During their very own live event called i3 Indie Expo, INSTINCT3—one of the biggest German influencer marketing agencies—announced their publishing partnership with us and Assemble Entertainment.

This fantastic collaboration means that Asgard's Fall will be even bigger and better than before!

This directly brings us to the next point on the agenda: there's a new demo available! It’s free for everyone to join the battlefields of Asgard’s Fall and includes plenty of new content as well as updated features.

• A fateful decision: Choose between two playable characters; the Warrior and the Huntress
• The journey to the Nine Realms: Explore the realms of Midgard and Muspelheim
• A vide variety of Abilities: Unlock and master a total of 30 unique abillities
• The Secret of Mixed Abilities: Reveal the synergetic effect of 5 Mixed Abilities
• Behold the Web of Wyrd: Weave a total of 20 knots into your Web to enhance your power and shape your fate
• The Remnants of War: Unlock more than 28 warpaint runes, and place them into an inventory management system with savvy to further strengthen your character.
• The difficulty of Sacrifice: Use the altar of Blood Sacrifice to further modify your run by cranking up the difficulty.

Our second playtest has just gone LIVE! Once again, it's an open playtest with no restrictions—everyone can join. We would be incredibly happy if you chose to be part of it.

• Warpaint: An all-new meta progression system.

• Pigments: A new currency can now be gathered and used to unlock patterns within the Warpaint system.
• Jotunheim: Set foot on the frozen plains of Jotunheim and face new enemies, including a challenging boss mob.

• Hero Leveling: Adjusted the way a Hero/Heroine gains levels.
• Immolation Aura: Added a new skill to send your foes straight to Hel—let them burn.

• Enemy AI: Reworked the behaviour of enemies.
• Ability Hit System: We’ve altered the way enemies take damage from abilities. Previously, enemies were immune to damage when hit in quick succession.
• Seidr Points: Points for the character skill trees no longer drop from bosses. Instead, they are gained by leveling up as part of the new Hero Leveling mechanic.

We know it’s been a while since we last shared some news, but we wanted to make sure we had something cool to share instead of just teasing you with snippets. So, here we are!

Another playtest is happening VERY soon (did I hear next week, perhaps?). And the good news is you can already sign up to get notified as soon as it goes live!

• Warpaint: An all-new meta progression system.

• Pigments: A new currency can now be gathered and used to unlock patterns within the Warpaint system.
• Jotunheim: Set foot on the frozen plains of Jotunheim and face new enemies, including a challenging boss mob.

• Blood Sacrifice: A new difficulty settings mechanic is now available for you to test.
• Hero Leveling: Adjusted the way a Hero/Heroine gains levels.

• Enemy AI: Reworked the behaviour of enemies.
• Ability Hit System: We’ve altered the way enemies take damage from abilities. Previously, enemies were immune to damage when hit in quick succession.

Once again, we have to start this announcement with a BIG thank you. More than 5,000 players chose to participate in our playtest, which is overwhelming for us. We've received so much feedback that is helping us shape this diamond. Also, to everyone who swung by at gamescom: Thank you as well! It was unbelievably exciting to witness you (the heroes) playing our game live. The feedback was tremendous.

Let's get straight to the point: the Playtest ends this Sunday, September 8!

With that being said, you still have around 3 days left to unleash your powers against Asgard's henchmen. But of course, we wouldn't be ourselves if we didn’t share a few updates on what's to come in the future. You'll be able to try some of this during upcoming playtests. Yes, you heard right—there will likely be at least one more playtest, if not more.

During the playtest and gamescom, we received a lot of feedback regarding the available progression mechanics and systems. We felt the same way, and we're already working on a new, additional meta-progression mechanic: Codename 'Warpaint.

So much about the visual goodie, here's some more information about our plans for Asgard's Fall (the stuff we're currently working on):

• New meta progression mechanic ('Warpaint')
• More Abilities
• Ability Evolutions (Codename "Ability Melting/Forging"
• At least one new character (with the option to have more; we've got so many ideas)
• Additional World Activities
• New collectable resources
• All Nine Realms available
• Proper Difficulty Systems
• Compendium
• Twitch Integration (we'd love to have this, currently checking doability)

We can't wait for you to jump into the next playtest! But before that happens, we need some time to implement new features and integrate your feedback into the gameplay. We'll announce the next playtest as soon as possible and keep you updated on our progress right here on Steam and our Discord.

Thank you for your patience, it's been a while. But, we're pretty sure the wait was worth it ... because we've been cooking something for you!

There are two major points we'd like to address today, so let's get started.

As we've already mentioned before, we've been busy recreating the 1.0 (Origins) version of the game in a new engine. The game is now running smoothly with Game Maker instead of Unity; even though there've been some challenges, we're extremely happy with the current build. Hopefully, you'll like it as much. (Balancing issues aside ːsteamhappyː - feeling overpowered yet?)

The thing is, there's probably just bits of the initial Origins DNA left, because the game has changed immensely. Even Origins veterans will probably think it's a different game they're playing. We can't wait to hear your thoughts and feedback!

So, let's talk some of the biggest changes we've made:

Yes, you got that right! tl;dr: The Playtest will start on August 19 already. (Exact time TBD; you'll notice.)

Since your feedback is invaluable and plays a vital role during the development of Asgard's Fall, we came up with the idea of making use of Steam's Playtest feature. It's basically a win-win situation. You get to play the latest build, and we get helpful feedback in return. Boom!

This can also be seen as somewhat of a compensation for everyone that is not able to attend gamescom this year. Because, we will be there with the new Asgard's Fall build in the bag. If you're there, make sure to swing by and say hi.

Oh, in case you wondered, it's an open Playtest, of course - everyone can dive right in once it's live.

Long time no read, fellow gamers!

It's me again, Max, and I'd like to help you pass the wait till the big new update hits Asgard.

Like I already mentioned in a previous news, we're working on several new things like the reworked abilities. There's still some things to do before the update can be released, but I wanted to showcase some of the new stuff aka the power of evolving abilites:

Fire Nova

Also incinerates the ground, and damages enemies that dare to step onto the burning field.

Thor's Hammer

Now also electructes enemies in an area around Mjölnir, because... why not - it's Mjölnir?!

Ember Axe

Not just exploding axes anymore but also throws additional bombs that explode on impact for even more devastation on the battlefield.

But, as you know, while developing a game and fiddling around with stats, it sometimes happens that... how should I say... things can get out of hand. Just like the evolved Tornado ability. When evolved the Tornado sucks in enemies in its vicinity; and I somehow exaggerated the effect and it kinda sucked in almost the whole map. See for yourself:

Anyways, I'm still tweaking things, and this is where we currently are:

• New Timer Mechanic done (expect something cool :D)
• Only a few Evolving Abilites are missing
• You'll maybe see some more enemy variations (just the looks)
• Balancing, balancing, balancing...

We are overwhelmed with the feedback that has reached us! Thank you so much for playing the game. We take your feedback very seriously and we always try to improve the demo and the full release based on that.

Please find the changes below:

Added:

• Added option for auto aiming.
• Enemies touching you are now getting pushed away to prevent dragging them in front of you dealing continuous damage.
• We also increased the time the player is invincible after being hit.
• Added settings button in main menu.
• Added quit button after run.
• New enemy type
• Enemies can now appear in squads.

Fixed:

• Fixed an issue where the slow effect from chilled enemies won’t reset.
• Fixed an issue where the collection radius did not reset to normal after the “Elite Bounty” bonus
• Fixed an issue where the player was able to dash through walls.
• Fixed an issue where the ability upgrade "Increase the ability spawn count by 1" overlapped some abilities.

Adjusted:

• Dashing now moves you through enemies instead of pushing them away.
• The dash cooldown wheel now indicates all of the dashes, not just the last one.
• Reworked the difficulty settings. Every run starts at world level 1 but you can increase the difficulty to gain bonus EXP and challenge yourself.
• Lowered the enemy health (especially in early game). The enemies health curve was higher than intended, which resulted in never really feeling superior.
• Lowered the needed EXP for a skill tree level up to make progression faster.
• Every level up will increase your damage stats slightly to make you more powerful despite having bad rolls.
• Health regeneration now regenerates your health every 3 seconds (was 5).
• Golden Apple now heals you for 40% of your max. health (was 20%).
• “Elite Bounty” now grants 100% increased collection radius after defeating an elite enemy.
• Boss hitbox was adjusted

this is Max from Soulpotion - one of the two developers of Asgard's Fall. I'd like to share some first-hand information about our current development status and the future of Asgard's Fall. You can expect more insights in the future from now on. ːsteamhappyː

Where are we development-wise?

We've recently transitioned from Unity to GameMaker Studio 2! Our priority has always been to provide a safe and stable environment for our game's development. Recent events around Unity raised concerns, leading us to explore alternatives. And we believe we've found the perfect match with GameMaker Studio 2!

This means the new Asgard's Fall is also getting a new Steam page - This will be the full game coming out later this year.

What to expect in the new version?

New and Improved Mechanics: We're introducing crafting and gathering systems! Collect resources and craft items that will aid you in your adventures.

Revamped Skill Tree: A completely overhauled skill tree with new and more powerful options and strategies.

New Characters: Introducing new Characters completely changing the way the game is played.

Sword Engraving System: A unique feature to enhance your character! Customize your sword with powerful engravings that grant special abilities and bonuses.

Much More: There are more things we're discussing and will give you more insight into once we've decided what will and won't make it into the game.

Oh, one more thing: to shorten the waiting time, we've decided to release the latest Unity version for free soon - like very soon. The version is called Asgard's Fall: Origins from now on.

Yes, you heard right - FOR FREE. The version does have some limitations of course, since we weren't finished yet. But, we hope you'll enjoy the Asgard's Fall: Origins build in all its glory and the flaws it still might have.
