in cities and castles could disappear when prices were too high (long numbers).
Fixed clipping of the lower part of unit counters in the garrison for ultrawide resolutions.
Fixed the position of the interaction button for the Casket of Rage for ultrawide resolutions in combat.
The level-up window for the Spirits of Rage has been enlarged.
For the 1366x768 resolution, a small gap at the bottom of the screen between the edge and the UI elements has been fixed.
The Defeat screen has been redesigned to look more visually appealing and more convenient.
For ultrawide resolutions, the visuals of the Victory screen and New Game screen have been improved by making some UI layout adjustments.
For the 1920x1200 resolution, an issue where text overflowed its designated area (the mage class description) on the New Game screen has been fixed.

Recently, we rolled out achievements to the beta branch. And as always with new features, a few things didn’t go exactly as planned on the first try. That’s what the beta is for, though, and we really appreciate all the feedback you’ve been sharing.
Today we’re releasing a patch that addresses those issues, with fixes for achievement-related bugs as well as a few general improvements across the game.
We’ve also noticed some questions coming up quite often, so we’ve put together answers to the most common ones at the end of this post.
List of changes for achievements:
Fixed an issue where achievements for reaching mana threshold values could be awarded even when the actual requirements had not been met.
Fixed an issue where the achievement for visiting Kordar could be awarded when visiting a cave in Greenwort.
Fixed an issue where the achievement for visiting Ultrax could be awarded when entering a special location through the whale event.
Fixed an issue where completing the game on a higher difficulty did not grant the achievements for completing it on lower difficulty levels.
Fixed an issue where the "Lucky Lucky" achievement could be awarded upon receiving maps, without actually killing the corresponding character. The check now works more accurately.
For the "Ghost Buster" achievement, the route where the player first talks to the ghost, then switches sides to Norzh, and later resolves the conflict peacefully is now also counted.
Fixed an issue where, under certain circumstances, the "Stolen Heart" achievement might not be awarded upon marrying Mirabella.
* For the "Onepunchman" achievement, the required damage threshold has been increased from 1.000 to 10.000.
* Added save file scanning on game startup. If existing save files contain already completed achievement conditions, those achievements will now be granted automatically.
List of general changes:
Fixed a brief freeze when opening the character screen for the first time.
Fixed stability issues that could in some cases occur when interacting with runes.
Q&A
Q: Can achievements be unlocked from old save files?
A: Some of them - yes, but not all.
Achievements for completing the game under certain conditions can be obtained if you load a save made before the ending and go through the final dialogue.
Achievements for visiting locations are only granted at the exact moment you enter the corresponding location.
Q: Do achievements work with mods?
A: They may work, but this is not guaranteed.
The more mod changes the game’s scripts and logic, the higher the chance that the achievement system may not function correctly. At the same time, the mods themselves should generally continue to work regardless of the achievement system.
Q: Will achievements earned during testing be kept once the update hits the main branch?
A: Yes. All achievements unlocked in the test version will remain with players after the full release of the achievement system.

We continue to work on the upcoming update, which is currently in the beta branch. Your feedback plays a crucial role in this process. It helps us identify all the issues and shortcomings that need to be fixed before the final release of the update.
Based on your comments, we have prepared today’s patch for the beta version of the game, which includes:
Improved several graphical elements, including the main menu background, to ensure correct display when playing on ultra‑wide screen resolutions.
Fixed the Defeat screen. Its appearance may still vary depending on the resolution, but the “Load” and “Continue” buttons now always appear and are available to click.
For the following resolutions: 1280×1024, 1680×1050, 1920×1080, 2560×1080, 3440×1440, and 3840×1600, it is now possible to select a save file with the mouse on the Defeat screen. For other resolutions, mouse selection is not guaranteed, but selection via keyboard arrow keys with confirmation using Enter is always available.
Fixed the Victory screen for ultra‑wide resolutions. The “Continue” button now always appears and is clickable.
Fixed minor black bars on the loading screen at 1366×768 resolution.
Adjusted the position of the Rage Casket icon in combat for resolutions with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Fixed incorrect troop counter display in the garrison for 16:9 aspect ratio resolutions.
In the meantime, we continue to monitor your comments and will keep improving the new version of the game before its final release!

Over the past months, we’ve been hearing more and more requests from the community to give King’s Bounty a bit of a modernization pass. Just enough to feel more at home in 2026. So… we’ve decided to take our first steps in that direction.
That said, King’s Bounty: The Legend is not exactly a young game anymore, to put it lightly. There are serious technical limitations, and making meaningful improvements sometimes requires a hefty bit of magic, prayer and straight up luck.

Still, within those boundaries, we want to do our best to move the game forward.
Now, if you opt in to the Beta Branch of the game, you will be able to play a new version that includes:
Removed black side bars when playing in 16:9 resolutions. Proper modern standards like 1920×1080 are now fully supported.
Improved UI readability, with several interface elements and fonts increased in size. Easier on the eyes, especially on larger screens.
Doubled the maximum zoom-out distance. More battlefield, more context. The more, the merrier!
To access the Open Beta branch, head to your Steam Library, right-click Kings's Bounty: Legends, left-click Properties, left-click Game Versions & Betas and from the drop-down menu select the option "update_beta". Your Steam client will then download the Update.
For now, we’ll keep a close eye on how this version behaves on all kinds of PC setups and see how you guys feel about these changes. Then we’ll figure out where it makes sense to go next.
That could mean more small improvements over time, a look at Steam Deck compatibility, and, if things line up, maybe even achievements.
So don’t be shy, try it out, and tell us what you think!
